The Bluth Family Album: Arrested Development Stars Then And Now

It’s the most anticipated reunion since the Beatles! The cast of Arrested Development is back together for another season plus a full length motion picture, and we’re so excited we think we just blue ourselves. Ever since the show was criminally taken off the air back in 2006, we’ve had a Bluth-sized hole in our hearts big enough for G.O.B to drive a Segway through. But Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, and all the rest of your favorites (even Michael Cera) are signed on for the new installment of the greatest family crime saga this side of The Godfather. Huzzah!

Looking up every star to have crossed the Bluth family’s path would be like going through the Hollywood phonebook, but we’ve checked in with a few of the usual suspects to see what they’ve been up to since last saw them in the model home. So sit back, relax, and have a frozen banana as you enjoy the Bluth family album!

Arrested Development Is Back, And We Think We Just Blue Ourselves

The Mr. Manager of Television has heard our prayers, and now is the time to rejoice! We’ve all been hoping that the ground breaking cult classic Arrested Development would take a trip from the small screen to the silver screen, but we’re about to get more Bluth family updates than we ever dreamed of. It was announced this Sunday at The New Yorker Festival that the show is also set to return to the airwaves for another season! “It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie,” tweeted series hero Jason Bateman. “Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!” All of the original cast is slated to return, including Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Portia De Rossi and David Cross.

Although the show was cancelled amid much controversy in 2006, the legend (and fan base) of the show has continued to grow ever since. Though nearly all of the cast has gone on to Hollywood mega-fame, devotees of all ages have been clamoring for a reunion of any kind. Yes, Arrested Development is like the Beatles of television sitcoms. There has been talk of a movie for years, but the details always proved impossibly hard to nail down. Series creator Mitch Hurwitz explained that the problems were less about actor involvement, and more about intellectual copyright. “We don’t completely own the property,” he told festival attendees yesterday. “There are business people and studios and that kind of thing.”

But despite the problems in the business end, Hurwitz says that the juices have been flowing creatively. “I’ve been working on the screenplay for a long time,” he says, “and I found that as time went by there was so much more to the story.” To fill audiences in on what the family has been doing in the five years since we’ve seen them, he aims give each character an episode in which to dive into their backstory. This “limited series” will then lead into the feature film. We’re so excited, we think we just blue ourselves.

Men Show Off Manners, Rain-Soaked Tuxedos At Golden Globes

Sure, the women looked gorgeous in their Golden Globes gowns, but it was the guys who stole our hearts. After all, nothing says sexy like a rain-soaked tuxedo and a thick head of slicked-back hair. And they showed their manners too – did you see how many of the fellas politely held umbrellas for their lovely ladies on the red carpet? Now that’s sexy. [Photos: GettyImages]

EXCLUSIVE: It’s Anything Goes As Adam Lambert, Sarah Silverman Take Critics’ Choice Stage

The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards isn’t known for drama. It’s known for its uncanny tendency to predict Oscar winners. That’s why Adam Lambert and Sarah Silverman presenting an award together at the show might feel like a wolf pack of two casing a herd of fenced-in sheep. Need we remind you that “Good Morning America” recently cut an upcoming Adam Lambert performance after his same sex AMAs kiss? Remember Sarah dissing both Paris Hilton and Hollywood at the MTV Movie Awards? Now we have two of America’s most provocative mainstream personalities on the same stage at the same time talking to a captive group of Hollywood’s elite. And we haven’t even mentioned that Tracy Morgan is also presenting!

Additional higlights of the show: Nick Jonas & The Administration will serve as the Critics’ Choice house band; special tribute will be paid to recently deceased director John Hughes by John Krasinski, Amy Poehler and Death Cab for Cutie, which will perform “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” from “The Breakfast Club”; and Kevin Bacon will be presented with a philanthropic award by no less than Meryl Streep. Additional presenters include Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Emily Blunt, Cedric the Entertainer, Bradley Cooper, Rob Corddry, Abbie Cornish, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Vera Farmiga, Heather Graham, Ed Helms, Samuel L. Jackson, Ken Jeong, Tobey Maguire, Amy Poehler, Craig Robinson, Zoe Saldana and Susan Sarandon.

Hosted by Kristin Chenoweth, Critics’ Choice will air live on VH1 Friday, Jan. 15 at 9:00PM ET. Check back here as we live-blog the show with our partner sites, including AOL’s Moviefone, The Envelope, The Huffington Post, BestWeekEver and fashion experts Refinery29. EXCLUSIVE Oscars Dispatch: Jen, Angelina No Shows At ‘Night Before’ Party

Guests of the exclusive pre-Oscars Night Before party at the Beverly Hills Hotel last night were sorely disappointed if they were expecting a showdown between Brad Pitt‘s babymama Angelina Jolie and his ex Jennifer Aniston. Both actresses opted out of the star-studded glitzy bash and avoided an awkward run in.

Although Brad’s ladies didn’t show, there was no shortage of celebrities at the event. Leonardo DiCaprio sat at a table with model girlfriend Bar Rafaeli and chatted with pal and Entourage star Kevin Connolly. Although Bar just graced the cover of Sports Illustrated in a teeny-weeny bikini, she certainly doesn’t starve herself to get her sleek figure. Bar was eating like she hadn’t eaten in weeks. The leggy model had almost one of every gourmet dish served at the bash — rapidly poking her fork into each dish and shoving heaping servings of food into her mouth.

In addition to Leo and crew, guests like John Malkovich wandered around the glamorous outdoor bash at the hotel’s pool area, which was covered for the party. Major Hollywood power players like Jeffrey Katzenberg and Harvey Weinstein discussed upcoming projects while Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett cracked jokes. At one point Amy practically wailed at something that Tina said. (Apparently, she’s hilarious off-screen as well as on.)

Although the party had plenty of star power, it was remarkably more low key than last year’s event. No gift bags were handed out and decorations were pared down. The invitation noted “casual attire.” Most men showed up in sport coats or collared shirts, but the women still opted for elegant dresses.

The soiree was not without controversy, as a swarm of protesters assembled in front of the hotel who felt the glitzy bash was not an appropriate use of the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s money — especially considering it just shut down its hospital and nursing home.
