Vince Vaughn Is Officially Somebody’s Dad!

15769425

There will be a new little bundle under the tree for Vince Vaughn and wife Kyla Weber, who welcomed baby Locklyn Kyla Vaughn into the world this past Saturday. Vince always seemed the ultimate cranky, grumbling Dad to us. We can picture him now: yelling at his kids to get off the garage, falling asleep on the sofa with his hand in his shorts, embarrassing everyone at soccer games. It was the role he was born to play! Meanwhile the Weber-Vaughns might want to bump up their security, just in case Vaughn’s ex Jennifer Aniston decides to paint her face green and shimmy down the chimney. Oh no, we’re giving her too many ideas!

Vaughn has been gushing about popping out a few lil’ Vinces since before he and Weber even walked down the isle. As Vince told People in 2009, “It’s the first time that I really want to have kids. I’ve been very fortunate in my career, and my life has been about that for so long that you get bored of it. You’re ready for your life to be about other people and other things.” Locklyn Vaughn is one lucky little loaf! Here’s hoping she inherits Vince’s sense of humor and Kyla’s non-frog-like eyes. In the meantime, Vince can just carry her around in one of his thousand under-eye bags, like a built-in Baby Bjorn! [Photo: Getty Images]

Ron Howard Defends The Dilemma’s Awful Gay Joke

ron_vince_main1

In case you weren’t going to see The Dilemma due to its recent controversy, don’t worry: director Ron Howard defended the gay joke in question on anti-censorship grounds. In case you weren’t going to see the movie because it looks terrible, you can probably stop reading right now.

For a little background, Universal removed Vince Vaughn’s gay joke from the film’s trailer following protest by GLAAD. Previously Vaughn could be heard saying “electric cars are gay.”And if that knee-slapper isn’t worth making an entire section of the population feel bad, then we don’t know what is!

Says Howard, “I believe in sensitivity but not censorship. I don’t strip my films of everything that I might personally find inappropriate….I defend the right for some people to express offense at a joke as strongly as I do the right for that joke to be in a film.” Ron has definitely taken a stand against censorship before. Who doesn’t remember the dozens of gay jokes that pepper Cinderella Man and Apollo 13? Frost/Nixon was basically one long gay joke? Or…at least that’s how we interpreted it.

Warns Howard, “But if storytellers, comedians, actors and artists are strong armed into making creative changes, it will endanger comedy as both entertainment and a provoker of thought.” We wouldn’t want anyone to be denied the thoughts provoked by a joke about electric cars being homosexuals, now would we? Thoughts like, “What?” or “Is that supposed to be funny?” or “Oh my god, why am I in this theater watching The Dilemma when I could be anywhere else in the whole world right now?” [Photos: Getty Images/WENN]

Vince Vaughn Defends Gay Electric Car Joke; Gay Electric Cars Up In Arms

vincevaughngayjoke
Despite getting called out by Anderson Cooper on Ellen AND having Universal remove it from the film’s trailer, still Vince Vaughn defends the gay joke in his new film The Dilemma. Says Vaughn, “Let me add my voice of support to the people outraged by the bullying and persecution of people for their differences, whatever those differences may be. Comedy and joking about our differences breaks tension and brings us together. Drawing dividing lines over what we can and cannot joke about does exactly that; it divides us. Most importantly, where does it stop.” Why, if Vince Vaughn can’t make egregiously unfunny jokes at the expense of homosexuals in his terrible-looking movies, then by god, we might as well just move to CANADA already!

The joke, in case you haven’t heard it by now is that, “Electric cars are gay.” Get it? Because….um, you know, how they…drive around? Look, we understand people have different opinions about gay cars: whether they should be allowed to marry other gay cars, if it’s legal to discriminate against them based on their rainbow-colored paint jobs, whether they should be allowed to adopt go-carts. Further more, The Dilemma is a comedic romp where in which Vaughn finding out Kevin James’ wife cheating is cheating on him. So a joke about electric cars being super gay is necessary, nay, vital to the plot! It’s a pretty sticky situation, but if it makes gay activists feel any better, no one on the planet wants to see this movie. And yeah, we mean BEFORE they heard about the gay joke .[Photo: Getty Images]

Vince Vaughn Is Going To Be A Daddy

vincevaughndaddy

Awww! Guys guy Vince Vaughn is going to be on diaper duty very soon! The actor and his wife Kyla Weber are expecting their first baby together. They got married this January , a couple of years post Vaughn’s break up – we mean both the movie and the split – with Jennifer Aniston. A source commented, “They’re having so much fun together and they’re so excited to be first-time parents!” the source says.

VV’s totally ready for daddyhood too, telling People last September, “It’s the first time that I really want to have kids. I’ve been very fortunate in my career, and my life has been about that for so long that you get bored of it. You’re ready for your life to be about other people and other things.” What a journey for Vince…from Swingers to strollers!

Pop Stars Update “We Are The World” For Haiti

We Are The World

Though noticably short on rock stars (Rob Thomas may pass for Steve Perry, but Joel Madden does not pass for Bruce Springsteen), Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie assembled an impressive array of talent for their 25th anniversary re-recording of “We Are The World” Monday night. Among those appearing on the single to benefit Haitian relief efforts are Akon, Will.I.Am, Beach Boys Brian Wilson and Al Jardine, Tony Bennett, Justin Bieber, Toni Braxton, Miley Cyrus, Celine Dion, Jamie Foxx, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Groban, Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson, Keri Hilson, Jennifer Hudson, Enriquie Iglesias, Wyclef Jean, the Jonas Brothers, Kid Cudi, Gladys Knight, LL Cool J, Katharine McPhee, Jason Mraz, Pink, Carlos Santana, Nicole Scherzinger, Snoop Dogg, Jordin Sparks, Barbra Streisand, Usher and Kanye West, who was undoubtedly on his best behavior after that Hope For Haiti snub.

While Lil Wayne has revealed he covered Bob Dylan’s vocal, the full singing order has yet to be revealed (we’re pretty sure Vince Vaughn redid Dan Ackroyd‘s part, though). Check out photos from the recording, which was shot in 3-D for release later this month, in the gallery below.

Vince Vaughn Gets Married

Vince Vaughn & Kyla Weber

Here come the Swingers and Wedding Crashers jokes! Vince Vaughn married girlfriend Kyla Weber at a private ceremony in Chicago last Saturday. “They could not be happier,” an insider told People. This is Vaughn and Weber’s first marriage, though the Four Christmases star was previously attached to Joey Lauren Adams and, most notoriously, Jennifer Aniston after her split with Brad Pitt (Vaughn had co-starred with Pitt in Mr. & Mrs. Smith). Vaughn proposed to Weber in February of last year.

Steve Jones Calls Christian Bale “An Idiot”, Avril Lavigne “Beyond Boring”

steve-jones1

We told you last week that Hayden Panetierre‘s on-off BF, Welsh TV host Steve Jones, is making a move over to the States — but his brutal honesty about the behavior of some of his interviewees might ruffle a few feathers. Steve gave an interview to British magazine Live where he skewered the truth about many of his A-list guests hilariously…

  • Christian Bale: “Total idiot.”
  • Vince Vaughn: “A miserable sod.”
  • Avril Lavigne: “Beyond boring. Beyond self-involved.”
  • Shia LaBeouf: “A total corpse.”
  • Gene Simmons: “The most unbelievably vain, egotistical bloke I have EVER come across. He has a whole room in his house dedicated to all his Kiss rock memorabilia. He can talk about himself for hours and not even know who he’s talking to. That’s pretty tragic,” he said.

We love it when people go off-message and start talking this way. You can just hear the stars’ PRs exploding with rage already. Let’s hope this excellent honesty doesn’t jinx his ABC talk show plans — it could be a celebrity revolution. [Photo: WireImage]

Vince Vaughn Is Engaged

Vince Vaughn has popped the question to his Canadian real estate agent girlfriend Kyla Weber.

“She’s so happy and excited. They clicked from the beginning,” a friend said.

The source also says, “Vince has met Kyla’s whole family in Calgary. And she met his family in Chicago. They loved her!”

Will Vince’s ex Jennifer Aniston be invited? “Kyla never mentions Jennifer Aniston,” the friend blabbed. OK, so Jennifer probably won’t be there, but more importantly, does this “friend” think she is going to be in the wedding? She’s blabbing all over the place. [Photo: Getty Images]

Box Office Beat: Crazy In-Laws Take The Cake

Audiences must really be in the holiday spirit, as Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn held the top spot at the movies for the second weekend in a row, beating sexy vampires, Australian cowboys and Bond. Four Christmases‘ success proves the often-told tale of family stress and a full schedule around the holidays doesn’t get old. See a clip above of Vaughn being outed by his rowdy brothers, revealing to Witherspoon his birth name is “Orlando.”

1. Four Christmases: $18.2M
2. Twilight: $13.2M
3. Bolt: $9.7M
4. Australia: $7M
5. Quantum of Solace: $6.6M

On the coattails of Beyonce‘s “Single Ladies” sensation, we were somewhat surprised to see Cadillac Records roll in at #9 with a meager $3.5M. Check out a clip of Ms. Knowles singing as Etta James after the jump.
