Vanessa Hudgens Lived In A Homeless Shelter For Two Weeks For A Role

Vanessa Hudgens: Academy Award nominee. We’ll probably have to type out that exact same phrase again some day, if the lengths Hudgens went to in preparing for upcoming film Gimme Shelter are any indication. “I actually went and stayed in the shelter for two weeks before I started filming,” Hudgens said of her time living at a homeless shelter, which she revealed as part of her interview on The Rachael Ray Show. “I lived there with all the girls, with all the kids. It’s really empowering and it’s fun pushing yourself as far as you can.” Seeing as how Vanessa’s last film was Sucker Punch…this is some straight-up Daniel Day-Lewis ish in comparison.

While the former High School Musical star is currently promoting her action-adventure film Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Vanessa is clearly interested in roles that require much more of a transformation. “[Rosario Dawson and I] look so messed up in this movie,” Hudgens remarked, describing her screen mom’s “meth head” look as well as her own character’s ragged, uneven ‘do. “I actually cut my own hair… I did that to myself, yes I did,” Vanessa added. Meanwhile Rosario Dawson will also be giving the performance of a lifetime in Gimme Shelter…as a woman old enough to be Vanessa Hudgens’ mom.

New York Fashion Week: Which Stars Are Taking Style Seriously?

It’s Day Two of New York Fashion Week, and the celebrity sightings are starting to pile up — no small feat, given that it’s also the beginning of Grammy Awards weekend in Los Angeles, and we’re sure those parties are tempting many a famous face away from this coast. But up at Lincoln Center, the stars who know that what they (and their stylists) choose for them to wear on the red carpet and on the way to the grocery store has an impact on their overall image, and, dare we say? their career as well. So, who have we seen in the front rows so far? Shailene Woodley (kind of surprising, since she told us she only wears second-hand clothing), Alexa Chung and Kristen Chenoweth took in the pretty purples and blues of the Honor show. Abigail Breslin, Megan Hilty and Angela Simmons watched the Cynthia Rowley show together. Kellan Lutz was with Matt Czuchry, Chris Lowell and the NY Knicks’ Landry Fields for Joseph Abboud. Recently resurfaced former child star Anna Chlumsky was backstage at Houghton. Taylor Momsen was snapped roaming in the lobby today. And then there are the afterparties. Vanessa Hudgens, Rose McGowan, Giants star Victor Cruz and Eve were among the revelers at the Leila Shams party last night. Come back all week long for more pics of the stars getting their style on.

Vanessa Hudgens Almost Gets It Right On The Red Carpet

Vanessa Hudgens was at the premiere of her film Journey 2: The Mysterious Island in L.A last night and looked quite lovely in this sunflower yellow Maria Lucia Hohan gown. For once, Vanessa managed to channel her boho-hippie (not really) chic on to a red carpet to positive results. She looked pretty adorable at the photocall in Bondi Beach too, remember? That wasn’t a posh event, per se, but she’s still doing nicely in the style stakes. Almost. SO close. Love the gown from the front, especialy with the gold bangles and that huge ring. Still OK with the back. Backless is good, right? Not so OK with it being sideless too. Because now we’re looking at it nervously, wondering what it’s holding on to, other than that bit of flesh-colored fabric. A prayer? We know less is more, but you have to learn when to apply that and when to invest in some “more.”

Vanessa Hudgens And Ashley Tisdale’s “Girls” Makes Us Hope For Another High School Musical

There was a while there when High School Musical 3 seemed like more than enough. We were happy to see the Wildcats make it to the big screen, and just as happy to see them move on to bigger and (sometimes) better things. We did not really feel the need to buy Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure on DVD. That has all changed this week. And no, not because we really miss Corbin Bleu. But because Ashley Tisdale made the brilliant move of posting this video of her and pal Vanessa Hudgens dancing to Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls).”

Vanessa Hudgens Hits The Beach With A Bikini And A Boyfriend, Hotness Ensues

Chances are pretty good that Vanessa Hudgens is having a much better (and warmer) January than you. After turning heads at the People’s Choice Awards last week in sunny Los Angeles, she and super hot co-star Josh Hutcherson flew down under to Sydney to promote Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and soak up some of the local summer rays. And now V-Hudge has been spotted mackin’ it with boyfriend Austin Butler on a beach in Hawaii. She’s like some kind of warm weather Carmen Sandiego! While Vanessa look adorable, we think Josh decided to take the “Island” theme of the movie to heart. Because what else could explain this jaunty (we’re being polite), nautical outfit? Turned up jeans, flip-flops and better still — a striped sleeveless tank top? C’mon, Josh! We know you like to dress down, thanks to those photos we saw of you at Coachella. The 7 Worst-Dressed At The People’s Choice Awards (Sorry!!!)

We’re as surprised at this list of the worst-dressed ladies at the People’s Choice Awards as you are. A lot of our favorites are in there, so don’t bother throwing stones at us, because we’ve beaten ourselves up plenty already. But in the interest of fairness, we’ll just chalk their fashion missteps down as a bad day at the stylists. Each of these women are lovely, but bad decisions can happen to anyone right?

Leading the way, sadly, is Vanessa Hudgens. She does her hippie-meets-goth thing usually, but this Jenny Packham gown combined the worst of both styles. We don’t like the way it’s constructed and the two layers — the black gown and the gold spiderweb — are looking slopply. The Casadei heel look too clunky, as well. Still, top points for her luminous smile! Next up is Jennifer Morrison, whose severe, huge bun and slash of too-dark lipstick veers into matron territory. That Oscar de la Renta dress is vaguely reminiscent of a lampshade. We feel it would’ve looked a lot better if she had done something different with her hair and make-up — perhaps gone softer. Her buddy Ginnifer Goodwin is also on the list. We love the color of her Roksanda Ilinicic dress, but those sleeves looks like they’re going to eat her alive, just like those Jimmy Choo’s look like they’re eating her feet. It’s too much dress for such a tiny body. Another disappointment was Lucy Hale, who is so pretty, but her black Cengiz Abazoğlu number has a split personality. It feels like she couldn’t decide whether she wanted to wear a maxi or a mini, so ended up going with both. (more…)

Justin Bieber, Jennifer Aniston Top Google’s Celeb Haircuts List

No, the fact that Justin Bieber’s, Jennifer Aniston’s and Emma Watson’s haircuts were the most searched-for haircuts of 2011 is not Earth-shattering news by any means. What we do find entertaining, however, is the fact that Google seems to have taken a lot of time measuring something like this. Click around the site’s 2011 Zeitgeist feature and you’ll find all sorts of not-very-shocking info (Bieber is the most-searched person, Rebecca Black is the fastest rising, Kim Kardashian and William and Kate had the most popular weddings, etc.) laid out in very nifty-looking bar graphs. Vanessa Hudgens Really Loves Her Short Shorts!

We recently posted photographs of Vanessa Hudgens in big boots and short shorts in L.A. It seems that tiny pieces of fabric are her thang because ‘Nessa was spotted in an almost identical pair of denim booty shorts walking around Sherman Oaks. Only difference this time was that she was wearing a slick of berry lipstick and some clunky heels. No denying that she’s got a great pair of stems, but do we really like those shoes? We’re not convinced. They look like they weigh more than her! Vanessa needs to find a cute pair of flip-flops to keep the whole boho, chilled vibe going! Agreed?
