Tracy Morgan Isn’t The Only Star Feeling The Sundance High … Altitude!

“On the set of 30 Rock, just walked past @alecbaldwin and said Top That!” Tracy Morgan tweeted a couple of hours ago. Phew! We’re so glad he’s feeling better after being hospitalized in Park City over the weekend. He’d collapsed during the Creative Coalition Spotlight Awards (and considering the photo above was taken at the ceremony, we’re not surprised!), due to what his spokesperson called “a combination of exhaustion and altitude.” TMZ caught him at the Salt Lake City airport on Monday with an oxygen tank, supporting the altitude explanation.

Apparently, Tracy isn’t alone in feeling the effects of being on higher ground in Utah. VH1 News talked to a number of other stars at Sundance who were still a little lightheaded. Not that they let that slow them down much.

Tracy Morgan Hospitalized After Falling Unconscious At Sundance

Tracy Morgan suddenly fell unconscious at Sundance just last night and had to be rushed to a hospital. He was being honored at the Creative Coalition Spotlight Awards in Park City, and the incident happened as he was exiting the building after giving his speech. While sources told TMZ that he appeared to be under the influence of something at the event, Amy Roberts, a spokeswoman for Park City Medical Center stated that no drugs or alcohol were found in his system. Tracy’s spokesperson, Lewis Kay, revealed a different cause: “From a combination of exhaustion and altitude, Tracy is seeking medical attention. He is with his fiance and grateful to the Park City Medical Center for their care. Any reports of Tracy consuming alcohol are 100 percent false.” We wish him a speedy recovery.

25 Apologies We’ll Fondly Remember From 2011

In the age of Twitter, it’s pretty amazing that more celebrities aren’t putting their foot in it these days. But enough of our favorite (or least favorite) actors, musicians and other public figures managed to say and do the kind of awful things that simultaneously give publicists strokes and keep them in business. After those awful things come the kind of public apologies that make us cringe, squirm and thank god we’re not in their shoes. From Chris Brown to Gilbert Gottfried, Arnold Schwarzenegger to Lea Michele, Hilary Swank to Mythbusters, we had a lot of Schadenfreude to enjoy in 2011. We’re pretty sure the culprits would like us to forget these moments, but here’s a little gallery to remind you:

Tina Fey Might Use Tracy Morgan Gay Rant As 30 Rock Plotline

According to Tina Fey, 30 Rock might feature the Tracy Morgan gay controversy as a future plot point, which seems at least as entertaining as watching Tracy Jordan buy two blimps and crash them into each other to see what kind of sound they make. When asked by Deadline whether the anti-gay comments Morgan made earlier this summer would affect the show’s chances for an Emmy or reduce their audience, Fey replied, “Because of my real-life pregnancy, we don’t go back on the air until January. I’m hoping that Tracy will have, and the world will have, forgotten about that by them. He from the first has gone around very sincerely and done his best to try to make up for the foolishness.” Don’t worry, everyone still associates him first and foremost with wanting to take them behind the middle school and get them pregnant.

Morgan later apologized for his comments in a GLAAD press conference, as well as defended of gay marriage. But since it happened (and since they already had Tracy visit Africa, have another baby and discover he has a son older than himself), Fey and the writing staff might just have to incorporate the scandal into 30 Rock‘s upcoming season. “It’s the kind of story that even if it happened to someone else, we would probably turn it into a Tracy story,” Tina mused. “So we may use it.” We bet they will; Tracy Jordan’s lizard’s album drops in December, but then they have a lot of airtime to fill.

Tracy Morgan Apologizes For Anti-Gay Jokes With Nashville Press Conference

Man, if only Tracy Morgan hadn’t made those anti-gay jokes, we could just be loving him unreservedly like we were before. Following Tracy Morgan’s rant two weeks ago, the 30 Rock star is at least returning to Nashville to apologize for his homophobic riffing. Seeing as how the comedian apologized a few days after the incident, Tracy Morgan’s GLAAD press conference, which also included audience member Kevin Rogers, was yet another opportunity to confirm: yup, it was still a truly horrible bit. “I want to apologize to my friends, my family and my fans,” Morgan said. “I didn’t know. I didn’t mean it and that’s how I feel about it. I don’t have a hateful bone in my body. I don’t believe that anyone that should be bullied or, just, made to feel bad about who they are. I totally feel that in my heart.” Especially not if they are shelling out 80 bones for the privilege.

Despite his comments Morgan has his share of supporters, including Melissa Leo, Louis C.K. and most recently Joan Rivers, who told The Daily Beast, “He shouldn’t apologize. Gay fans? What are they doing seeing him anyhow? Why aren’t they watching me and Kathy Griffin?” Or after that quote, probably just Kathy Griffin. “I pride myself of…18 years of stand-up, of using it to heal people, and not to hurt,” Morgan continued, concluding his statement by sayung, “To err is human, but to forgive is divine…Thank you for forgiving me.” Guess Tracy will just have to wait and see if his fan base is ready to accept his mea cupla.

Melissa Leo Defends Tracy Morgan’s Comedy Skills

In case you’re wondering what kind of people those were who cheered his anti-gay bit, Melissa Leo defends Tracy Morgan following his homophobic rant on-stage in Nashville. “I witnessed Tracy very upset by being misunderstood, and the best comfort to him seemed to be that comedy is the most difficult [skill] of what we do,” said the Academy-Award-winning star of The Fighter, and Tracy’s current co-star in Predisposed. “And comedy in the theatrical arts presses boundaries and asks questions and puts things in people’s faces. The cat I’m working with up the river is a very fine man with the best intentions. And yeah, he likes to push an envelope, without a doubt.” Tracy sure is pushing the envelope alright. The envelope that has his 30 Rock contract in it, and he’s slowly pushing it towards the garbage.

Despite the fact that Tracy Morgan’s apology seemed to indicate even he didn’t know what he was talking about, Leo’s Oscars swearing mishap apparently means the actress feels his pain. “Golly, I’ll live the rest of my life with a four-letter cuss word that we all use, in a moment that was beyond my wildest dreams, so there you go,” she exclaimed. Accidentally swearing on live television and accidentally claiming you’ll stab your son are two distinct and separate thing.

Tracy Morgan Supports Gay Marriage, Admits He Says “Really Stupid S–t”

Tracy Morgan’s homophobic rant marked a low point in the 30 Rock star‘s public career, but he wants everyone to know that he’s committed to making amends, provided it does not require him to put his shirt back on. Tracy Morgan apologized last Friday following the tirade, but sat down with Russell Simmons yesterday to clarify how sorry he really is. “I guess the reason I am successful is because I am so unfiltered. And sometimes as a result I say really stupid s–t,” Morgan told Simmons during his GlobalGrind interview. “The truth is if I had a gay son, I would love him just as much as if he was straight … I might have to try to love even more because I know of the difficulty that he would have in society.”

Russell didn’t ask, nor did Tracy try to explain, exactly what he was going for with the bit, but says that in the future he has to “think of some funny s–t, not some s–t that gets me knocked upside my head.” Tracy Morgan and GLAAD will partner and return to Tennessee next week for a press conference protesting the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which would make it illegal for teachers to discuss homosexuality prior “I’m sorry for what I said. I didn’t mean it. I never want to use my comedy to hurt anyone. My family knew what it was like to feel different. My brother was disabled and I lost my father to AIDS in 1987,” the comedian told E! Online. “My dad wasn’t gay, but I also learned about homophobia then because of how people treated people who were sick with that. Parents should support and love their kids no matter what. Gay people deserve the same right to be happy in this country as everyone else. Our laws should support that.” As Morgan told Simmons, “I am deeply sorry for the comments I made. What I am most sad about is the comments I made about kids and bullying. I believe everyone deserves the right to be happy and marry who they want too; gay, white, black, male or female. Let me know where the rally’s at Russ.” You’ll recognize him when you get there. He’ll be the half-naked one wielding the light saber.

Tracy Morgan Thinks Charlie Sheen Is Acting A Fool, Being A Terrible Father

Tracy Morgan might joke about taking everyone and everything behind the middle school and getting them pregnant, but unlike some performers, his character’s bizarro character traits usually stay fictional. In an interview with PopEater about his new film Rio, Tracy Morgan insults Charlie Sheen‘s parenting skills, taking the touring warlock to task for humiliating his kids. “I’m just a comedian. I’m not Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen ain’t funny to me. I think that’s a train wreck and I feel bad for his two little kids because they’re the bodies being pulled out of the train wreck,” Morgan ranted. Aw, it’s like Tracy thinks he’s usually puffing on a pipe in a tweed jacket, as opposed to getting topless and talking about “climbing” Michelle Obama.

In Morgan’s defense, given Sheen’s custody battle with Brooke Mueller, Charlie’s kids might have to face the kind of damage that seeing their father take his shirt off in public just cannot compare to. “What’s going to happen to them? But everybody thinks it’s a joke. While this asshole is going on stage making a fool of himself his kids are going to suffer and don’t even know it because this is a cycle of abuse,” Morgan explains. Then again, his own family had to find out about Tracy Morgan’s kidney transplant from the internet. Pick out an adorable preteen and we’ll see them both in Two And A Half Man-Children this fall on FX.

Tracy Morgan Wants To Climb Michelle Obama Like “A Tall Mountain”

Tracy Morgan might be looking for a new country to call home if he’s not careful. While appearing on Lopez Tonight Monday evening, Morgan opened up about meeting our commander-in-chief at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner last summer. However, it seems like the 30 Rock star was far more impressed with meeting the President’s wife. Yes, Tracy Morgan has thing for First Lady Michelle Obama. And that’s putting it mildly.

“I looked at Michelle and she said, ‘Hi Tracy!’ and I just got hard!” Morgan over-shared. “Michelle looked like a tall mountain, and I’m gonna climb it just ’cause it’s there. Kilimanjaro!” We wonder if this is what the founding father’s had in mind when they outlined Freedom of Speech. Let’s hope the Prez isn’t the jealous type, or else Gitmo might have a new inmate.

Tracy Morgan Living Large At Last Night’s Knicks Game

Tracy Morgan is over his kidney transplant and back at work at 30 Rock, which may explain his good spirits at the Knicks game in Madison Square Garden last night. Not only was he flashing a giant wad of twenties, but the actor took time to pose with Sports Illustrated swimsuit models Catrinel Menghia and Kate Upton, who were making the scene with fellow bikini promoter Genevieve Mortin. We’d guess he’s not totally healed, though—why else would he not have shown off his belly to the ladies last night?
