Terrence Howard’s Wife Slaps Him With Restraining Order

There’s not much worse than celebrity domestic violence charges. A house fire, maybe? Seriously, if we could pay to have someone Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind away everything Mel Gibson did between 2009 and May 2011, we would. Oh, how we would! Meanwhile, Terrence Howard‘s wife Michelle Ghent has leveled some pretty heinous domestic violence allegations against the Iron Man actor, in addition to securing a restraining order against him. Some of Michelle’s claims include allegations that Howard hit her in the face, chipping her tooth with his wedding ring, and made threats against her life, including, “If you tell anyone about my personal business, I will kill you and no one will ever know.” Ugh, you can’t unread that sentence, can you?

Ghent filed for divorce back in February 2011 after the two wed in January 2010. Terrence also was arrested back in 2001 for an alleged assault on his then-wife Lori McCommas, whom the actor was married to from 1989 to 2001, than again from 2003 to 2005. Terrence has denied all allegations, and claims that Ghent said she would “release private materials to 3rd parties for her own personal financial gain” until the actor paid her. Hmm, is celebrity blackmail any better? Let’s consider the question while we treat ourselves to a nice glass of eye bleach.

Terrence Howard’s Wife Divorcing Him After One Year Of Marriage

News of Terrence Howard‘s divorce is coming a lot quicker than word of his nuptials did. The Hustle & Flow star married Michelle Ghent last January, but didn’t make their relationship public until May. Well, according to TMZ, Michelle has filed to wipe him from her life just a year after that secret ceremony. Yes, we just made the mandatory Terrence Howard baby wipes joke.

While the news is surprising considering the pair were just in Sundance together late last month, it’s hardly the first bit of matrimonial drama Terrence has been part of. The actor was arrested in 2001 for stalking, threatening and punching his first wife in the face during a separation in 2001 (they were divorced in 2003, and remarried in 2005 before separating again six months later). “The second time, she tried to control me,” Howard told The Guardian in 2008. “She made that awful mistake of trying to rope a bull. But I pursued her for six years and I’d marry her again, to tell you the truth.” Someone should warn her he’s free to try again.

Skeet Ulrich Dropped From Law & Order LA

Skeet Ulrich

Poor Skeet Ulrich. Already the butt of many a “failed movie career” joke, the actor will now have to deal with “failed TV career” jokes. Skeet just got fired from Law & Order LA, not even getting to finish the first season. And who will replace him as cueball Corey Stoll‘s partner in crime detection? Alfred Molina! No offense to Skeet, but that’s undoubtedly a step up the acting evolutionary scale.

But wait…isn’t Molina already on the cast as an Assistant District Attorney? Seems the plan is for Molina’s Ricardo Morales to reveal that he was a cop for 15 years…and apparently he’d like his old job back! This will allow fellow ADA Terrence Howard to appear in more episodes. The show’s legal side will also be losing Regina Hall and Megan Boone—whether this bloodletting will actually improve the show’s standing, we must admit we’re more inclined to see a show without Skeet Ulrich than a show with Skeet Ulrich.

Terrence Howard Secretly Married Since January

Terrence Howard

Crazy news: Terrence Howard has been secretly married for the last five months. The Iron Man actor (replaced by Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2) introduced wife Michelle Ghent at a cocktail party in Cannes for Winnie, his upcoming Mandela biopic with Jennifer Hudson. “To come here and be with my wife, it’s the best feeling in the world,” Howard told Anderson Cooper. “Terrence is so in love with her and she’s a great, down-to-earth girl who really understands and loves him for him,” a source told Us.

What surprises us even more than the secret marriage is that someone lived up Terrence’s notorious standards for female partners. After all, Howard is anti-premarital sex (“Afterward, I would feel unclean…so I would have to let them go because they didn’t help me to be a stronger person”), pro baby-wipes (“If they’re using dry paper, they aren’t washing all of themselves…I go in a woman’s house and see the toilet paper there, I’ll explain this. And if she doesn’t make the adjustment to baby wipes, I’ll know she’s not completely clean”) and fond of dating multiple women at once (“The greatest number of women I’ve dated was 12. I’ve had four women come to my hotel and we all painted pictures together. I was just trying to see which ones I liked the most”). Still, it looks like one lucky lady has passed the audition. See photos of Howard and his lady in Cannes below.

Terrence Howard Beat His Lady, Too

When Terrence Howard spouted off about Chris Brown being “a great guy” after he allegedly abused Rihanna, we didn’t realize the actor had a rap sheet of his own. In 2001, he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his then-estranged wife, Lori McCommas. Howard allegedly threatened her over the phone by saying, “Don’t disrespect me by hanging up on me or I’ll come over and hurt you.”

According to documents obtained by The Smoking Gun, he did just that. He not only broke down his wife’s front door but also “grabbed the victim’s left arm and punched her twice with a closed fist in the left side of the face.”

Howard was booked on suspicion of simple assault, making terroristic threats, harassment and stalking, and disorderly conduct — and he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in 2002. Howard and McCommas are separated.

Guess we’ll have to add Terrance Howard to our Celebrity Mugshot Hall of Shame:

Don Cheadle Replaces Terrence Howard In Iron Man 2, World Pleasantly Surprised

When the future looks so daunting and uncertain, it’s important to cling to whatever shreds of hope we can find. For that reason, Scandalist is proud to share that Terrence Howard has outpriced himself from the sequel to Iron Man, which will star Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes instead. While Howard must have assumed the increasing importance of his character (remember when he stared at the armored suit and said “next time?”) would be a good bargaining chip, the negotiations instead gave producers time to consider whether America would be interested in watching this smug charm-void in a spin-off. Enter Cheadle, an actor whose public persona revolves around political advocacy rather than demanding prospective girlfriends use baby wipes on their ass.

While he won’t be flying through the air with Robert Downey Jr., Howard can comfort himself with the fact that his debut album, Shine Through It, almost made the Top 30 earlier this year (Downey’s album didn’t even make the Top 100!). Plus he’ll have the time to get that physics degree he’s always talking about.
