Celebrate 9.02.10 With A Then And Now Retropective Of 90210

For those of you who have yet to look at a calendar this morning, today’s date is September 2, 2010. Or, if you’re the type who prefers both brevity and decimal points, 9.02.10. In honor of such a momentous date, we thought we would pay tribute to the all-star cast of one of the greatest creative achievements of our lifetimes, Beverly Hills, 90210. (After all, it’s now or never; most of us won’t be around to celebrate the next time this date rolls around!)

It has been nearly 20 years since the show debuted on the (then fledgling) Fox Network, and it’s fair to say that none of our lives have been the same since. Dylan McKay and Brandon Walsh taught young men everywhere that nothing is more attractive than the combination of brooding glares and bitchin’ sideburns, and Brenda Walsh, Kelly Taylor and Donna Martin (Graduates!) proved to be some of the era’s biggest fashion icons (even if we laugh at their sundresses and chokers now).

So, won’t you join us as we take a trip down memory lane and through the halls of West Beverly High as we investigate how the show’s core cast members and impressive roster of guest stars (Hilary Swank! Ryan Seacrest! Um, Jamie Walters?!?) looked then and what they look like now. May the bridges we burn light the way!

We’re being a little mean—Shannen Doherty‘s skin has yet to reach threat level orange—but seeing the Dancing The Stars loser at last night’s Armani Exchange party in LA, we noticed for the first time that the former Brenda Walsh looks just a little like the scandalous Snooki when she rocks that raccoon eyeliner. Stay away from the tanning salon, Shannen! Though you still look ninety times better than Kelly Osbourne with her purple dye job. Better Jersey Shore than Golden Girls.

DWTS: Pam Anderson’s Aunt Vie Is The Real Winner

We watched Dancing With The Stars for the first time last night and, holy mediocrity, is that show a load of glittery diarrhea. Really America? This is what you’ve spent the last few years blowing your media load over? It only took two hours for us to tire of the blow outs, the Russian accents and the stiff stick arms (we hope Erin Andrews and Nicole Scherzinger stuffed themselves at In N Out Burger after the show), but we’re going to suffer through it for one reason and one reason only: Pam Anderson’s Aunt Vie.

So much made sense after seeing that goddess shuffling around her kitchen: 1. we now know where Pam gets her drop dead gorgeous looks from and 2. we also know how Pam’s going to age, and we hope it involves lots of black hair dye. We’ll call in and vote for Pammy every week if it means we get to see Aunt Vie shimmy around in her Sunday best. Plus we’ll be doing Pam’s dancing partner a favor, as she’s clearly one rehearsal away from cha-chaing onto to his penis.

We already knew that over-extended mom of eight Kate Gosselin would be one of the chosen ones (did we say over-extended? We meant over-extensioned.) Ex-Bad Girls Kelly Osbourne & Shannen Doherty Bond At G-Star Raw Fashion Show

Kelly Osbourne and Shannen Doherty were seated together at the G-Star Raw show at NYC Fashion Week yesterday, and we can’t think of a more inspired pairing. Kelly got her big break stomping angrily around her house on The Osbournes, being frutstrated by her misunderstanding parents, her obnoxious brother (who was younger but always acted older) and vain boyfriend (remember the singer from The Used?). Shannen, of course, was Brenda on Beverly Hills, 90210, where she stomped around her house, frustrated by her misunderstanding parents, her obnoxious brother (who was her twin but always acted older) and vain boyfriend (Dylan!). Ironically, with the ex-Charmed star reportedly hawking a reality show, she might have been the one asking Kelly for career advice.

Pamela Anderson’s Strip Club Opening A Bust

You would think Pamela Anderson opening a strip club would be a no-brainer, but reportedly The Sapphire Gentlemen’s Club grand opening in Manhattan’s Upper East Side was a complete mess.

First of all, the strippers were telling guests that they couldn’t disrobe in front of DJ Samantha Ronson because, “She’s so girl crazy, she can’t concentrate if we strip.”

Samantha reportedly wasn’t really into doing to gig anyway. She reportedly wouldn’t pose with hostess Pamela and refused to do any publicity in order to avoid being asked about her ex-girlfriend Lindsay Lohan. She also suggested that the venue was really not her cup of tea anyway when she twittered “Note to self: read the whole email from @brandonphelps before saying yes to dj gigs. Sapphire??? Oops!”

Pamela was knocked by Prime 333 Steakhouse designer Malcom Harris, who called the PETA activist a “hypocrite and loser for even being there” in a strip club with his steakhouse in its east wing.

Pammy also had another enemy at the party, former Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannen Doherty. Both ex-wives of sex tape star Rick Salomon reportedly avoided each other the whole evening.

Finally, even though Pammy wore a teeny tiny white jumpsuit, the Baywatch babe left early because the air conditioning at the club was not working properly.

Brenda Walsh 2.0

Shannen Doherty may be reprising her role as Brenda Walsh on the new Beverly Hills 90210, but she has some major competition for top trouble maker this time around. Shanae Grimes, who plays Annie Wilson, reportedly is quite the diva on set. Sources tell Page Six that Shanae has been “tormenting everyone on set” and “acts rude to the cast, crew and extras.” The insider claims Grimes even once yelled at an unassuming guest star, “Who the hell are you?” and often spits out comments like “This is my show – everyone else is riding my coattails.” Sounds like the ghost of the hard partying, check bouncing, quickie-marrying, DUI receiving Shannen Doherty is back from the 90s. New 90210 Shocks Its Older Stars With Blowjob – And Probably Girl-On-Girl Action

Remember how sacred Donna Martin’s virginity was on the original Beverly Hills, 90210? Turns out, stuff like that isn’t really an issue to the new generation of high schoolers in the famous West Beverly zipcode. Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth spoke to EW this week and discussed one way the show has evolved since their days fighting over Dylan McKay.

Garth (on her role as a guidance counselor): “When [they] told me some of the things they were doing, I was like, ‘Whoa. That is not 90210, people.’ They were trying to educate me [about] how teens are in high school today. It was so shocking to me that I thought I should bring a positive spin somehow. Of course, I have yet to guide or counsel anyone.”

Doherty: “I think they must have told you the same things they told me. … All I know is there’s a girl giving a guy a blow job in the first episode.”

Garth: “When they told me that, I thought, Aaron Spelling is rolling over in his grave right now.”

Jennie Garth Thinks Tori Should Get Paid Just As Much

The new Beverly Hills, 90210 is already full of drama. Yesterday, Tori Spelling’s rep issued a statement saying, “At this time, there are no plans for Tori to appear in the 90210 spinoff.” Amid reports that Tori’s decision to not appear on the show was due to a money dispute, former costars Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth have chimed in on the rumors.

Jennie told EW.com, “[The press thinks] we’re at war over salary with Tori. I didn’t know I was at war with Tori. I’m really bummed because I love Tori, and I was psyched Tori was going to be on the show. I think she should definitely get paid as much as either of us is getting paid. Her father created the show. It just seems wrong if that’s the case. I don’t know what really happened because I haven’t talked to her. I would like to talk to her.”

Shannen Doherty quipped, “They didn’t even get the numbers right so I don’t know if [Spelling's decision] is about the money either.”

If not about money then why would Tori not reprise audience favorite Donna Martin???
