Rogen and Apatow Diss Heigl

heigl-apatow-rogen

Outspoken Katherine Heigl is getting a taste of her own medicine from her former colleagues, Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen. After Knocked Up came out, Heigl said of the film, “It’s a little sexist…It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as goofy, fun-loving guys.” It’s been two years since she made that statement, but ironically in that time she’s also made a bunch of garbage that’s far worse for women and far less funny than Knocked Up. (27 Dresses, anyone?)

Rogen and Apatow were on Howard Stern this week and finally got a chance to respond to Heigl. Rogen told Stern, “I gotta say, it’s not like we’re the only people she said some bats–t crazy things about. That’s kind of her bag now,” while Apatow made fun of her role in The Ugly Truth (where Heigl plays an uptight woman facing off against a goofy, fun-loving guy…say whaaa?), saying, “I hear there’s a scene where she’s wearing underwear with a vibrator in it, so I’d have to see if that was uplifting for women.” Advantage, Team Apatow. Wonder if Heigl plans to respond to that. [Photos: GettyImages]

Entourage And Seth Rogen Trade Disses

Entourage has always made jokes about the industry in Hollywood, but usually they make fun of the ridiculousness of it, not specific people. This week though, they took aim at Seth Rogen, which the actor didn’t appreciate.

On Sunday’s episode, Turtle (Jerry Ferarra) asserted that someone like Katherine Heigl would never date someone like Rogen in real life as she did in Knocked Up. Rogen, who has lost considerable weight recently and also, uh, is not a vapid celebrity the way the folks on Entourage so often are, responded to E!’s Daily 10 and dished it right back, as well he should.

Rogen told the show, “Yeah, those guys are assholes. I actually ran into MattKevin Dillon in a Starbucks. And he’s like ‘you know, I’ve got to kind of apologize because apparently the guy who created our show doesn’t like you so much.’ And I said ‘well I have reason to believe because I think [showrunner] Doug Ellin is a moron from all I can understand so it makes sense he doesn’t like me.’ And I’ve kind of said some disparaging things about the show. Although in our defense, [producer] Mark Wahlberg called us misogynistic in an interview, so I think they kind of started that…It’s on. Luckily I never have and never plan on watching Entourage.”

The most ironic thing about this, we think, is that Jerry Ferarra, both on the show and in real life, is dating Jamie-Lynn Sigler. Why isn’t anyone questioning that Bizarro-world match? [Photos: GettyImages]

Seth Rogen: Former Funny Fat Guy, Now A Skinny “Sellout”

seth-rogen
Seth Rogen is starring as the title character in the upcoming film The Green Hornet and admits that in order to play a superhero, he needed to look the part. The star has lost more than 30 pounds (which seems like a conservative figure to us, he’s pretty damn skinny these days), but admits that it hasn’t been easy.

“I’ve lost the weight for the role, but I don’t know if I’ll keep it off. That’s the big question. I have a lot of tantrums. I want my food. I cry for no reason,” he has said of his weight loss journey. “I’m selling out, guys. It’s the lamest thing ever. It’s for The Green Hornet - the only reason. There’s no other reason. I just think it serves the movie.”

Somewhere, a Weight Watchers counselor is weeping at that dismissive statement. We think he looks great, but since Hollywood loves its tubby, funny guys, we know he won’t have trouble finding work if he does gain the weight back. [Source: femalefirst; Photos: FilmMagic, Getty Images]

Seth Rogen Makeover: Fab Or Fail?

Seth Rogen is proof that if you exercise and eat right, crazy sh*t will happen! The once-chunky funny guy first won over fans in the short-lived TV show Freaks & Geeks, but his star exploded on the big screen with hits The 40 Year Old Virgin and Superbad. After baring his butt in Knocked Up, Rogen began seriously slimming down for his role in The Green Hornet, which starts shooting this month.

Rogen revealed that he attained his new look the old fashioned way, telling Ryan Seacrest, “I exercised and I dieted.” He also claims, “I don’t weigh myself.” Wow, he makes it sound easy! Then again, personal trainers to the stars are known for getting results.

Anna Faris’ Revealing Dress: Too Much?

anna faris

Opinions are split over the showy dress Anna Faris wore to the premiere of Observe & Report yesterday. Go Fug Yourself says it’s a “wee bit cheeseball” and “might be on backwards.” Meanwhile, PopWrap calls it “booby, bawdy and beautiful.” We’re tempted to say they’re both right. Either way, let’s just be glad it’s not on Seth Rogen.

Check out photos from the premiere below.

Oscars 2009 Facts You Might Not Have Known

The only predictions Scandalist got wrong for this year’s Oscars (we didn’t pretend to know about crap like Best Documentary - Short Subject) were Best Actor and Best Actress. Plenty of people thought Mickey Rourke would beat Sean Penn, but why did we think Anne Hathaway would beat Kate Winslet? Because we didn’t think Kate was old enough to get the “throw her a golden boy while we still can” award. Sure, it took four lead actress nominations over an entire decade before Kate finally took home a trophy, but Al Pacino had to wait through twenty years of ceremonies until his sixth lead nomination to win for Scent Of A Woman. Like Al, maybe Kate can focus on crappy detective movies for the rest of her life.

Here are some other details about last night’s winners, losers and presenters you might not have known.

  • While Meryl Streep has two Oscars to her name, she must be getting a little frustrated with the ceremony all the same. She last won for 1983’s Sophie’s Choice, and she’s been nominated a whopping eleven times since. We’re sure she’s gracious to all these young ladies bawling over their first Oscar, but that’s twenty five years of “thank you”’s she’s had to toss.
  • Anthony Hopkins mentioned working with Brad Pitt on Legends Of The Fall during the Best Lead Actor presentation (though he didn’t say the movie’s name), but when Robert DeNiro paid tribute to Sean Penn, he failed to bring up 1989’s We’re No Angels, the flop comedy that first brought the pair together. Future Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly also appeared in the film, playing a “Young Monk.”

Jack Osbourne Is Not A F*ckhead Anymore

Celebrity offspring Jack Osbourne has traded popping pills for popping himself off cliff-faces, all in the name of achieving that legal adrenaline rush, and we admire him for it, we really do. What we also admire him for is his admission that he was an irritating little sh*t on The Osbournes back in the day.

“I think it was expected that I would be a f*ckhead for the rest of my life. I’m glad I’m not pandering to that stereotype,” he told UK’s You magazine. “I’ve done a lot of stupid things … but if I’m going to go, I’d rather fall off El Capitan than OD in the Viper Room.”

We’re glad you’re not, too, Jack. There are plenty of other rockstar children out there who live up to that stereotype (again, hello, Peaches!) and we don’t need any more, thanks.

On a completely unrelated note, anyone else think he’s turning into Seth Rogen’s long-lost twin these days? [Photo: WireImage]

Zack and Miri Make a Porno Poster Too Racy For U.S.

Kevin Smith’s newest movie, Zack and Miri Make a Porno has a controversial title, and we’ve come to expect films full of obscenity from the writer and director of such lines as “Try not to suck any dick on your way to the parking lot!” and inventor of the stinkpalm. But, just as our mother wouldn’t allow us to see Dirty Dancing because it “sounded” filthy, the MPAA has tried to stand in Smith’s way regarding the film’s rating (no NC-17 for this bad boy, Smith made an appeal for an R rating and won) and now they’ve blocked a poster for the film because they deemed it too vulgar.

In the ad, the stars of the film, Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks, appear to have some visitors, uh, down south. The MPAA must have some pretty dirty minds, it’s totally obvious that it’s just a couple of people helping tie Seth and Elizabeth’s shoes while kneeling in front of them. Said Smith about the ban on the ad: “When you’ve got the word ‘porno’ in the title, naturally, the marketing materials are gonna be scrutinized more closely by the MPAA. I understand they’ve got a job to do, but c’mon … this image isn’t that dirty; they’re both fully clad.” Sadly the ad, while available online, will only be used in the film’s marketing in Canada — apparently they’re mature enough to handle it. Kevin Smith and Seth Rogen’s “Porno” Avoids An NC-17

It’s tough to make an R-rated porno film, but Kevin Smith has pulled it off. The director successfully appealed an NC-17 rating for his Zack and Miri Make A Porno, starring Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks. The film was given the commercially crippling Rating Formerly Known As X three times before Smith was able to convince the board that parents should be able to take their kids to his heartwarming tale of two lifelong friends who fall in love while creating an amateur porn company.

While relatively few movies have been able to win an appeal from the notoriously pro-violence/anti-sex MPAA (watch the hilarious documentary This Film Is Not Yet Rated to learn more about the bizarre process), this is actually the second time Kevin Smith has made the board to change its mind. Check out five of the movies Zack and Miri will be joining in the MPAA Appeals Board Hall Of Fame. [Coming Soon]
