Saoirse Ronan Is Your Third Snow White In Disney’s The Order Of The Seven

Kristen Stewart and Lily Collins, looks like you’re going to have to share that apple once again, because you’ve got company. Oh wait…no, don’t eat any of it! It’s poison! According to TotalFilm, Saoirse Ronan is currently in negotiations to star in The Order Of The Seven, Disney’s long-awaited Snow White remake; the film joins Snow White and the Huntsman and Mirror, Mirror for a grand total of three adaptations of the classic fairytale. The Host actress will reportedly star in the action flick as Brit Olivia Sinclair; according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is set in Hong Kong and follows a “a 19th century-set disparate band of international warriors belonging to a centuries-old order who have lost their way. Their meeting with an Englishwoman being chased by an ancient evil is the catalyst for their redemption.” Here’s hoping the birds still help Snow White get dressed in the morning. Dressed to kill…evil entities!

Now, we know Saoirse can deliver on the action; she stalked and sniped with the best of them as a teenage assassin in last year’s Hanna. But will we still want a bad-ass Snow White after we’ve seen an armor-clad Kristen ride that horse in slow motion down a beach this June? Or will Stewart’s warrior princess only fuel our desire for edgy fairytale adaptations? On a related note, is it too late to add Ariel to the Battleship movie? Maybe the sequel?

The Host: Casting That Other Stephenie Meyer Love Triangle

There’s only a little over a year left before the last Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, hits theaters, and fans aren’t the only ones worried about what will fill that void in their lives. Those of us whose livelihoods rely on fan enthusiasm (being completely honest here!) are a little concerned too! But that’s not the only reason why we’re excited to learn about progress in the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer‘s alien survival drama The Host.

According to Variety, they’ve narrowed down the choices for the two male leads to play opposite Saoirse Ronan. Saoirse will play Melanie, whose body, like almost every other member of the human race, has been invaded by an intelligent, parasitic alien species. After being on the run from the invasion for so long, Melanie is somehow strong enough to remain partially conscious while the alien in her body, Wanderer, tries to take over. And with Wanderer she manages to run away and find the underground hideout where Melanie’s uncle, boyfriend, brother and others have been living. She’s not exactly received with open arms, but while fighting for survival she also winds up in one of the most intriguing love triangles we’ve ever read. That appears to be Stephenie’s specialty, doesn’t it?

In the running to play Melanie’s boyfriend Jared are Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Jai Courtney (One Shot) and Max Irons (Red Riding Hood). And testing for the role of Ian, who falls in love with Wanderer, are Dane DeHaan (In Treatment), Thomas McDonnell (Prom, that’s him pictured on the right, btw), Augustus Prew (The Borgias) and Jake Abel (Ronan’s Lovely Bones co-star).

While we wait for In Time writer/director Andrew Niccol to make up his mind, we’ll be over at Hollywood Crush voting for our picks for the roles.

Saoirse Ronan Invades Stephenie Meyer’s The Host

We’ve already burned through vampires and werewolves, and not one publishing house responded to our Loch Ness monster novel (it’s much hotter than you’d think!). Seeing as how zombies are actually decaying corpses, are aliens destined to be the next teen romance craze? Deadline reports today that Saoirse Ronan is cast in The Host, the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer‘s sci-fi thriller. It’s got everything an audience could want: supernatural beings, inter-species sexual tension, and humans losing control of their minds and bodies to otherworldly forces. You’re right. It seemed hotter when it was vampires.

Seen as how Ronan proved her ability to carry a film as both the fierce fighter in Hanna and the ghostly protagonist of The Lovely Bones, we have no doubt she’ll kill it as Melanie Stryder, one the last humans left on Earth after an alien invasion. Ronan will also play Wanderer, the alien force that seizes control of Melanie, and you better believe there is complicated four-way human-alien romance quadrangle to look forward to. This is a Stephenie Meyer book we’re talking about, after all.

WTF Were They Thinking? The 12 Worst Dressed Stars At The Met Gala

Here they are — our picks for the absolute ugliest, WTF-iest and just way off outfits at tonight’s Costume Institute Gala. The annual event — held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and hosted by Vogue and Anna Wintour — is arguably one of fashion’s biggest nights, and it always amazes us that so many people get it SO.WRONG. Kirsten Dunst! Riri! These are the gals we look to for inspiration, but their outfits, hair and shoes just blahhhh-ed tonight. Christina Hendricks normally wins every time she walks the carpet, but this outfit looks like something she dug out of a dumpster and smeared on her body. Naomi Campbell should throw her rhinestone-covered Blackberry at herself for this abysmal showing (Do we spy a scrunchie?!), Ashley Olsen‘s arms are sleeved in 100% fail and Freida Pinto is going to have to nail it on every red carpet for the rest of the year to make us forgive and forget this hipster douche tie monstrosity.

Check out our top 12 picks below.

Hanna Recap: Be Your Teenage (Assassin) Dream Tonight

Who didn’t spend their teenage years wanting to take on their dad in hand-to-hand combat? Now imagine you and Pops are both trained assassins. Welcome to the fun, pulpy Hanna, a film about a clever young woman with the mind of a mercenary and the social skills of…well, also a mercenary. While the first 20 minutes of Hanna might seem like a bad art house flick, believe me, they are a necessary precursor to the violent, campy fun this movie has in store – just soon as the protagonist gets out of the woods.

Saoirse Ronan Close To Landing That Other Snow White Gig

Saoirse Ronan is apparently thisclose to landing the role of Snow White in the film The Brothers Grimm: Snow White. Armie Hammer (love him) and Julia Roberts are set to co-star as the Prince and Evil Queen, respectively. The Oscar-nominated Saoirse is one of the biggest of the big right now – she was considered for The Hunger Games and is also in talks to star in The Hobbit. Did we mention her new movie Hanna opens next month? Fire, she is on you.

This puts Ronan in direct competition with another in-demand young actress, Kristen Stewart, who is starring as Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman. Charlize Theron is attached to play the Evil Queen, while the search continues for the Huntsman after Viggo Mortensen left the project this week. As if that wasn’t enough Snow White movies, there’s a third in the works – Snow and the Seven.

We’re fans of both Saoirse and Kristen – they’re uber-talented, humble, articulate and dedicated to their craft. In fact, we think BOTH of them will not just pull off the role of Snow White, but completely nail it. Do you have a favorite? Vote in our poll below.

(Some) Stars Skip Super Bowl For Yet Another Award Ceremony

Michael Stuhlberg, Saoirse Ronan, Emily Blunt and Carey Mulligan

While there were tons of celebrities at the Super Bowl this weekend, it’s still trophy season in Hollywood and a handful of stars stayed back Sunday for the 2010 Virtuoso Awards, part of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Among the select few who signed the giant vodka bottle were The Young Victoria‘s Emily Blunt, An Education‘s Carey Mulligan and Saoirse Ronan of The Lovely Bones (awkwardly, of these actresses, only Mulligan is in contending for an Oscar next month). Viral videos aside, Quentin Tarantino outed himself as a less than faithful football fan by attending a director’s roundtable alongside The Hangover‘s Todd Phillips, PreciousLee Daniels and those Academy-bound exes Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron. What, none of these nerds cared about the Saints at all? Get a closer look in the gallery below.

Critics’ Choice Movie Awards: Top 10 Hottest Red Carpet Looks

hottest

There were a lot of hot looks at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and it was no easy task narrowing down the best of the best. Still, we managed to wade through all of sartorial options that Hollywood presented us and we narrowed it down to our ten favorites.

10.

anna-kendrick

Anna Kendrick‘s long black dress had a beautiful silhouette, but what really wowed us was the elegant back detail and frilly bottom. We love her polished ponytail too, which gave the look a fun, youthful touch.

9.

monique

We love the detailing along Mo’nique‘s neckline, but her other accessory (that would be a Best Supporting Actress statue for Precious) is pretty stunning too. Her look is polished and that dress fits her like a glove. This is one of the more understated outfits Mo’nique has worn on the red carpet, and we love it.

Top eight looks after the jump!

Pop Culture IQ Test: Which Celeb Does Not Belong?

lovely-bones-red-carpet

The actors and royalty who mixed yesterday at the world premiere of Peter Jackson‘s The Lovely Bones wore sophisticated, glamorous outfits that fit the somber nature of the movie. But not Sophia Hyat. Apparently, Sophia’s the Phoebe Price of England. A semi-celebrity who has a penchant for wearing outlandish outfits to wherever there might be a paparazzo, Sophia graced the carpet in a hot white dress with the words “Honour Killings” scratched across her chest in blood red lipstick. We understand that honor killings are very real and very heinous. But is this about drawing attention to the cause? Or to her bosom? Or maybe a bit of both?

As for bigger celebrities in attendance, Susan Sarandon and Saoirse Ronan rubbed elbows with Prince Charles and Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall. Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz and Stanley Tucci, whom all have big roles in the tearjerker, were absent. The Lovely Bones premieres in the U.S. on Jan. 15. [Photos: Getty Images, Splash News Online]
