Green Arrow, Judy Greer, Mindy Kaling And Other Pilot News We Love

Usually, it’s hard to think about next fall’s TV lineup when we haven’t even caught up on all the American Idol audition episodes in our DVR, but this year, we’re allowing ourselves to be a wee bit excited. ‘Tis the season for networks to order up pilots, and they seem to have done so with us in mind. The CW is delivering us another hot superhero, while Fox and ABC have gotten the memo that funny ladies are SO IN. Here are some pilots we’re crossing our fingers for:

  • Stephen Amell was announced today as the title character of the CW’s Green Arrow, a rich playboy who saves his down with, you guessed it, super special arrows. The show’s being produced by Green Lantern’s Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, and Fringe co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. Amell most recently played a male prostitute on Hung, but in our minds he will always be known as the vindictive werewolf who tortured Caroline on The Vampire Diaries. And an image search for pics of him shirtless will lead you to some interesting websites. Just saying.
  • Arrested Development vet Judy Greer, who’s been getting rave reviews for her small but pivotal role in The Descendants, is the star of American Judy, a single-camera comedy ordered by ABC, per Deadline. The story, loosely based on her own experience, follows a woman who gets married, moves to the suburbs and becomes a step-mother to kids whose mom is the sheriff of the town.

Will Emily Blunt And Jason Segel Get Hitched In The Five Year Engagement?

Would you watch a movie about a couple who have to keep pushing back their wedding, due to unforeseen circumstances? Normally, we’d answer, no. But when that couple happens to be Emily Blunt and Jason Segel, and it’s directed by Nicholas Stoller and produced by Judd Apatow, and it also co-stars Mindy Kaling, Alison Brie and Chris Pratt, we’ll probably get off the couch and get in line for tickets. The official trailer for The Five Year Engagement has been released. And, OK, we’re sold. But they’ll get married in the end, right? RIGHT? We’re not sure if we can handle all that waiting with no payoff.

Best Celebrity Halloween Pics: The Twitter Edition

Happy Halloween, Fablifers! We’ve already shown you the 40 craziest celeb Halloween costumes, and our 10 faves from this past weekend. But those were all such polished, professional affairs, weren’t they? We’re pretty sure that social networking was created mostly so that we could share hastily snapped pics of ourselves and friends making fools of themselves at Halloween parties. And in that respect — silly celebs in costumes, they’re just like us! The collection below gathers the blurry, the scary, the red-eyed, the not-quite-identifiable and the wish-we-were-there shots that famous people from Nina Dobrev and Lea Michele to Eli Roth and Zachary Quinto posted to their Twitter feeds over the weekend. There are some brilliant homemade costumes in the bunch — a bunch of Glee kids as the Rugrats, Leslie Mann as Kreayshawn — after all, many of these actors started off as geeky theater kids. Some A-listers clearly got professional help with their getups (cheating!). And though some look like lame last-minute costumes, we don’t mind because still love seeing the rich and famous not taking themselves seriously.

Peruse the gallery, steal ideas for tonight, and oooh and ahhh at yet another shot of Heidi Klum miraculously making herself gross.

Emmy Awards 2010: A Baker’s Dozen Of Fashion Disasters

worst-dressed

Many of our choices for Worst Dressed at tonight’s Primetime Emmy Awards will make us unpopular. Alas, a lovely personality does not always lend itself to the wisest red carpet styling.

Some of the evening’s most hideous frocks were draped on the stars we’d most like to grab coffee with – we’re looking at you Betty White, Christina Hendricks, and Mindy Kaling. While fashion risks were refreshing in a sea of mostly black, white, and navy gowns, January Jones and Anna Paquin looked more silly than chic. Here are tonight’s 13 worst offenses.

Did we miss any fashion flubs? Let us know in the comments.
