Marion Cotillard Jabbed With French Award Pin

Marion Cotillard & Frederic Mitterand

Marion Cotillard had an award-related mishap in Paris today, with French culture minister Frederic Mitterand accidentally stabbing her in the chest with the pin of her “Order Of Arts And Letters” medallion, which she was awarded alongside Alice In Wonderland director Tim Burton, who will also lead the jury at this year’s Cannes Film Festival (might be a good year to enter something spooky and/or based on a children’s story, directors. Just saying.).

See photos of Cotillard, Burton and Helena Bonham Carter—in her finest “crazy old British lady” wear, of course—in the gallery below.

Celebrity Oscar Picks: Avatar, Clooney To Win

Throughout awards season, our friend Janell Snowden at VH1 News has been asking celebrities like Nick Jonas, Marion Cotillard, Sean Paul and Death Cab for Cutie for their 2010 Oscar predictions. If the sum total of these celebs are correct, then Avatar will win Best Picture and George Clooney Best Actor at Sunday night’s Academy Awards. Precious and Crazy Heart stand a chance, too. Listen to the hodgepodge of celebs give their predictions, and you’ll catch noteworthy moments like Avatar director James Cameron admitting that his ex-wife’s movie The Hurt Locker might take home the top prize.

Style Wars: Diane Kruger Vs. Marion Cotillard

The celebs at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards are looking especially glam tonight, but the ladies in white definitely caught our eye right away.

German actress and one of the prettier Inglourious Basterds, Diane Kruger, goes head-to-head against Nine star Marion Cotillard for this beauty battle. They both look statuesque and amazing, but while Diane is getting drapey, Marion’s taking a structured stand with a  bit of a metal edge. Who’s looking prettier in their winter whites?

Style Wars: Women Of Nine Lookin’ Fine

Tied with Inglourious Basterds for the most Critics’ Choice Movie Awards nominations, Nine held a screening for the Italians last night in Rome. Gorgeous A-listers Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard represented the star-studded cast on the red carpet, and looked mighty fine doing so. Cruz was elegant in a pale pink curve-hugging beaded gown, while Cotillard showed some leg in a draped black velvet dress. Both of these critically-beloved actresses consistently bring their A-game to the red carpet, but who looked better last night? [Photos: Getty Images]

Mariah Carey Slurs Through Crazy Acceptance Speech At Film Festival

Voters for future film awards will think twice about praising Mariah Carey’s performance in Precious after seeing her acceptance speech at the Palm Springs Film Festival, except those who hope to see her embarrass herself all over again. Stepping on stage to accept Breakthrough Actress with director Lee Daniels—was he there to prop her up?—the superstar danced a little before pausing, sighing and announcing “Please forgive me, because I’m a little bit, um…” Following an unkind suggestion from the audience, she nodded “Yeah…”

Rambling on about the film, the book Push and meeting Lifetime Achievement Award winner Helen Mirren (coincidentally cast for Carey’s role in Precious before dropping out), Carey began applauding, dropped a finger snap and admitted she could be “difficult.” Several minutes—and attempts to applaud her off–later, she thanked the audience for “listening to her little spiel” and departed. Said Sean Penn later in the night, “Think anything’s going to make YouTube tonight?” Uh…yeah.

Other winners at the bash were Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Renner, Anna Kendrick and Morgan Freeman—all of whom are nominated for trophies at the upcoming Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. Check the stars out—and Carey!—on the red carpet in the gallery below.

Nine NYC Premiere Brings Out All The Ladies

Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson

Madonna and Lourdes were only two of the women strutting their stuff at the NYC premiere of Nine last night. For the first time, all the Critics’ Choice Movie Award nominee’s female stars were in attendance on the red carpet: Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson (who skipped out on the LA premiere), Fergie (who missed the London one), Marion Cotillard and Judi Dench. Also present were Daniel Day-Lewis, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Tobey Maguire, Kimora Lee Simmons, Goldie Hawn (supporting daughter Kate) and Naomi Watts (who should have helped pal Kidman with her support). Check out their ensembles in the gallery below.

Blake Takes The Plunge At Pippa Lee Party

Blake Lively

Blake Lively looked like a wedding cake with cleavage at a screening for The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee last night in NYC. Just the kind of relaxing ensemble you want to wear while watching yourself lie naked with Alan Arkin onscreen. “Well, I think it’s uncomfortable, laying in strategically placed clothes that are taped on your body, in front of some strangers,” said Lively about her intimate scenes with the 75-year-old Oscar winner. “We’re all actors, we’re all professionals and we all understood what was happening. Everybody is uncomfortable with those scenes. You’re never going to be comfortable being half-naked in front of anyone. But, it was fine. It was a short scene.”

Sadly, Arkin wasn’t around to share more camera time last night, though co-stars Robin Wright and Keanu Reeves did attend, as well as well-wishers Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Daniel Day-Lewis, whose wife Rebecca Miller directed the film. Check out their styles in the gallery below.
