10 New Things We Love From The Hunger Games Trailer #2

Take note, all you spoilery movie trailer editors: This is how you give us multiple trailers that satisfy our craving (sorry) for new stuff, without giving up the whole movie. The second Hunger Games trailer doesn’t contain a single new scene that wasn’t in the teaser or the first theatrical trailer (except for this one glimpse of Katniss in a yellow dress, above), but it gives us new quotes and new camera angles that reveal just a little more about the characters and plot. For instance, what was just Gale’s voiceover from the teaser about her being stronger than the other tributes we now get to see coming from him directly. And the only thing that kind of bugs us, just because it’s so different from the book, is that opening moment with the pin (more on that later).

The general feeling of trailer #2 is less eerie (and the soundtrack has a lot to do with that), more dramatic. Katniss seems a little more vulnerable, while Peeta starts to come to life a little more. Flip through the gallery of 10 new things we noticed, and then let us know what you noticed too!

Miley Cyrus, A Puppy And A Penis Cake: Liam Hemsworth’s Best Birthday Ever!

Remember a couple of weeks ago, when Miley Cyrus tweeted that she got boyfriend Liam Hemsworth “THE best bday pressie ever” and then posted a photo of an adorable puppy named Ziggy? That was super sweet. But, um, maybe the puppy wasn’t what she was referring to. Maybe it was the giant black penis cake of which TMZ just obtained photos … photos that include Miley about to, um, lick and bite. As one does to a cake, we mean. People’s Choice Awards Cutest Moments

The People have spoken. They apparently like Supernatural more than The Vampire Diaries, but we’ll forgive them for that, because they made some other good choices that wound up giving us a pretty cute People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night. Like any awards show, there was singing, dancing and overly scripted jokes. Also there were kisses and giggles and sweet thank yous. We thought we’d highlight a few of our faves:

10. We saw Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence bonding backstage with co-star Liam Hemsworth’s gf Miley Cyrus. Good thing they get along nicely!

9. Emma Stone, daring to be different in her awesome green tux jacket, managed to make a clichéd message sound sweet: ” You have to stay true to yourself and don’t be afraid even if people say what you do isn’t cool.”

8. Paul Wesley called Ian Somerhalder “Smolderholder” as he opened the envelope for the Favorite Comedy Movie award.

7. Lea Michele pointed out her cousin in the audience WHO LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE LEA MICHELE.

6. Ian Somerhalder was sitting next to Nina Dobrev when she won Favorite TV Drama Actress, but he tweeted her anyway: Congratulations Nina!!! You won!!!! People DO like you;) You rock babe, truly.”

5. Chloe Moretz realized she’s too young to really say “when I was a kid” and then she ended her speech like she was on the phone with all of us, “All right, bye.” Bye, Chloe, see you soon!

Sort-Of New Hunger Games Stills Released

Lionsgate has done all of us a heavy and released a mostly fresh batch of The Hunger Games stills to ogle. While the countdown to March 23 continues, we’re pretty much champing at the bit to get out hands on it, so we’re excited about the “new” photos Lionsgate released this week, even if we’re pretty sure we’ve seen them all before. There are some photos that were previously exclusives with other magazines and sites, like the one of Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket with Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen in a scene that we know is going to make us bawl — when Katniss volunteers herself instead of Rue — as well as one of Lenny Kravitz, Woody Harrelson and Josh Hutcherson as Cinna, Haymitch and Peeta discussing strategy, and a behind-the-scenes shot of Jennifer in the forest. There are also stills of what we’ve seen in the trailer, such as the one of Amandla Stenberg as Rue, warrior Katniss holding a bow, and Katniss and Liam Hemsworth‘s Gale in the meadow and the one we included above, of Katniss being led to the arena. But yeah, so what if it’s all familiar territory? We don’t want the whole darn movie spoiled for us!

Miley Cyrus Gives It Back To A Rude Fan In Costa Rica

It’s times like these that we’re happy that Miley Cyrus is the sort of girl who stands up for herself. She’s in Costa Rica with her boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, for a holiday. Earlier this week, they were heading to get onto a small helicopter when a group of young fans approached her for autographs. She obliged with a couple, and then politely told them they had to move ahead with her schedule. That’s when an extremely rude woman called her an “A—e” out of the blue. You can catch it clearing at 00:26 in the video above! A shocked Miley turned around and said, “What the f—! Are you for real?” And we’re so glad she said that, because that was completely out of line. Seriously, who does that?

Miley posed for a few more photos by the helicopter and then went on her. But she did get on Twitter to explain what happened, tweeting, “Been trying not to tweet & just enjoy the holidays but just to clear something up I would NEVER swear to a fan. When someone yells something”, completing the sentence by writing, “SO rude making ME look like an “a—e” infront of fans who I am more than happy 2 take a picture w/ i cant tolerate that kind of rudeness.” Her last tweet regarding the matter said, “Every1 who was there apologized 4 the womans brusque behavior. She obviously wasnt a fan. Hope every1 has a Merry Christmas! LOVE 2 ALL!” Hopefully that’s the last bit of nastiness she’s encounter on her vacay.

Liam Hemsworth Is This Week’s Hotness!

The power of District 12 is strong already. Proof: After Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, had a significant early lead in our weekly Hotness poll, Hunger Games fans across the globe joined the rebellion and pushed li’l bro Liam Hemsworth to victory and beyond. Miley Cyrus‘ sweetie garnered 72 percent of the vote by the time polls closed today. (We’re guessing the Snow White and the Huntsman followers have been too distracted by that other little Kristen Stewart movie to click and refresh.)

So congrats to Liam. We’re looking forward to seeing a whole lot more of you — and not just Gale’s sadface alone in a meadow — very soon. And now that voting is over, we can all relax and be content with the fact that there is enough Hemsworth beauty to go around, and we never have to choose again. (But, Miley, you might want to hold on a little tighter.)

New Hunger Games Photos Offer Up Even More Effie Trinket Goodness

Just when your hands stopped shaking and you could stop pretending you had something in your eye, the Hunger Games trailer released Monday gets quickly followed up by another dose of cinematic awesomeness. People has new pics of the already-excellent looking film, including Jennifer Lawrence‘s heart-breaking expression as Katniss volunteers to save her sister’s life and a quiet moment between Katniss and Liam Hemsworth‘s Peeta. Also? Effie Trinket. We cannot even. “Katniss is so strong, so courageous, and when faced with this overly positive, super-enthusiastic Effie, [Jennifer] and I definitely had some great moments of conflict,” Elizabeth Banks, who looks as grotesquely fabulous as we would have hoped, told the magazine in their upcoming issue, out on Friday. No, we are not crying again! We seriously have something in our eye again! We need to get a pair of goggles or something so this would stop happening!

Aw, remember when Bradley Cooper was just a sweet newspaper reporter with an unrequited crush on his superspy best friend? We doubt Alias‘ Will would believe today’s news — that Brad is People‘s Sexiest Man Alive — but the rest of us aren’t so surprised. The Top 5 Reveals We Want From The Hunger Games Full Trailer

Cancel your surgery and tell your kids to drive themselves to preschool: the Hunger Games trailer is set to premiere Monday, November 14 on Good Morning America sometime during the 8:00am hour. Josh Hutcherson will introduce the clip (shortly before he has his clothes torn off by howling fans), and the trailer will even be playing on a Jumbotron in Times Square, in case you needed a reason to be screaming Liam Hemsworth‘s name in front of the M&M store. While the Hunger Games teaser trailer offered some hints about the film in August, we are hoping the full trailer will give us more details about a few things, such as:

The Cornucopia: Once we see the Cornucopia shining in the sun, we know the Games are on. So much delicious food, so many deadly weapons…so little time.
Peeta declaring his crush on Katniss: Okay, sure, the “star-crossed lovers” relationship might be semi-manufactured to capture the hearts and minds of a bleak dystopia, but we’ve seen Jennifer Lawrence in Winter’s Bone. We know Jen is going to make that emotion look real.
The mutants: Guys, there has not nearly been enough hype about the bizarro animals, or muttations, that we have to look forward to during the Games. Wolf beasts with human eyes? Yes. Please.
The fashion: Almost as awesome as the sure-to-be-disturbing tracker jackers, we’d love a glimpse of Effie Trinket’s amazing wigs, Caesar Flickerman’s powder blue eyelids or Cinna’s anything.
The girl on fire: Here’s hoping we get a sneak peek of Katniss consumed in (synthetic) flame. If that doesn’t bring non-fans on board, nothing will.
