Kate Beckinsale, Carmen Electra And Kat Graham On The Underworld Red Carpet

Three women really stood out on the Underworld: Awakening red carpet at yesterday’s premiere in Hollywood. The star of the film, Kate Beckinsale stunned in a floor-length, gold sequin-encrusted gown with a fishtail train by Jenny Packham. Carmen Electra opted for a demure cream-colored wool, zippered shift with nude heels, and she’s never looked classier. Top marks for her discreet jewelery as well. Kat Graham, on the right, channeled a sexy vampire with those lips! Her lipstick was a deep purple that was borderline black. We’re also digging her embellished, very dangerous-looking black dress. Are those gold spikes? Kat also lit up the carpet with that neon pink clutch. We love the fact that the three ladies went in completely different sartorial directions but totally worked it out. Which look do you like best — Carmen the demure lady, Kate the glamorous movie star or Kat the sexy goth?

The Golden Globes Back Story: 20 Of The Sexiest Backs On The Red Carpet

Swooping cowls, cut-outs, drapes, racer-backs, sheer lace work … Golden Globe gowns were as sexy from the back as they were in front this year. Whether it was Lea Michele‘s sheer silver Marchesa to co-star Dianna Agron’s and Evan Rachel Wood’s avian-inspired, red-hot lacy Giles Deacon dress and Gucci Premiere emerald gown, respectively —- the back is officially back. A couple of other favorites include a Glee actress again. Naya Rivera stunned in a silver Vera Wang gown which had a lovely keyhole back. We also truly appreciated the back view of Kathleen Robertson’s Maria Lucia Hohan dress, Stacey Keibler’s stunning Valentino, Kate Beckinsale’s Roberto Cavalli and Heidi Klum’s sexy Calvin Klein. Our Favorite Golden Globes Moments: The Artist’s Dog, Penis Jokes And More

We actually had a scorecard ready to mark how many offensive things Ricky Gervais said at tonight’s Golden Globes, but it seems that he decided to leave the raunch and insults to others. Most of it, at least. Anyway, here are our favorite silly, cute, funny and moving moments from the 69th annual awards show, in semi-chronological order:

» Ricky Gervais said he wasn’t allowed to joke about Mel Gibson, or Jodie Foster’s Beaver. “I haven’t seen it myself; that doesn’t mean it’s not any good.”

» Ricky continued his amusing relationship with Johnny Depp by asking him onstage: “Have you seen The Tourist?” To which Depp answered, “No.”

» Julianne Moore and Rob Lowe very gracefully overcame a TelePrompTer fail. And Downton Abbey’s Elizabeth McGovern tripped UP the stairs. And during one cutaway, we saw Dame Helen Mirren chewing. Thus proving stars’ humanness once again.

» While standing next to Kate Beckinsale, Seth Rogen said, “Hello, I’m Seth Rogen, and I’m currently trying to hide a massive erection. ” And then the camera cut away to a show of Jodie Foster’s kids, for some reason.

» Speaking of kids, daughters seemed to be a big theme of the night. Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy winner Michelle Williams thanked her daughter, Matilda, for putting up with having months of bedtime stories in which “all the princesses were read aloud in a Marilyn Monroe voice.” Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series or Miniseries winner Peter Dinklage thanked his daughter who was home with her first babysitter. Best Director winner Martin Scorsese thanked his daughter, Francesca, for introducing him to the book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, on which Hugo is based.

» George Clooney borrowed Brad Pitt’s cane to introduce Moneyball.

Kate Beckinsale Is Molten Hotness At The Late Show

We’re going to be seeing a lot more of Kate Beckinsale since she’s on the promotional circuit for her film Underworld: Awakening (also known as Underworld 4), which is going to hit theaters on January 20. This is not a bad thing. The movie, we’re not so sure of — we’ve quite had our fill of the Underworld series. But to her all we can say is, welcome back to our style files. Kate whetted our appetites with her Flaunt magazine spread in November last year, and she totally upped the ante on The Late Show With David Letterman last night. Lord knows we love a good sequin. So to see her poured into this one-shouldered, glittery Donna Karen dress makes us want to say hallelujah! She finished the look off with soft waves, Christian Louboutin pumps and Neil Lane jewels. Just flawless, thank you very much.

Kate Beckinsale’s Back In The Spotlight With Flaunt Magazine

She may have been away from her year, but this Flaunt magazine spread and cover both further the point that Kate Beckinsale‘s still got it. She’s gearing up for the release of her film Underworld: Awakening — it’s the fourth installment of the Underworld series — where Kate will reprise her role as Selene, the vampire warrior. But did you know that while growing up, the actress had a lot more … erudite claims to fame? She was twice awarded Best Writer of the Year in England. “I was given the prize by Ted Hughes. It was the most exciting thing to this day. she reveals. “It was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m actually getting a poetry prize from Ted Hughes. He’s read it, and he’s picked me.’ That was crazy. What happened?” And then she went and studied Russian and French Lit at New College, Oxford. Who woulda thunk it?

When we see ridiculously attractive celebs driving their Ferraris to some hot Hollywood party with their glamourous spouse by their side, it hurts. To make ourselves feel better, we assume there must be a trade off for being so gorgeous and successful, and that these A-listers must be spectacularly stupid. Our wounded egos desperately try to console us by saying, “Yeah well, they may be better looking, more popular, and have more money than you, but….at least you probably did better on your SATs! And you got that junior year calculus grade up to a C+, so Matt Damon can suck it!”

Salma Hayek Heats Up Cannes’ Palme D’or Ceremony

Thailand took home its first Palme D’Or ever at Cannes this weekend for Apichatpong Weerasethakul‘s Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, which is sort of like Snakes On A Plane in that the title describes the story and it’s full of wild animals (that may be where the similarities end, though). The avant-garde film doesn’t have an American release date yet, but with Alice In Wonderland‘s Tim Burton leading this year’s Cannes jury, we’re sure it will find its way here eventually. Among the gorgeous celebs attending the ceremony were Salma Hayek, Kate Beckinsale, Kirsten Dunst, Penelope Cruz, and acting winners Javier Bardem and Juliette Binoche. Kate Beckinsale‘s dress looked pretty tight at last night’s AmFar gala at the Cannes Festival, so it’s a good thing her cleavage successfully caught her falling earring on the red carpet, keeping her from having to try and pick the low-hanging bauble up from the floor (sadly, her decolletage has been unable to keep her recent films from slipping right down the box office chart). The soiree was a predictably star-studded affair, with Jennifer Lopez, Marion Cotillard, Elizabeth Banks, Grace Jones, Michelle Rodriguez, Mischa Barton, Kristen Dunst, Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton, Rachel Bilson and countless others (including Gerard Butler and Russell Crowe, somehow not disrupting the time-space continuum) enjoying performances by Mary J. Paris and Nicky Hilton helped keep Cannes classy by shaking their moneyspenders at Chopard’s 150th Anniversary Party last night, with Paris grabbing the mic just in case anyone was blissfully unaware they were spending time in her presence (when are we going to see Paris in a skimpy swimsuit? It’s a Cannes tradition!) . Sadly, fellow partygoer Lindsay Lohan wasn’t nearly as outgoing as Paris, keeping her distance from her socialite rival (maybe with LiLo’s next court date so close, she didn’t want to risk throwing a glass).
