Karina Smirnoff Allegedly Calls Off Her Wedding

If E!’s sources are correct, then this would be the second engagement that Karina Smirnoff has called off. The first was with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, whose wedding plans with Karina went kaput in 2009. The dancer postponed her January wedding plans with fiance and Detroit Tigers pitcher Brad Penny in October this year, but now the whole thing is supposedly off. A source said, “They are just two different people.” Apparently, the Dancing With the Stars champ started putting on her engagement ring only for publicity shots but the second cameras were turned off, the ring came off too. While Karina’s spokesperson has declined commenting on this story, something tells us to expect a canceled wedding announcement soon.

J.R. Martinez Wins Dancing With The Stars

Congratulations to J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff who took home the mirror-ball trophy in last night’s finale of Dancing With the Stars. The duo beat out Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake for the prize, and J.R. isn’t planning to let go of it anytime soon. He told E!, “I joked about gluing it on the hood of my car and just driving around L.A. Or be like rappers and make a chain out of it and just wear it around! I’m going to cherish this thing every single day!”

It’s also a love fest between the three finalists, so don’t expect an sore loser comments. After the show, Ricki said, “I was the last girl standing! I really kicked ass tonight with my tango. I’m really proud. I’m very happy for J.R. and Karina. They were so very deserving, and Rob and Cheryl were amazing, so third is good in my book!” Continuing the feel-good sentiment was Rob, who added, “I really did put it all out there. It was up to the fans, and J.R. deserved to win. I’m super happy, and I learned so much about myself.”

Green Lantern Premieres In L.A

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds new film, Green Lantern, is poised to hit theatres tomorrow. In preparation, the big premiere happened at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in L.A yesterday, and most of its cast turned up to celebrate. Blake looked lovely in her white Chanel couture gown, which only someone as leggy as her could pull off. She also brought her family with her including mom Elaine, and sisters Lori and Robyn.

Ryan was not, in any way, overshadowed by his co-star? That light grey suit’s totally working on him! Tim Robbins and Peter Sarsgaard rounded up the main male cast. As for the ladies — and we didn’t know this — Angela Bassett‘s in the film too. Angela, as in Stella who ‘Got Her Groove Back’ in the ”90′s! In it to just watch the film were celebrities like Jason Bateman, Zachary Levi and Karina Smirnoff, who you can all see in the our gallery. Let’s see if this is going to be the summer hit that everyone predicted it to be!

Karina Smirnoff To Pose For Playboy, Problems For DWTS?

Hugh Hefner let the Kat out of the bag yesterday, tweeting, “The May issue of Playboy is unforgettable with Dancing With The Stars’ Karina Smirnoff on the cover & nude inside.” Karina in Playboy means what exactly for the family-friendly Dancing With The Stars? According to sources, they aren’t too happy about this news. “If Karina posed naked,” says an insider, “she can kiss her dancing days goodbye. I hope for Karina’s sake that this isn’t true.”

Apparently, ABC’s hellbent on protecting the image of the show which, apart from a steamy Latin dance or two, is all rainbows and apple pie. Another source revealed, “ABC publicity department controls the image of this show with an iron fist. It’s a cash cow and they are not going to allow its reputation to be soiled by a dancer who wants to do Playboy.” Is that fair? More importantly, is that true? We’ll have to see when the May issue rolls in!

The Situation Can’t Get Situated With Karina Smirnoff

Can you imagine what was going on in The Situation‘s mind when he found out he was paired with Karina Smirnoff on Dancing with the Stars? His brain probably detonated. All that hair gel just needed a trigger anyway.

(And now, for an experiment: We’re going to see how often we can use “the situation” within the text of this post. Because not only has the guy overstayed his welcome in pop culture-land, he now has a permanent home in our brain.)

The situation is that Karina is quite possibly the equivalent of Jessica Rabbit for The Situation. The fact that he has to, probably for the first time in his life, be professional and not try to get his situation into her tutu, is proving to be quite the situation for him. It’s like she’s his kryptonite!

But he’s going to keep the situation under control, explaining, “We look really good together, and we’d probably have cute kids, but I’m pretty sure she has a boyfriend. Unless something happens with that, I’m going to stay respectful. So that’s that situation.”

Ha – Karina would so high-kick him in the situation if he ever tried to get fresh! Come to think of it… it’s probably already happened.

Why didn’t Karina Smirnoff audition for The Last Exorcism? She could have easily gotten the lead, given her unnatural bending abilities. But no amount of contortion could coax the smooth moves out of her partner Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino – the pair tied for last place on the season opener last night.

DWTS Couple Maksim And Karina Call Off Engagement

The dancers on Dancing With The Stars are getting to be as famous as the celebrities they’re partnered with, but sadly it looks like the power couple of the show, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff, have decided to call it quits. The couple was engaged on January 1st of this year and planned to wed in June, 2010, but due to their hectic rehearsal schedules, they could barely make time to plan the wedding.

Smirnoff told E Online earlier this summer, “The only thing we’ve decided on is next year in June. We were supposed to pick the place, but we’ve never actually had the time to go further.” The couple has been busy dancing in “Burn The Floor” on Broadway while also prepping for season 9 of DWTS. Prior to dating Chmerkovskiy, Smirnoff was involved for two years with Mario Lopez, a former contestant on the show. If this trend continues, we expect her to start dating Tom DeLay any minute now.
