Penn Badgley Is Not Feeling Blake’s Heels

For all their public PDAs, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively don’t play up their couplehood on the red carpet. Watching them arrive at the 2009 Angel Ball together last night, we think we caught why the Gossip Girl lovebirds weren’t standing together minutes later: her heels!

“The rest of your dress is black, except the tip of your heels are blue and sparkling. That’s just…I…I don’t get it.” “Oh, Penn, they’re darling!” “I can’t…I can’t be in the same…SHOT as those…I…I’m gonna go inside.” “Oh, Dan…I mean Penn!” We may have made that dialogue up, but Gossip Girl fans know this guy was all indignant and neggy about something.

And I am telling you…that it’s a baby boy for Jennifer Hudson and fiancé David Otunga. The couple, whose wedding plans are still unknown, welcomed the baby on Monday and named him David Daniel.  Baby David came in at a healthy 7 pounds, 14 ounces.

Hudson kept the details of the pregnancy private and never officially announced the pregnancy to the public, instead she just let her fans figure it out as she filled out. It’s the worst-kept secret in Hollywood: Jennifer Hudson is probably pregnant (we assume the father is fiance David Otunga). Though the Oscar-winner won’t admit that she’s sportin’ a baby bump, it was quite clear to anyone who tuned in to yesterday’s Michael Jackson memorial service that she’s expecting. We’ve got video of Jen’s tribute, as well as pics from the event below. People reports that Jen’s allegedly had a baby shower. But when is she due?

Despite denials from her publicist, Essence claims they’ve confirmed that Jennifer Hudson is pregnant. Hudson is engaged to Harvard law grad David Otunga, better known as Punk from I Love New York 2. Rumors that the pair are expecting have been brewing for months, but there is no set date for their marriage.

A few days ago Jennifer Hudson announced that she’s finally set a wedding date, but she’s not telling anyone, not even Ryan Seacrest, when it will be. She and fiancé David Otunga have been engaged since September 2008, and Husdon has some very specific plans for the wedding ceremony.

“I want my dogs to be in my wedding, I am so serious. Oscar might be the ring bearer. We’ll send them down the aisle with a little tux or something, a little dress,” she told Access Hollywood.

A source close to Jennifer Hudson reveals that although she is still mourning from the tragic loss of her mother, brother, and nephew, she is “excited about performing again” at three scheduled dates next month.

Jennifer is set to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, then sing at the MusicCares Person Of the Year Gala and the Grammys two days later.

“So much has happened, but she’s ready,” the source says. “It’s a new year, she’s excited about performing again. She knew it was time.”

The source reveals that Jennifer’s plan to perform wasn’t a calculated decision. “There wasn’t really a moment” that she decided to perform again. The source added that “fans can expect the Jennifer they’ve come to love. She just really loves to perform; it’s who she is, it’s what she does.”

Jennifer Hudson is heading back to work after being in seclusion for six weeks following the brutal murders of her mother, brother, and nephew. Jennifer will begin shooting her music video for her single “If This Isn’t Love,” a video she was scheduled to shoot before the murders. The Dreamgirl was also nominated for four Grammy’s last week, of which she said, “It’s been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing. I am extremely honored and humbled by the nominations.”

William Balfour was arrested yesterday in the murders of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew. Balfour, who is Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law, was previously a “person of interest” in the case. He was being held on suspicion of parole violation.

Balfour’s attorney, Joshua Kutnick, told reporters outside a Chicago police station that his client is innocent. “He vehemently denies that he is guilty in this case,” Kutnick said. “Any evidence pointing to Mr. Balfour is not even thin. It is very, very weak.”

Police haven’t yet disclosed a motive for the killings, but Balfour’s relationship with Julia Hudson (J-Hud’s sister) had deteriorated. On the morning of the killings, Julia called Balfour after learning that her paycheck had been garnered due to unmade payments of a car that Balfour had taken.

Jennifer Hudson has layed low since the tragedy, spending time with her sister and fiance (David Otunga, aka Punk on VH1) in Chicago. Last month, she used her MySpace page to thank fans for their support — and her profile picture still features Julian King, her murdered nephew.

While Jennifer Hudson remains holed up in the protective walls of Donald Trump’s Chicago hotel, her face will soon be plastered all over bus stops and in magazines across the country. Hudson is one of the stars in Gap’s new holiday ad campaign, and she poses in a red sweater, smiling broadly. The image contradicts how we imagine the Oscar-winner is feeling these days as she deals with the enormous loss of her family. Yet she apparently gave the company her blessing to move forward with the ad, which, for lack of better words, is pretty damn cool of her.
