25 Apologies We’ll Fondly Remember From 2011

In the age of Twitter, it’s pretty amazing that more celebrities aren’t putting their foot in it these days. But enough of our favorite (or least favorite) actors, musicians and other public figures managed to say and do the kind of awful things that simultaneously give publicists strokes and keep them in business. After those awful things come the kind of public apologies that make us cringe, squirm and thank god we’re not in their shoes. From Chris Brown to Gilbert Gottfried, Arnold Schwarzenegger to Lea Michele, Hilary Swank to Mythbusters, we had a lot of Schadenfreude to enjoy in 2011. We’re pretty sure the culprits would like us to forget these moments, but here’s a little gallery to remind you:

Lea Michele Sparkles, Stars Shine On New Year’s Eve Red Carpet

Lea Michele nailed it at the world premiere of New Year’s Eve in L.A. She picked this Valentino gown with Christian Louboutin shoes and Neil Lane jewels and hasn’t made one bad decision from head to toe. While she looked elegant, she couldn’t resist hamming it up with Ashton Kutcher (who really needs a haircut) on the red carpet, as you can see above. Looking a lot more streamlined in his suit was Zac Efron, who doesn’t seem to have a bad angle.

We’ve always loved Michelle Pfeiffer whose 53-year-old body looked amazing in a purple Dolce & Gabbana dress, but we aren’t too sure of the matchy-matchy purple pumps that went with the outfit. Wearing the same designer was Katherine Heigl, and while she looked good in her strapless dress, that hair took the attention away. We’re not sure many people can pull off a bouffant bob. Take note, Katy. Also seen were Hilary Swank in a navy, lacy Elie Saab dress, Fergie who piled on the sparkles in Monique Lhuillier and Sofia Vergara in a corseted black sexpot number. Take a look in our gallery below.

Hilary Swank Dumped By PR Team Over Birthday Party Controversy

Hilary Swank, this Chechen birthday party scandal came out of nowhere! Almost as surprising as, say, hearing Justin Bieber get busted for international espionage, Entertainment Weekly reports that the New Year’s Eve star got dropped by her PR team 42West after attending festivities honoring alleged human rights violator Ramzan Kadyrov earlier this month. This news is almost as shocking as when Hilary momentarily tried to have a rom-com career. Did anyone actually see P.S. I Love You? Anyone at all?

The company reportedly dumped Swank after the two parties disagreed on how to handle the fallout of the birthday scandal, which involved Hilary accepting money to speak at the leader’s shindig. The Academy Award-winner also reportedly fired her manager Jason Weinberg over the controversy, in addition to promising to donate her speaking fee to charity. Wow. Who knew that, when Hilary isn’t playing tough characters with extremely defined jawlines, she’s a seriously trouble starter. You might as well have told us Swank was involved in a steroid scandal or something. No, don’t tell us! We don’t want to know!

Hilary Swank Apologizes For Going To That Chechen Leader’s Birthday Bash

It’s always so awkward when you go to the birthday party of someone you don’t know, and then you find out they are a Chechen leader accused of horrible human rights violations? Makes you wish you stayed home with good old Netflix Instant instead. Earlier today Hilary Swank apologized over Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov’s birthday concert, which the New Year’s Eve actress attended earlier this month. Controversial figure Kardyrov has been accused of a range of offenses from abduction to murder, in addition to making us never want to watch Million Dollar Baby ever again.

In addition to Swank, Kadyrov party was attended by Jean Claude Van Damme and a host of Russian celebrities. “I deeply regret attending this event,” Hilary, who reportedly did not know who the concert was for, said in a statement. “If I had a full understanding of what this event was apparently intended to be, I would never have gone.” Unfortunately for her P.R. people, Hilary simply loves to party all the time. Party all the time. Party all the tiiiiiiiiime.

Full New Year’s Eve Trailer Looks Like A Bon Jovi-Slapping Good Time

Like we’re going to pretend we didn’t enjoy seeing Katherine Heigl slap Jon Bon Jovi in the full New Year’s Eve trailer. You know we’re not made of stone. While the movie is still overstuffed with celebrities from Ashton Kutcher to Zac Efron, and Michelle Pfeiffer‘s wig still looks like it crawled out of a drainage ditch behind the mop factory, it’s hard not to like a film that’s basically 90 minutes of witty banter leading up to a bunch of A-lister smooching and falling in love. Count us in! Oh, except for the part when Abigail Breslin shows off her brasserie to her horrified mother Sarah Jessica Parker for no apparent reason. What was that about? Girl child is 15!

New Year’s Eve Trailer Stars 1,000 Celebs, One or Two Decent Jokes

Happy New Year’s, everyone in Hollywood! The New Year’s Eve trailer is out, and celebs are sprinkled throughout like the beer-soaked confetti covering your carpet on January 1st. The cast includes, but is not limited to, Lea Michele, Ashton Kutcher, Zac Efron, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sofia Vergara, Abigail Breslin, Seth Meyers, Josh Duhamel, Sienna Miller, Carla Gugino and a partridge in a pear treeeeeee. Oh, and Robert De Niro for a split second at the very, very end.

Maybe we’ve just been burned before, but anyone who’s seen Valentine’s Day, director Gary Marshall’s other rom-com starring five billion A-listers, knows that more celebrities does not mean more enjoyment (unless we’re talking about a charity fundraiser or an orgy). Not that the movie doesn’t have a few high points: an incredibly schlubby Michelle Pfeiffer, a mid-custody-battle Halle Berry, Katherine Heigl and Jon Bon Jovi‘s slap-a-thon and, of course, the Hilary Swank/Ludacris coupling that we are praying is actually the movie’s main focus. If we do end up seeing this movie, it’ll be in the same way we ring in the New Year: drunk, in Times Square and wearing only a diaper and sash.

Stars Swing By The Something Borrowed Premiere, Kate Hudson Nails It!

We’re saluting Kate Hudson right about now. She looks like she’s about to pop and getting dressed up for movie premieres can’t be the most comfortable thing to do at this stage. But look at her! She looks absolutely stunning in that primrose yellow Versace gown! She wore it to the Hollywood premiere of Something Borrowed held at Grauman’s Chinese theatre yesterday. Isn’t it the perfect choice? We couldn’t hope to look half as good, and we’re not eight months pregnant!

Even though the silhouette is completely different, we don’t know why we were reminded of that other iconic yellow dress she wore on screen in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. Looks like yellow is her color! Kate finished up her look with a ring and earrings from her new collaboration with Chrome Hearts called CH + KH. All the other celebrities paled in comparison, but we’ve put a gallery together of the event for you to check out. Ginnifer Goodwin, Hilary Swank, Kat Graham and more in the photos below.

Celebrities Party It Up At The Vanity Fair Oscar Party

How gorgeous did everyone look at the massive Vanity Fair Oscar party at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood! We had already seen the likes of winners Natalie Portman and Colin Firth at the show, but plenty of other celebrities, who we hadn’t necessarily focussed on, came out to play. And one couple who got adorably frisky together were Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, who held hands and were quite cozy through out. Can we also say Selena rocked it in a gorgeous red Dolce & Gabbana gown? Sure it’s grown up, but Ms Gomez pulled it off admirably especially with the Biebs accessorizing her arm! She also was cutesy with pal Taylor Swift who sparkled (as usual) in a strapless gold beaded Zuhair Murad mini dress.

Gwyneth Paltrow also changed out of her Oscar gown into the Michael Kors number she wore to perform onstage, and posed with buddy Cameron Diaz. The latter’s legs went on for miles in a flirty short-short Carolina Herrera. Other couples included Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel who wore sexy Versace, and Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin who looked great in a red Monique Lhuillier dress. Glamazons Galore At Glamour Magazine Gala

glamour_main

Glamour Magazine celebrated it’s 20th Annual Women of the Year gala last night at New York’s legendary Carnegie Hall. The awards honor both the megastars, as well as the not-so-famous women who have made a positive impact in the world. Queen of All Media Oprah was on hand, as was actual Queen Rania of Jordan (WTF!? a real queen!), but every woman was dressed like royalty as they made their way across the red carpet!

You couldn’t miss Miss Fergie who sizzled in a red dress with husband Josh Duhamel. Kate Hudson killed it in a platinum off-the-shoulder gown, and honoree Julia Roberts made us feel all warm and fuzzy in a dark demure outer wrap.

Some celebs went for a more off beat look. Kelly Osboune hit the town in a peacock-like sequined top and retro peg skirt. Our beloved Janelle Monae somehow rocked the all-black plus cape look without crossing into goth or Batman territory, while Hilary Swank had a less successful fashion statement with her ancient-Greek-chic tight gold bodice.
