Gillyyyyyy! While there’s no definitive word as to whether Kristen Wiig will stick around for another season of Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels‘s remarks last night at the second season premiere of Fred Armisen‘s Portlandia certainly left room for a question mark. You know, like the question mark you might put after the word “WHYYYYYYYYYY?”

When asked if the Bridesmaids star would return after this year, Lorne admits, “I really don’t know. We haven’t really talked about it. We still have 14 shows to do this season.” As for what the show will do without her, Michaels says, “I don’t know. I don’t know. I certainly don’t want her to leave.” Neither do we! Not so soon after she gave us flirting coach Rebecca LaRue! She has so much left to teach us!

Not everyone has the time or energy to run a feminist bookstore or accidentally join a polygamist cult whilst researching cruelty-free poultry, but that doesn’t mean Portlandia stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein haven’t picked up their fair share of Portlandish habits. “I eat at these food carts,” SNL’s Armisen said at the show’s second-season premiere party last night in Manhattan. “These carts that just serve food out on the street? I love it.” Unlike the citizens of the beautiful Pacific Northwest, however, Fred will gladly spend all day with you in exchange for cold hard cash. And that, dear reader, is pure New Yorkish…ness…ery. You get our point.

His co-star, Wild Flag guitarist Brownstein, adds, “I do ride my bicycle when I can. I’m kind of a fair-weather biker. I refuse to bike in the rain.” However, she admits, “I’m not very crafty. I don’t do pickling. I don’t sew … I don’t usually put birds on things.” Oh no, does that mean Carrie has to give back her Portland passport? We imagine it’s assembled out of cork and salvaged handlebar mustaches.

If Helen Mirren‘s appearance in the hilarious When Harry Met Sally 2 trailer wasn’t enough viral goodness for you this week, the Oscar winner’s Saturday Night Live promo should satisfy your craving for more classy ridiculousness. While the first two bits of the above video are your usual brief zingers, things get a little wilder when Fred Armisen praises her work in a remake of an ’80s movie. “Oh, you mean Arthur?” she says. Fred shakes his head no, and Helen offers “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo?” “Yes!” cries Fred, as the two bust into moves that, while not technically breakdancing, certainly got our heads spinning. Can we expect more royal boogaloo when she hosts the show this weekend?

True story! Before I worked here at VH1, I was an editor for Vulture, which is New York magazine’s entertainment vertical*. In the halcyon days of January 2009, I wrote a brief post called “Fred Armisen Making Time With Peggy Olson” when I first heard the news that the SNL funny man was dating Elisabeth Moss. And you know what? Less than an hour later, I received an email from none other than Fred himself, a missive which: A) Thanked me for writing a nice piece and B) Explained how in love he was with “Lizzie.” Of course, this endeared me even more to them as a couple, a couple who I already felt was bringing more goodness into the world than evil. (As someone who writes about celebrities for a living, believe me, I rarely feel this way.)

So, naturally, it came as a total bummer when I read last month that the couple was calling it quits after just seven months of wedded bliss. But hey, these things happen, the two of them would surely play nice in the sandbox and peacefully move on with their lives, right? Wrong-o.

Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss Engaged To SNL‘s Fred Armisen

Mad Men hotties sure love their dorks, don’t they? Elisabeth Moss—Peggy Olson to the show’s fans—revealed that she’s engaged to SNL cast member Fred Armisen. “It happened just a few days ago,” Moss told USA Weekend. “It’s private, so I don’t want to share the details of how it happened, but I will say it was perfect.” Moss had a cameo on the SNL episode hosted by Mad Men co-star Jon Hamm in October…think that’s where they met?

Another question is whether Armisen will join Moss in the church of Scientology. That’s right, Xenu fans…Moss is a second-generation member of the controversial religion. Remember, Fred, “girls need clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat.”
