Ryan O’Neal Blames Daughter Tatum, Rest Of Family For Farrah Fawcett’s Cancer

Ho boy. We are not research scientists, but we are going to go ahead and question the science behind this particular theory. During his Piers Morgan interview, Ryan O’Neal blamed Farrah Fawcett’s cancer on his tumultuous family, specifically (and by specifically, we mean by name) daughter Tatum O’Neal. “What bothers me the most is that there was turmoil during my love affair with Farrah. A lot of it caused by my family, by my kids. All of them, but particularly Tatum,” O’Neal told a seemingly stunned Morgan. “I just think, if she had never met us, would she be alive today? Nobody knows what causes cancer. She didn’t smoke. She didn’t drink. She exercised every day and believed in good health. And then we came along.” So basically he’s narrowed the causes of cancer down to cigarettes, drinking, lack of exercise or actress Tatum O’Neal. How would you even test something like that? The woman can only stand next to a cage of lab rats for so long.

The odd part about this (besides, you know, all of it) is the idea that troubled Tatum is especially to blame, when both brother Redmond O’Neal as well as Ryan himself have been repeatedly busted for drug use. “Maybe it’s not true, but it’s possible.” O’Neal admits when Morgan pushes him on his hypothesis, before adding “Sorry Tatum, but you probably know, too.” We look forward to seeing O’Neal’s upcoming findings in the peer-reviewed journal, “Ryan O’Neal’s Journal Of Soul-Crushing Assumptions.”

Redmond O’Neal Arrested Again, Goes Back To Jail From Rehab

Redmond O'Neal

Redmond O’Neal is back in jail. The troubled son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal was on his first 24-hour pass from rehab Dec. 29th when he was picked up on drug charges, according to Radar. Having violated probation—he was arrested along with his father in September 2008, and drugs were found in his room at a treatment center last April—Redmond faces up to six years in prison for his latest crime.

O’Neal was not present in court for a hearing concerning his rehab stint Tuesday, but a written letter requested by the judge was delivered. The contents of O’Neal’s letter to the judge were not revealed. While Fawcett left her $6 million estate to her only son, access to the funds are dependent upon his recovery.

Farrah Fawcett Gives $100k To Secret Lover In Will

Farrah Fawcett & Greg Lott

Though ex-husband Ryan O’Neal may have milked the most publicity out of Farrah Fawcett‘s death, her will suggests another man was closer to her heart. Greg Lott, a college boyfriend who recently revealed the pair had been seeing each other for the last 11 years, was left $100,000 by the Charlie’s Angels actress, according to papers found by Radar. O’Neal, who kept Lott from seeing Fawcett in her final days, calling him “a disgruntled ex-boyfriend from the Sixties,” received nothing.

“I last spoke to Farrah late on the night of April 9 – two-and-a-half months before she died,” Lott told the Daily Mail in August. “I never got to say goodbye to Farrah. Ryan shut me out of her life.” Lott was spotted feuding publicly with O’Neal last month. “They want to control the Farrah myth and that revolves around the great love story between her and Ryan. I just want to tell the truth about my relationship with her and people can make up their own minds.”

Griffin & Ryan O'Neal

Griffin O’Neal, son of Ryan O’Neal, isn’t done making accusations about his estranged father. Two months after telling Larry King that the elder O’Neal first gave him cocaine at age 11 and enabled his stepbrother Redmond‘s own dependency issues, Griffin is accusing Ryan of having beat both him and late stepmother Farrah Fawcett, breaking her arm in 1983. “My dad went into a rant,” he told The National Enquirer. “Farrah came flying at him to defend herself, he blocked her and, in the process, broke her arm. They spun the truth to protect Ryan. I was there, I saw it happen.” Griffin continues to insist that his father only stayed at Fawcett’s bedside to “make sure he’d be in Farrah’s will.”

Griffin, who was denied entry to Fawcett’s funeral earlier this year, became estranged from his father in 2007 after a violent fight ending with Ryan’s arrest for suspicion of assault. The O’Neal men, who have both been arrested for drug and violence related crimes in years past, accused each other of hitting Griffin’s then-pregnant girlfriend with a fire poker.

Ryan O’Neal Hits On Daughter Tatum At Farrah’s Funeral

Maybe this explains why Farrah Fawcett didn’t leave anything in her will to her longtime love Ryan O’Neal: Fawcett wasn’t even buried yet and O’Neal hit on a woman at her funeral. And the woman, O’Neal later realized, was his daughter Tatum.

Ryan told Vanity Fair that at Fawcett’s funeral, a blonde woman approached him to give him a hug and, not recognizing her as Tatum, he said, “I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blond woman comes up and embraces me … I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’She said ‘Daddy, it’s me – Tatum!’ I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter. It’s so sick.”

The O’Neals have had a famously turbulent relationship, but we didn’t think they were so estranged that Ryan wouldn’t be able to recognize his own daughter. On the other hand, good thing it wasn’t actually some strange Swedish woman he had hit on, the Swedes are so bad at understanding our American funeral pickup rituals. Tatum laughed it off, saying, “That’s our relationship in a nutshell. You make of it what you will. It had been a few years since we’d seen each other and he was always a ladies’ man, a bon vivant.” Ugh, this whole thing is Bad News Bears. [Photo: GettyImages]

Farrah Fawcett Leaves Estate To Troubled Son

Farrah Fawcett has reportedly left her currently incarcerated son Redmond O’Neal $6 million – Just the perfect gift for a meth addict! Not so fast – “Farrah appointed two trustees to make sure the money supports her son’s journey into sobriety rather than giving him the means to destroy himself,” a source says. “Redmond’s inheritance will be tightly controlled.”

Redmond was in jail on drug-related charges when Farrah died and Farrah’s longtime companion and Redmond’s father Ryan O’Neal told her to “please forgive him, that he was so very, very sorry.” [Source: FoxNews.com; Photo: Getty Images]

“30 Rock,” “Mad Men” Get More Emmy Love

tina-fey-jon-hamm
It looks like “30 Rock” will clean up again at this year’s Emmy Awards. Tina Fey‘s beloved sitcom, which won outstanding comedy series last year, snagged 22 Emmy nominations today. In the drama department, the ’60s flashback masterpiece “Mad Men” raked in 16 nominations, including a nod for the second consecutive year for its lead actor Jon Hamm. Considering that Hamm also guest stars on “30 Rock,” he and Tina Fey have a shot at ruling this year’s show, to be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris (also a nominee) and broadcast live on Sept. 20 from L.A.’s Nokia Theatre. Other highlights …

  • Farrah Fawcett, who never won an Emmy, may win one posthumously for “Farrah’s Story,” her documentary chronicling her battle against cancer. (Expect tears when the award is accepted on her behalf.)
  • “Big Love” was nominated for outstanding drama series, but its actors weren’t nominated for anything. (Does that make sense?)
  • “Gossip Girl” was snubbed. (Appalling, xoxo)
  • “Family Guy” was nominated for best comedy series, making it the only animated show since “The Flintstones” to land in that category. (Woot!)
  • Jemaine Clement of “Flight of the Conchords” is up for lead actor in a comedy. (Hipsters rejoice.)
  • Sarah Silverman was nominated for lead actress in a comedy series for the “Sarah Silverman Program” on Comedy Central. (We think her show sucks. Are we the only ones?)
  • Highly-rated “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ was snubbed from the reality competition category. (Shock! Not really.)
  • “ER” and “Desperate Housewives” didn’t receive any nominations in any major categories. (Where do old shows go to die?)
  • “True Blood” was shut out of all major categories even though its star Anna Paquin won a Golden Globe earlier this year. (Dear TV Academy, quit being so snobby.)
  • “Grey Gardens” stars Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange are both up for lead actress in a miniseries or movie.
  • “Breaking Bad” and “Dexter” scored nominations for outstanding drama series and for its lead actors. (Duh.)
  • Once again, HBO dominated with 99 Emmy Award nominations. Showtime got 29 and NBC led the major networks with 67. After the jump, read a list of the nominees in major categories for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards.

Last Thursday, amid the hubbub of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett‘s deaths, rumors were also flying about Jeff Goldblum falling to his death on a movie set in New Zealand. Twitterers everywhere were hash-tagging “RIP Jeff Goldblum” to the point where the story was actually reported as fact on the Australian news. What must it be like to hear the news of your own demise but actually be alive and kicking, we wondered?

Well, last night Goldblum appeared on the Colbert Report and stood by while listening to a pair of Australian newscasters report on his death and then hilariously eulogized himself on the air. “No one will miss Jeff Goldblum more than me. He was not only a friend and mentor, but he was also me. . .When Jeff Goldblum passed away, a little bit of all of us died. I will be missed.”

Rest in peace, Jeff Goldblum.
