TheFABLife’s 50 Hottest Fashion Moments Of 2010

taylor_lautner_emma_carey

Is it just us, or do there seem to be more and more televised award shows each year? That means one thing (and it has nothing to do with awards)—there’s more red carpet fashion than ever. When we compiled our list of favorite fashion moments from 2010, we had quite a crop to choose from. Gone are the days where the only shows worth mentioning were the Emmys, Grammys and Oscars. This year’s style compilation comes to you courtesy of the Creative Arts Emmys, the SAG Awards, and even the ESPYs. Oh, and a couple dozen film premieres, too. Check out who made our cut for best dressed celebs of 2010 in the gallery below—including just about everyone from Mad Men, a very GOOP-y celeb we love to hate, and the most famous half-vampire couple ever.

The Ultimate Fashion Victim Gallery: Stars Before They Had Stylists…Or Style

awkward_main

Before the stars were stars, they were normal people trying to make a living. Every penny they made was spent on rent and food, not stylists and clothing. That’s why it’s so awesome to see celebrity before-and-after shots: getting a glimpse of what J.Lo looked like with crazy eyebrows or when Alec Baldwin was just a sliver of his current self. We wanted to honor some of our finest actors and performers by going back in time—back to when no one could bother to get their clothes tailored, they were too cheap to use anything but boxed hair color, and the word “stylist” didn’t even exist in Hollywood. Some of these people are a victim of the era from whence they came, but others have no excuse. The important thing to remember: these people had a choice about how to dress, and these are the outfits they chose. The awkward, tragic outfits they chose.

The International Emmy Awards: A Who’s Who Of “Why Them?”

62585888

Before we discuss the absolute randomness of just who attended the International Emmy Awards last night in New York, let’s first discuss how amazing an un-Peggy-Olsen-like Elisabeth Moss looked last night at the ceremony. The actress is a far cry from her dowdy copywriter self on Mad Men and we love the new long hair. We really can’t get over how gorgeous she is here.

So while it makes sense for Moss, star of an Emmy-winning program, to attend the international version of the awards, some of the other attendees are a curiosity. Jason Priestley served as the evening’s host for starters, which is weird, and Peter Facinelli and Melissa Joan Hart were presenters. Sure, they’re all stars in their own Twilight-y, Melissa And Joey-ish ways, but what a random crowd. Simon Cowell was also on hand to receive the International Emmy Directorate Award. For a full list of winners, check out the International Emmys site, and for more photos of the eclectic group that gathered, check out our gallery below.

The Stars Of Mad Men: Before They Landed Roles On TV’s Hottest Show

mad_men_then

Despite withdrawal shakes looming for Monday morning, we’re counting the minutes to the season 4 finale of Mad Men. For the last 12 weeks, we’ve looked forward to 10PM EST every Sunday, when we unabashedly gaze at the beauty and talent that is Jon Hamm, January Jones, Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss. The critically-acclaimed and audience-adored show has launched these four actors, among others, from unrecognizable to A-List. From commercials and guest spots to blockbusters and glamorous gowns, the stars of Mad Men have hit the big time.

With its spotlight rookies, Mad Men also hosts some onscreen vets like John Slattery, Robert Morse, and Cara Buono. Where were they before the mod offices of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce? Check out our before and after gallery to find out. [Photos: Getty Images, Disney]

Elisabeth Moss and Fred Armisen’s Divorce Is Getting Uglier By The Minute

Red Is The Color Of Anger, You Know!

True story! Before I worked here at VH1, I was an editor for Vulture, which is New York magazine’s entertainment vertical*. In the halcyon days of January 2009, I wrote a brief post called “Fred Armisen Making Time With Peggy Olson” when I first heard the news that the SNL funny man was dating Elisabeth Moss. And you know what? Less than an hour later, I received an email from none other than Fred himself, a missive which: A) Thanked me for writing a nice piece and B) Explained how in love he was with “Lizzie.” Of course, this endeared me even more to them as a couple, a couple who I already felt was bringing more goodness into the world than evil. (As someone who writes about celebrities for a living, believe me, I rarely feel this way.)

So, naturally, it came as a total bummer when I read last month that the couple was calling it quits after just seven months of wedded bliss. But hey, these things happen, the two of them would surely play nice in the sandbox and peacefully move on with their lives, right? Wrong-o.

The 20 Best Dressed At The Emmys: From Snoozeville To Sizzletown

best-dressed

Now that we’ve sent ourselves to the slaughter by placing Betty White on our worst dressed list, let’s save face by reviewing the success stories of tonight’s Primetime Emmy Awards. The cast of Glee hit high notes with Lea Michele aiming for full-on drama in an Oscar de la Renta, Jane Lynch in a regal Ali Rahimi, and Heather Morris taking us all by surprise in Ina Soltani. Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss emerged from the shadow of her often more glamorous castmates in Donna Karan. Big winner of the night Claire Danes was flawless, while Kim Kardashian was white hot in a Grecian Marchesa.

While all fabulous, the Top 20 Best Dressed induced everything from quiet snores to sweaty palms. See how your favorite boob tube stars ranked below. [Photos: Getty Images]

Casting Couch: Top Ten Actresses That Could Replace Megan Fox In Transformers 3

foxreplacements

Hey there, Michael Bay! Not sure that we’ve been properly introduced. Here at The FABLife, we’re big fans of the way you are able to subtly wrench powerful emotional performances out of your actors, and we’re surely not the first to tell you that your mise-en-scène would make Truffaut weep with jealousy. Just kidding, we mostly love you because there’s no one better in the business at blowing sh*t up.

And hey, we heard the news that you fired Megan Fox from Transformers 3. We applaud the decision; after all, you can’t let some scrawny, hammer-thumbed bimbette tarnish the directorial legacy that you’ve been building ever since you first stepped behind the lens as the director of Playboy Video Centerfold: Kerri Kendall! Gotta keep your eye on the prize, can’t let one bad apple ruin the bunch, we get it.

But since we’ve heard that you’ve already started filming the third installment of Transformers in Los Angeles, we figured you might need some help finding a new love interest for Shia LaBeouf. To that end, we have gone to the trouble of compiling a list of ten actresses who could replace that ungrateful harlot, Megan Fox, as well as the reasons you’ll want to talk to them. Hopefully this will save you some time and allow you to complete the film in time for its planned release date of July 4, 2012!

Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss Engaged To SNL‘s Fred Armisen

Mad Men hotties sure love their dorks, don’t they? Elisabeth Moss—Peggy Olson to the show’s fans—revealed that she’s engaged to SNL cast member Fred Armisen. “It happened just a few days ago,” Moss told USA Weekend. “It’s private, so I don’t want to share the details of how it happened, but I will say it was perfect.” Moss had a cameo on the SNL episode hosted by Mad Men co-star Jon Hamm in October…think that’s where they met?

Another question is whether Armisen will join Moss in the church of Scientology. That’s right, Xenu fans…Moss is a second-generation member of the controversial religion. Remember, Fred, “girls need clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat.”

Mad Men Storms The Emmys

Mad Men won Outstanding Dramatic Series at the 2008 Emmys last night, becoming the first regular cable series to receive the honor (and the first cable program—period—to win the award for its first season). Unsurprisingly, the glamorous cast showed up dressed to the nines to celebrate their smash success. Check out photos of Christina Hendricks, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Jon Hamm and others—as they show off a more modern sense of style, for a change.
