The Rock Discusses Osama Bin Laden, Looks Forward To Being Your President

Let’s just get this out of the way first: Dwayne Johnson knew about the death of Osama bin Laden before you did. He knew about it before the rest of the world did. How exactly did The Rock find out that the notorious Al-Qaeda leader had died before the president officially announced it in May 2011? “I got friends in high places and low places. It was a very interesting day; I’m proud of our country and proud to be American,” the G.I. Joe: Retaliation star coyly told MovieFone. “The individuals who were there were proud to let me know. I knew the president was going to give his speech; I thought he was going to give it at a certain time and so I thought, I think it’s appropriate that I tweet, ‘I’m damn proud to be an American,’ and keep it in that space without giving away too much information.” So … how much you want to bet President Obama just has The Rock on speed dial? It’s all adding up!

While currently promoting his muscle-bound role in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Johnson is already looking forward to the day he will be Leader of the Free World. “Right now the best way that I can impact the world is through entertainment,” explains Johnson. “One day, and that day will come, I can impact the world through politics. The great news is that I am American, therefore I can become president.” Wow, looks like SNL’s “The Rock Obama” was eerily prescient. Well, he’s got our vote. We’re all for universal health care! And not getting our arms ripped out of their sockets!

Taylor Lautner And The Rock As David And Goliath?

Now that every fairytale in Western civilization has been mined for movie scripts, it only makes sense for studios to delve back into the great action story ever told: the Bible. Allegedly Taylor Lautner And Dwayne Johnson may star in the upcoming Goliath movie, based on the age-old tale of a giant warrior defeated by the quick wit and cunning of a teenage boy with his shirt off. This story has “Hollywood gold” written all over it!

While neither actor is officially signed on yet, Twilight producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are developing the film with director Scott Derrickson, meaning as far as we’re concerned, the role of David has already been narrowed down to Lautner and Robert Pattinson, and Lautner and Pattinson only. And seriously, what’s Rob going to do in this film? Angst Goliath to death?

Dwayne Johnson May Join Up With GI Joe For The Sequel

With Fast Five scoring far bigger numbers than any previous Fast & The Furious movie, it’s clear that a little Rock won’t hurt your action franchise. So it’s not shocking to learn that Dwayne Johnson may appear in the GI Joe sequel, possibly as the popular character Roadblock. There should be plenty of room for the former wrestler, as it’s been rumored that only a few of the characters from the first movie will be returning, with Channing Tatum‘s Duke the most likely. While the first film was a definite success, there was plenty of room for improvement—we’re especially glad no one’s calling for Marlon Wayans to come back—and J0hnson would be an easy way to go about that.

As for the franchise that made this all possible, the odds for a sixth Fast film are pretty good, with Johnson’s badass federal agent now firmly part of the musclebound family. “Well, it all depends,” he told Access Hollywood, on how much a— I could kick in that movie,” he told Access Hollywood. “I’m sure they’re getting ready to start writing away.” Yeah, somebody get that 5-year-old screenwriter on the case!

Dwayne Johnson To Play Country Singer Charley Pride In Biopic

Here’s some news that will separate the true Dwayne Johnson fans from his fair-weather friends. The actor formerly known as The Rock has reportedly signed up to play legendary country singer Charley Pride in an upcoming biopic—a role previously penciled in for Terrence Howard. “Terrence, it seems, is tied up on other involvements for a few years,” said Pride in an interview with the Telegraph-Journal. “Terrence is no doubt a more in-depth actor academically, but Dwayne is such a force on screen.” Yeah, yeah, giant muscles…but The Rock as a country singer?

And here’s where the true Johnson acolyte says “ah, but Dwayne has already played a country singer in Be Cool, the 2005 sequel to Get Shorty.” Granted, that character was a gay Samoan bodyguard whose music was (intentionally) horrible, while Pride is a black Country Music Hall Of Fame inductee from Mississippi. Still, Johnson is half-black/half-Samoan and Pride’s pre-fame baseball career could help explain away the massive physique. Hey, maybe Dwayne will even lay off the reps to prepare.

Watch a cowboy-dressed Dwaye Johnson sing “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)” in Be Cool after the jump—for some reason, we’re guessing Charley hasn’t.

The Academy Grieves As Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Returns To WWE

We can only assume that being snubbed for both Tooth Fairy and Why Did I Get Married Again? is what finally caused The Rock to return to WWE. After seven years apart from the world of wrestling that made him semi-famous, actor Dwayne Johnson slipped back into his Rock persona once again as it was announced he would host Westlemania XXVII on April 3, his first since 2004. “You helped me accomplish my goals, helped me accomplish my dreams because you never lost my side,” Johnson told the howling audience on last night’s WWE’s Raw. “Thank you, I love you, and it is because of you that I’m back in this ring and it’s because of you, and I give you my word, that I am never, ever, going away.” Because what’s more important: a statue declaring your superior acting ability, or the sweet familiar sting of Spandex burn? We thought so.

Before you run out and get your copy of Race To Witch Mountain turned into a commemorative bronze sculpture though, Dwayne’s triumphant return to the ring doesn’t mean he’ll be abandoning his film career all together. In 2011, we can look forward to Johnson’s role in Fast Five, the latest in The Fast And The Furious series, as well as Sinbad in the new Arabian Nights. “After seven long years … finally The Rock has come back home,” he said. As long as we can still get a Scorpion King 2, Dwayne can live in whatever home he wants.

Katherine Almost Shows A Heigl At ShoWest Awards

Katherine Heigl & Billy Bush

We still don’t get why this comes so soon after the Oscars, but last night’s ShoWest Awards were redeemed by Katherine Heigl‘s dress, which broke a during her Female Star Of The Year acceptance speech and almost revealed a prized part of her anatomy. Heigl impressively succeeded in catching the strap before we got a look at her star-shaped aureole pastie, proving just how badly she’s determined to keep nude screencaps of herself off the web. Despite how it looks in the above photo, Billy Bush did not just pull a Justin Timberlake on her.

Many a star was on hand for the annual movie expo, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Hudgens, Robert Downey Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Zach Galifianakis. See all these celebs and more in our red carpet gallery below.
