Coachella 2011 just ended and as usual, tons of stars were around – both onstage and off – at the music festival. They all wore their best hippie chic gear, as is evident with the likes of Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Vanessa Hudgens (who, we kid you not, wore printed bell-bottoms). Some ladies did represent vintage, like Dita von Teese who looked like a 1940′s pin-up in a sailor hat, and Katy Perry, who went quasi-flapper!
It’s no secret that we have a massive crush on Ian Somerhalder and we’ve resolutely ignored rumors of him and Nina Dobrev dating because IT ISN’T HAPPENING. So him and Nina at Coachella? Casually almost draped over each other? Hanging out with Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger? Just because those two are a couple, doesn’t mean it’s a double date! (Someone hold us while we cry.) If Nicki Minaj has mood-hair, she was showing her true colors when performing at The Green Auction: A Bid To Save Earth at Christie’s last night in NY. But despite her massive half-green hair, Nicki wasn’t tweeting about the ecology last night. “Dear Barbz, who knew wen I gave anna wintour a s/o in “muny” she’d b calling me 2 perform @ a vogue charity event. Mad Men‘s January Jones hasn’t crossed over into movie stardom yet, but judging from her edgy red carpet look at the Unknown premiere in LA, she’s ready to put in the work. The actress sported a dramatic Alexander McQueen concoction, with an equally dramatic haircut completing a look more couture than you’d expect from someone promoting a Liam Neeson thriller. Also exceptionally stylish was co-star Diane Kruger in a short, white number from D&G. Way to make Liam look underdressed, guys!

It takes a whole lot of lady to rock a Sasquatch pelt as hard as she does, but Diane Kruger’s topless photos for GQ remind us that the woman could skin a rabbit and proceed immediately to the Golden Globes’ red carpet if she wanted to. Looking like a sexy Betty Rubble, Kruger chats with GQ about her upcoming thriller Unknown with Liam Neeson, and how she had to fight Quentin Tarantino for her role in Inglorious Basterds….because he didn’t believe she was actually German. “You know how it is,” Diane explains. “Sometimes filmmakers get hung up on something. I basically had to fly to Germany and show him my passport.” Kruger couldn’t be more obviously German if she was working a beer hall on Oktoberfest in a dirndl; luckily that’s where her passport photos were taken (we’re assuming).
Despite her crazy good looks and adorable boyfriend of four years Joshua Jackson, Kruger doesn’t seem to think her beauty is so impressive. “I think I learned very quickly that it doesn’t really matter what you look like,” Kruger said in an interview with Stylist magazine early this week. “Obviously it’s Hollywood and you get your foot in if you look a certain way, let’s not kid ourselves, but there are a lot of beautiful people in the world.” Sure Diane, and the fact that you can wear Mukluks and a white sheet and still look like a super model is totally unrelated to your film success.

The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills had more stars than a Scientology recruitment meeting last night as Elle Magazine held its 17th annual Women In Hollywood tribute dinner. The gala provided a chance to honor the tinsel-town mega-celebs whose work largely goes unrecognized (not). Among the honorees were Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Hilary Swank, Diane Keaton, Jodie Foster, Sofia Coppola, Kerry Washington and Diane Kruger; only six of whom have won Oscars.
Paltrow was arguably the one showered with the most praise, as friend and Proof costar Jake Gyllenhaal presented her award. “She is not a mere mortal like the rest of us,” he gushed, “She is an internet-savvy, award-winning, lifestyle guru, making all of us look lazy.” For real, this is what he said. We expected Jake to then unveil a three-hundred foot portrait of the actress and order the crowd to convert to Paltrow-ism. But he didn’t. This time.
Action legend Harrison Ford was overwhelmed with the star-power in attendance. “This event came to be back in the days when they said, ‘There were no good parts for women’ and ‘Women aren’t highly regarded,’” he told the Associated Press. “Now women run Hollywood. Absolutely run Hollywood. And I’m glad.”

There are a lot of choice quotes from the interview with Diane Kruger in this month’s issue of Allure, but our favorite by far is the story about the time Kruger almost ran over Sharon Stone with a Segway. And we dug up the photos to prove it. Kruger explains that the incident occurred at a charity auction last year. She says:
“I was at this auction last year for amfAR — a foundation for AIDS research — and Sharon Stone was hosting. Josh [Jackson] and I were supposed to auction off a Segway. And for some reason I decided to get on it, wearing really high heels. I was totally off balance, and … I nearly killed Sharon Stone. I’m not kidding. I ran over the train of her dress, and she stumbled and almost fell off the stage. Josh had to pull me off. I could see the headlines: Diane Kruger kills Sharon Stone.”
The story is hilarious enough without the pictures, but seeing Kruger get pulled off an out of control Segway is priceless. Of course it wouldn’t have been funny if Stone was injured (or killed) but it would prove that she and her loved ones find original ways to injure themselves – remember when her ex-husband Phil Bronstein‘s foot was bitten by a Komodo dragon?

If ever there was an instance of “Stars! They are definitely NOT like us!” this would be it. Karl Lagerfeld threw a garden party this weekend in St. Tropez and all of his beautiful model-type friends came out for it. Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson were there, as were Karolina Kurkova and Vanessa Paradis (known to jealous types as the woman who has her claws in Johnny Depp).
These celebs look stylish, cool and sporty (because what’s a party without lawn bowling?) and proved once again that we just don’t have what it takes rock a fedora hat. These guys definitely do, however.
