BAFTA Awards: Hot Stuff And Hot Messes Across The Pond

The fact that the British Film and Television Awards took place on the same day as the Grammys probably only annoys folks like us, who would really like to be giving both events our full attention. And so it goes that we basically ignored the U.K.’s Oscars, missing adorable speeches from The Artist’s Jean Dujardin and Michel Hazanavicius (whose Best Actor and Best Director wins were two of seven awards for the film), and not catching that cute moment in which Best Actress winner Meryl Streep lost her shoe climbing the stairs to the stage and Colin Firth ran to get it for her and place it on her feet. Until now, of course. On the red carpet, there were a handful of A-listers, a few Mad Men and Downton Abbey faves, and a lot of Brits that haven’t fully crossed over to the states yet. To our slight disappointment, there weren’t too many total fashion fails, but we managed to find a few (Oh, Christina Hendricks, why must you do that to your body?). Mostly, though, we saw some sexy strutting from the likes of Viola Davis, Christina Ricci and Brad Pitt. See for yourself who was hot, and who was just a hot mess, in the gallery below.

Christina Hendricks, Banana Republic And The Mad Men Headline We Want To Read

The Mad Men season premiere must be getting closer (March 25), because today we have two MM-related headlines that we’ve decided to mash-up into the story we’d really like to read. Story 1: Christina Hendricks and her slamming bod are on the cover of the March Cosmo U.K. In the interview, she talks very sweetly about how she met her husband, Geoffrey Arend, and what she thinks of being a sex symbol. “It’s incredibly flattering and surprising, and I didn’t think for a second when I started Mad Men that people would talk about me as being sexy or a pin up. ‘My husband has a good laugh about it, of course.’ ”

Story 2: Fashionista is reporting that after the success of their first Mad Men-inspired line, they’ll be releasing a second one, with 40 pieces of men’s and women’s clothing and accessories designed with the help of the show’s costume designer, Janie Bryant.

Now the story we’d like to read: Buying these items of Banana Republic clothing will instantly make you look like Christina Hendricks or Jon Hamm. I mean, really. It’s not the 1960s anymore, can’t science come up with this product?

The 25 Worst-Dressed Stars Of 2011: Vote For The Best…Of The Worst

2011 brought along with it a host of new fashion trends, from long-sleeved gowns to daytime sequins to the ever-unfortunate mullet dress. The biggest trend of all, however, seems to have been stars looking like a volcanically hot mess. Yes, like a single strand of pearls or a little black dress, celebrities sashaying down the red carpet in cringe-inducing couture never gets old. After all, these are people who all have stylists. Who they pay real money. To make them look good. We know.

Without further ado, check out our Worst-Dressed Stars of 2011 gallery then vote on your favorite misguided celebs. Will it be Paz de la Huerta or Nicki Minaj? Katy Perry or Courtney Stodden? Lady Gaga or Snooki? As long as famous people continue to have little to no taste, we’ll all be winners here.

Stars Re-create Martin Scorsese Movie Scenes For Harpers Bazaar

That’s Chloe Moretz and Keanu Reeves re-creating Taxi Driver for the November issue of Harpers Bazaar, by the way. The magazine pays homage to Martin Scorsese with a photo spread re-enacting some of his most memorable movie scenes. It’s a pretty fantastic idea with stars like Kate Bosworth doing The Age of Innocence and our favorite: Christina Hendricks posing for Gangs of New York.

The shoot accompanies an article with celebrities talking about their Marty moments — collaborations, anecdotes, stories from the set and such! Jodie Foster reminisces about Taxi Driver, saying, “When we were shooting Taxi Driver, I think Marty was really uncomfortable with the fact that I was so young. The memory I have is of him and Robert De Niro trying to tell me how to unzip [De Niro's] pants. And Marty keeps bursting out laughing. He can’t get a word out, and he tries to act serious, you know? He keeps smoothing down his face on both sides, but he just keeps laughing…” This one’s a classic, folks. Especially if you’re a movie buff. Scorcese’s first-ever 3-D family flick, Hugo, is in theaters on November 23.

Small Screen, Big Style: Red Carpet Looks Of The 2011 Emmys

TV fans the world over are tuning in to the Emmys: the small screen’s biggest night! Although always full of famous faces, tonight is an especially star studded affair with some of the brightest movie stars crashing the red carpet at LA’s Nokia Theatre. Zooey Deschanel, Ashton Kutcher, and Oscar-winners Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet…Who let these guys in!? We can forgive em (we guess) considering Ashton and Zooey are staring in the most anticipated shows this fall (The New Girl and a Sheen-less Two and a Half Men), and Gwyneth and Kate are both nominated for the award. But it doesn’t matter if you’re actually a winner, as long as you’re dressed like one! Our favorites so far have got to be Vampire Diaries vamp Nina Dobrev in a redder-than-red-carpet gown, and Aubrey Plaza looking Old Hollywood hot in a white Marilyn-like number. And of course, bombshell Christina Hendricks destroyed the competition like we knew she would in a curve-hugging, high-slitted, low-necked silver dress. Check out the best (and the rest) in the gallery below!

Drive Trailer Reminds Us That Ryan Gosling Is Also A Badass

As much as we squee over the adorable aspects of Ryan Gosling, like bringing his dog George to visit Jimmy Fallon or being our fantasy husband in Blue Valentine (well, right up until the end scene), we also need to be reminded sometimes that he is also a cut-from-marble example of hard-core badassry.

Enter the Drive trailer, which premiered at Comic-Con and costars both Carey Mulligan and Christina Hendricks, both toned down for the occasion. There are so many moments in this movie that serve to hammer home Gosling’s tough-guy persona: the terrifying bald mask! The flipping police cars! The nail about to be literally hammered through that guy’s skull! But then they throw us a bone with a Mulligan/Gosling slow-motion kiss in the elevator. This film truly has something for everyone. Especially creepy mask enthusiasts.

Jon Hamm And Christina Hendricks Win At The Critics’ Choice Television Awards

Well, somebody’s in a good mood! The inaugural Critics’ Choice Television Awards went down yesterday—airing live on Vh1.com, with trophies going to a mix of familiar and not so familiar names. Mad Men walked away with Best Drama, Best Actor (Jon Hamm) and Best Supporting Actress (Christina Hendricks), though Hendricks actually split the award with Margo Martindale of Justified in a surprise tie. Modern Family won Best Comedy, with Tina Fey, Julianna Marguiles, Jim Parsons, Busy Phillips and Neil Patrick Harris nabbing the other acting awards. Of the stars, only Fey and Parsons have won Emmys for their work, so it’ll be interesting to see what influence these victories have on this year’s ceremony. After all, the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards have always been a strong predictor of Oscar odds. Check out the complete list of winners and check out photos from the event in the gallery below.

Christina Hendricks Is So Hot, She’s On Fire! Literally!

Oh, we wish we wouldn’t get corny about this, but it’s so easy! And no one was hurt, so it isn’t in poor taste. Gorgeous Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks‘ coat caught fire at a Tony Awards after party in the swank Empire Suite at The Carlyle hotel. She wandered a little too close to a candle without realizing it and before long, her trench coat started smoking and then caught fire! We’re going to behave ourselves and not use puns that include “flame-haired” or “smoking hot”, for your benefit.

Luckily, Ms Chrissie put out the flames, without getting hurt. The coat was curtains, though. It ended up being tossed away because it was left with a big scorched hole! All jokes aside, we’re really happy she’s okay and wasn’t burned ’cause this could’ve been nasty.

WTF Were They Thinking? The 12 Worst Dressed Stars At The Met Gala

Here they are — our picks for the absolute ugliest, WTF-iest and just way off outfits at tonight’s Costume Institute Gala. The annual event — held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and hosted by Vogue and Anna Wintour — is arguably one of fashion’s biggest nights, and it always amazes us that so many people get it SO.WRONG. Kirsten Dunst! Riri! These are the gals we look to for inspiration, but their outfits, hair and shoes just blahhhh-ed tonight. Christina Hendricks normally wins every time she walks the carpet, but this outfit looks like something she dug out of a dumpster and smeared on her body. Naomi Campbell should throw her rhinestone-covered Blackberry at herself for this abysmal showing (Do we spy a scrunchie?!), Ashley Olsen‘s arms are sleeved in 100% fail and Freida Pinto is going to have to nail it on every red carpet for the rest of the year to make us forgive and forget this hipster douche tie monstrosity.

Check out our top 12 picks below.
