Gossip Girl Stars Get Frisky At Style Book Party

Gossip Girl may not be airing new episodes until March, but the cast continues to make scenes off-screen. Blake Lively, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, Jessica Szohr and Michelle Trachtenberg showed up at Henri Bledel to support the launch of show designer Eric Daman’s new style book, You Know You Want It. There was no shortage of hot blondes and handsome gentlemen at last night’s New York premiere of Sherlock Holmes. While Rachel McAdams looked chic in a rosette-adorned black jumper, leggy Blake Lively stole the spotlight in a lace party dress. Who looked hotter? Recently-bleached McAdams or the resident sex pot of “Gossip Girl”?

Nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as Sherlock, Robert Downey, Jr. looked to be having a grand ol’ time at the premiere, goofing off with co-star Jude Law and squeezing his wife Susan. Blake Lively looked like a wedding cake with cleavage at a screening for The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee last night in NYC. Just the kind of relaxing ensemble you want to wear while watching yourself lie naked with Alan Arkin onscreen. “Well, I think it’s uncomfortable, laying in strategically placed clothes that are taped on your body, in front of some strangers,” said Lively about her intimate scenes with the 75-year-old Oscar winner. “We’re all actors, we’re all professionals and we all understood what was happening. Everybody is uncomfortable with those scenes. You’re never going to be comfortable being half-naked in front of anyone. But, it was fine. It was a short scene.”

Sadly, Arkin wasn’t around to share more camera time last night, though co-stars Robin Wright and Keanu Reeves did attend, as well as well-wishers Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Daniel Day-Lewis, whose wife Rebecca Miller directed the film. Check out their styles in the gallery below.

Though we can’t help but root for Blair in her Gossip Girl catfight with Serena, Blake Lively is sure beating Leighton Meester when it comes to real-life glamour. Immaculately poised in her black, full-length gown at Chanel’s “Fete D’Hiver” benefit last night, her necklace almost seemed to comment on that ridiculous rosette Meester wore earlier this week. For all their public PDAs, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively don’t play up their couplehood on the red carpet. Watching them arrive at the 2009 Angel Ball together last night, we think we caught why the Gossip Girl lovebirds weren’t standing together minutes later: her heels!

“The rest of your dress is black, except the tip of your heels are blue and sparkling. That’s just…I…I don’t get it.” “Oh, Penn, they’re darling!” “I can’t…I can’t be in the same…SHOT as those…I…I’m gonna go inside.” “Oh, Dan…I mean Penn!” We may have made that dialogue up, but Gossip Girl fans know this guy was all indignant and neggy about something.

Another night, another movie premiere for Blake Lively. While the Gossip Girl star played it casual at Monday’s Stepfather premiere, Lively pulled out the plumage for last night’s Where The Wild Things Are premiere in New York. Maybe the subject matter inspired her to wild out a little, but how often does someone wear a bustier top to a kid’s film? Party on, Blake!

Penn Badgley must be one popular guy on the Gossip Girl set, considering how many co-stars came to the premiere of his new film, The Stepfather. In attendance were his TV dad, TV sister, TV half-brother (who finally revealed his true identity to Rufus and Lily last night!), TV ex-lover/stepsister, TV stepbrother, TV best female friend, TV best male friend and Chuck Bass (does Ed Westwick sharpen his cheekbones before going out?). Kelly Rutherford aside (who was probably busy filing papers against her ex-husband or something), the only major absence from the regular cast was Leighton Meester. Hmmm, are we allowed to assume she and Penn hate each other now? Is that fair? Yes, no, maybe?

The gowns that graced the red carpet at last night’s 61st Annual Emmy Awards were somewhat forgettable, but still certainly drool-inducing. Highlights of the night included Mad Men housewife January Jones‘ Versace art deco gown and House doctor Olivia Wilde’s scantily laced frock. The biggest female comedians in the biz Tina Fey and Amy Poehler bored with basic black, while fellow funny lady Sarah Silverman looked frightening in a blue Marie Antoinette-era gown. On a sexier note, curve-lover Kim Kardashian channeled J-Lo in a single-sleeved hip-hugging dress.
