Susan Sarandon In Talks To Play Andy Samberg’s Sexy Mom, This Time On Film

There are worse things for a sixty-something actress than being typecast as Andy Samberg‘s sexy mom. The Hollywood Reporter says that Susan Sarandon in talks to teacher Mary McGarrigle, who hooks up with Adam Sandler in their new movie, I Hate You, Dad. Leighton Meester will play Samberg’s fiancee, who fights with Sandler after the titular dad moves into his son’s apartment all wacky-like, while Vanilla Ice and Ian Ziering both play wacky, fictional versions of themselves. With that much winking self-awareness, how can this not be a hit?

As digital short enthusiasts know, Sarandon has already played Samberg’s mom in the classic clip “Mother Lover,” where she gets her freak on with Justin Timberlake while Andy’s busy satisfying JT’s mom, Patricia Clarkson. It’s not quite clear if Sarandon would be Samberg’s mom or his stepmom, but either way she’d be a major asset to the film. People have been paying to see her seduce younger men since Bull Durham and White Palace! The question, if anything, is why she’d bother with Sandler.

Celebrities Have A Blast While Donald Trump Gets Roasted At White House Correspondent’s Dinner

There’s a reason why Donald Trump looks so glum in this picture, while John Legend and girlfriend Chrissy Teigen look like they’re having a ball. Celebrities flocked to Washington D.C on Saturday for the White House Correspondent’s Association dinner and as usual the glam factor was pretty high. But the best part of the evening was that Trump was trumped by President Barack Obama and later, by Seth Meyers, who made some pointed jokes at The Donald’s expense in response to the “birther” debate.

Obama cracked some big ones like, “I know he’s taken some flack lately, but no one is prouder to put this birth certificate issue to rest than Donald, and that’s because he can get back to the issues that matter, like, did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?” Meyers rubbed it in even further with jibes like, “Donald Trump often appears on Fox, which is ironic, because a fox often appears on Donald Trump’s head.” Ouch. Donald’s massive ego must’ve taken an even more massive beating!

Now you see why Trump looks dyspeptic, right? But even he can’t deny that the dinner was an amazing success. The ladies looked gorgeous in full-length gowns (except Michelle Trachtenberg who needs to take it easy on the goth lipstick). Mila Kunis, Anna Paquin, America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson and a very pregnant Alyssa Milano hit it out of the ball park. Paula Abdul looked pretty fantastic too—surprise surprise. The men repp’d it with the likes of Ian Somerhalder, Chris Colfer and Chace Crawford looking sharp in their suits. This also happens to be the night Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn made their hand-holding public. Page Six reports that Scarlett and Sean were all over each other at dinner with a source revealing, “She plopped down in his lap, and they were kissing.” We may not have pictures of their make-out sesh, but we do have plenty of the rest of the stars in all their finery. Check them out in our gallery below.

Andy Samberg Achieves Pinnacle Of Human Achievement: Shark Week Chief

In a move so genius it’s shocking they hadn’t thought of it before, the Discovery Channel named Andy Samberg Chief Shark Office of Shark Week. Set to air in July, the SNL star will host the annual week-long shark-a-thon, where, according to the channel’s press release, Andy will “film on-air wraps for the weeklong event, host a SHARK WEEK special and may even take the plunge and dive with the apex predators.” This must be what it’s like to climb Mount Everest: amazing to be there, but bittersweet knowing you can never get any higher.

“I’m overjoyed about being appointed CSO. Everyone loves Shark Week. It’s the Bill Cosby of week-long television blocks dedicated to sea animals,” Andy said. Samberg is probably also looking forward to his new film Friends with Benefits with Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake out July 22, as well as his comedy group Lonely Island’s new album Turtleneck and Chain dropping May 1. Let’s be honest though; the title of Shark Chief makes those other artistic ventures look like something your mom would stick on the refrigerator door with magnets. No, this one’s going in the obituary.

Are Men Funny? Will Ferrell, Rob Corddry, Louis C.K. And The Lonely Island Answer

Every couple of months, a conversation about the disparity between the sexes in comedy pops up in some manner. Though we find ourselves a bit burnt out on the topic (because – duh, WOMEN ARE FUNNY), it still merits serious discussion. In February, SXSW Comedy invited just one woman to perform alongside 30 men in their stand up comedy showcase. This week’s New Yorker profile on Anna Faris may champion the actress’ comedic sensibilities, but does so while highlighting the pervasive sexism of Hollywood. The ‘Why aren’t there more women working on The Daily Show?!” debate raged throughout the summer of 2010, inspired in part by the hiring of Olivia Munn. And who can forget Christopher HitchensVanity Fair masterpiece (*snort*), “Why Women Aren’t Funny“?

It’s the debate that just.won’t.die, so we took our mic to the Comedy Awards red carpet last weekend to tackle two new touchy questions about the gender gap in the comedy world:

  • Are men funny?
  • Why aren’t there more men in comedy?

Will Ferrell, Kristen Schaal, Rob Corddry, Louis C.K., The Lonely Island, and other A-List funny people answer in our video above.

3D Television Launch Party Brings Out The Nerd In All Of Us

59875858

Samsung launched their HD 3D LED TVs yesterday in New York and there were plenty of celebrities on-hand to celebrate. The most obvious guest of the night was Avatar director James Cameron, who pioneered his own motion-capture 3D technology for his Oscar-winning film. The Black-Eyed Peas were also there to give a concert, and stars like Andy Samberg and Donald Trump dropped by the event which took place in Times Square. We think the technology is cool and all, but what’s more entertaining is how goofy everyone looks in their 3D glasses. Check out our gallery of celebs who weren’t ashamed to be caught wearing the latest high-def fashion accessory.

Firelight: Frankensteins Are The New Vampires

In what was undoubtedly the best sketch of last night’s SNL, host and musical guest Taylor Swift played the role of Bella in a Twilight parody, “Firelight.” In a knock-off lunch room scene, Swift passes on a hunky Edward-esque Andy Samberg for a sexy green-skinned loner played by Bill Hader. Instead of resisting the temptation of Bella’s blood, “Phillip Frankenstein” struggles with the urge to strangle her. See the trailer above.

We’ve gotta give the country sweetheart credit for her mastery of the Kristen Stewart lip nibble.

Bonus after the jump: see T-Swift blow a kiss to rumored-boyfriend Taylor Lautner during her musical monologue.

Andy Samberg Gears Up To Host MTV Movie Awards

Saturday Night Live’s Andy Samberg is gettin’ psyched to host Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards. “I listen to a lot of ‘Eye of the Tiger,’” he jokes to MTV News, about how he’s preppin’ for the big night. “I’m staying at a hotel, but I don’t care about the neighbors. I’ll just blast it out at 6 a.m.” While his comments are lighthearted, we imagine the star is taking his hosting duties seriously. After all, this is where the actor got his start, serving as a writer for the show in 2005 alongside Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, his partners in comedy crime. He says, “we wrote for Lindsay Lohan one year and Jimmy Fallon the next. Jimmy was actually the one who recommended us to SNL, so it’s a real full circle.”

Awww. But don’t let Samberg’s sentimental side fool you. His stint on the MTV stage is gonna be all about the funny stuff (Dick In a Box, Motherlover, Lazy Sunday – you know the drill) for which he and the Lonley Island gang are known. “It’s going to be action packed,” Samberg says about the Awards. “There’s going to be some surprises — nothing I can divulge, but it will involve celebrities. It’s going to be great. There’s going to be some pre-taped stuff, some digital shorts-style stuff, and a lot of fun collaborations.”

Check out the promo short Andy did with the adorable Rashida Jones above, and tune in to the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday night, at 9PM EST.

Interview: Jason Segel Wants A Man Date With Barack Obama

Jason Segel, who made a name for himself by starring on Judd Apatow‘s cult TV hit Freaks & Geeks, has the same laid-back, California vibe that he exudes in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He also has a razor-sharp wit. Maybe this is why he seems like a natural fit to co-star as Paul Rudd‘s new Best Dude Forever in I Love You, Man — an exploration of male friendship that opens tomorrow (March 20). We spoke with Jason about the real-life nature of his man friends, whether he’s a “girlfriend guy” or a “guy’s guy” and what Hollywood hunk he’d most like to have a man date with. Answer: The First African-American President of the United States is more his type.

Scandalist: I Love You, Man has a hilarious cast, including you, Paul Rudd, Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones, Jon Favreau and Jaime Pressly. Which one of you was the “class clown” while filming the movie?

Jason Segel: I’d have to say Andy. Andy Samberg. He’s hilarious from the moment he arrives on set, which is 6 a.m., to the moment he leaves. But there was this one moment … Forgetting Sarah Marshall had just come out when they began filming I Love You, Man, and I was feeling a little down because Forbidden Kingdom had beat it by $1 million. A woman approached me on the way to set, and said: “I just need to tell you I saw the movie this weekend and I loved it.” When she walked away, Andy turned to me and said, “She thinks you’re Jet Li.”

Imagine Waking Up To This Every Morning

Despite not having a role in I Love You, Man, Jack Black not-so-coyly graced the premiere’s red carpet last night with his wacky facial expressions and noticeably pained wife, Tanya Haden. More toned-down and dapper on the red carpet was the cast, including Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, Rashida Jones, and Andy Samberg. See pictures of them below, as well as Elizabeth Banks donning a doily, Audrina Patridge looking vacant but pretty, and Haden resisting the urge to slap her husband.

Check back tomorrow for our interview with star Jason Segel.

Mark Wahlberg Has A Better Sense Of Humor Than We Thought

Mark Wahlberg plays a great bully. The Departed, I Heart Huckabees, Three Kings, Four Brothers—let him push people around and he’s hilarious. So more people should have realized that Wahlberg wasn’t really mad when he saw Andy Samberg‘s hysterical “Mark Wahlberg Talks To Animals” skit on Saturday Night Live. Waxing nostalgic for Joe Piscopo? Telling Jimmy Kimmel he’s going to break Samberg’s nose? He’s not really steamed, folks. It’s an act.

How do we know? Because instead of breaking Samberg’s nose on SNL saturday, Wahlberg asked Amy Poehler, Josh Brolin (“You were the Goonies movie, right? I produce Entourage!”) and a live donkey to say hi to their mothers for him (sadly, he didn’t ask Sarah Palin). No word on whether Brolin has passed Wahlberg’s sentiments on to stepmother Barbra Streisand.
