Janet Jackson Offers Bobbi Kristina Advice About Whitney Houston’s Passing

Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson were both wildly famous African-American pop stars who died under tragic circumstances. It was only a matter of time before someone made the comparison. That the person comparing them happens to be Janet Jackson is somewhat of a surprise; that her advice for Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina will make you cry is not. “You have to come to terms at some point. You have to actually give it up to God,” Jackson tells Anderson Cooper during an Anderson interview set to air Monday. “It sounds so mean, but you have to move on. You can’t hold onto that because it can be very devastating.” No, mean isn’t the word for it, Janet. “Devastating,” maybe? “Sob-inducing”?

Bobbi Kristina allegedly had a “nervous breakdown” following her mother’s death on Saturday, getting admitted to the hospital twice before returning to the care of father Bobby Brown for recuperation. In her interview, Janet Jackson takes great pains to explain why Whitney Houston‘s death might feel significantly different than MJ’s passing. “I lost my brother, she lost her mother. There’s a difference. I don’t know what that’s like being so young,” Jackson admits, finally concluding, “There’s never a day, not one day has gone by where I don’t think about my brother.” Oh, yup, we were right. Bring on the slow, steady weeping!

We Want More Of Katherine Heigl’s, Anderson Cooper’s Child Modeling Pics!

This may sound suuuuper creepy, we are aware. But after seeing an excerpt of Katherine Heigl and Anderson Cooper reminisce about their days as child models for Macy’s and Sears catalogs in an interview airing on Anderson tonight, we are dying to see more. Especially after Anderson imitated the cool-guy point that boys were always instructed to do. Adorbs. Katherine continued to model, even as her acting career started to take off when she was 15, so we’ve found a few fansites with scans of her magazine spreads in Seventeen and the like. But Anderson seems to have kept his pics under wraps, revealing them only to benefit his own show. Well, Mr. Silver Fox, since we so amused you with our Courtney Stodden interview, would you so kindly return the favor and share more from your … less-silver days?

In the meantime, here’s Katherine being a stylish jock in a 1994 issue of Seventeen:

Anderson Cooper Tries Coffee For The First Time, Poses With Llama

Anderson Cooper has reported from deep inside of war torn Iraq, but now it looks like he’s reporting from deep inside a Starbucks! The silver haired sex symbol of journalism recently began his day time talk show Anderson on CNN, which tends to veer from the hard-hitting style of his night time news self. A recent episode has Anderson sample coffee for the very first time. But don’t expect him to shell out for an expresso maker anytime soon, because it turns out he’s not a fan. “Really? That’s what people drink everyday? I don’t see the point in that,” he admitted after taking a sip. “It just seems so watery!” Clearly Anderson’s researchers didn’t tell him that it’s an acquired taste.

Then to further broaden his palate, the self proclaimed picky eater sampled spinach for the first time as well! This went down even worse than the coffee, as Anderson made a disgusted face and said it was “slithery” and “gross.” After taping wrapped, the news reporter than wheeled across town to appear on The Late Show With David Letterman, where he got to pose for photos with a llama. So at least the day wasn’t a total waste of time for him. It’s not skinny dipping at George Clooney’s like some veteran reporters get to do…But it’s still pretty cool.

Anderson Cooper And Kathy Griffin Get Chummy For His New Show

Anderson Cooper’s new daily one-hour daytime talk show Anderson is premiering September 12. And we’re totally excited to watch it especially because he’s interviewing Daniel Radcliffe and Snooki on the 13th! Anderson’s backstage blog has been giving us the dope on what to expect, including this promo photograph of him holding hands with a bikini-clad Kathy Griffin! What’s this business then? The blog says Kathy is a house guest and the segment is called “Summer’s Best with Kathy Griffin, Snooki & Daniel Radcliffe”. Are you going to tune in to watch? We will. There’s an Oprah sized void in our hearts that we have to fill with something!

What In The World Happened To Anderson Cooper?

What made Anderson Cooper turn into the Swamp Thing? He’s almost unrecognizable in the photograph on the left! It’s hard to imagine, but all that mud is actually through voluntary application… which we can’t imagine anyone doing outside of a spa, but we’re not as adventurous as Anderson Cooper, clearly. He tweeted this mysterious message yesterday that read, “I’m off for a few days. From this photo can you guess where in the world I am? Exact location?”

Our geography must be way off because his next tweet suggested that folks who travel would know where this spot was in a shot. Mud bath in Reykjavik is all we could think of, but the background of that picture doesn’t seem Icelandic! After driving everyone bananas, Andersoon finally tweeted the answer, writing, “great guesses. some got it right! I was at volcan el totumo. Mud volcano near Cartagena, Colombia.” Vacation time for us means something completely different, but yay for him having fun!

Lady Gaga Releases “Born This Way” Single, Will Appear On 60 Minutes

Lady Gaga is having a pretty big week this week. First off, she released the radio version of her single “Born This Way,” at long last. Have a listen at the link and let us know your thoughts. Personally we’re not as in love with it as we hoped we’d be—it’s kind of got a movie makeover montage vibe to it. Second, she’s performing at the Grammy Awards on Sunday and will appear in an interview on 60 Minutes before the awards which will hopefully serve as a nice primer for the grandparents out there who haven’t heard of this Lady Goo-Goo that people talk about.

In the interview, conducted by silver fox Anderson Cooper, Gaga discusses everything from how she likes to be addressed (Gaga in general, Stefani in bed) to her relationship with the public. At one point she says that most people are interested in her because they just want to see her fail. “What is she going to look like when she dies…when she’s overdosed on whatever they think I’m overdosing on? Everybody wants to see the decay of the superstar,” she depressingly tells Cooper. “They want to see me fail. They want to see me fall on stage. They want to see me vomiting out of a night club…Isn’t that the age we live in? That we want to see people who have it all lose it all?” Gaga denies she’s the type to do any of that, and it’s always fascinating to watch her tow the line between oblivious-but-fabulous diva and self-aware, professional artist. The full interview airs Sunday night at 7 p.m. EST on CBS.

Regis Philbin Announces His Retirement

high heelathon race 2 230910

Regis Philbin has announced that he’s retiring this year from Live! With Regis And Kelly. While seated next to his co-host Kelly Ripa, per usual, Regis told audience members today “I’ve got one of those announcements to make today…I don’t want to alarm anybody but I have to tell you this because it’s going to happen…but this will be my last year on this show.” (You can watch the video of his announcement on TMZ.) The 79-year-old joked “There is a time that everything must come to an end for certain people on camera, especially certain old people.” The date of his final show is unknown, but he said it would likely happen in late summer or fall.

We started watching Reeg, a mainstay of morning television since the ’70s, back in middle school when he hosted Live! With Regis And Kathie Lee, so it’s a little sad to see him go (Live! has been airing nationally since 1988). The only person we think is a suitable replacement for Philbin is Anderson Cooper, whose guest hosting duties on Live! are some of the funniest things we’ve ever seen.

We’ll miss Regis, especially for the joy he brings us on clips of The Soup, and we wish him a happy retirement!

Lady Gaga Got Anderson Cooper Drunk On The Job

lady_gaga_anderson_cooper_1

The day before Thanksgiving is traditionally a time to return to your hometown, meet up with your old friends at a local bar, and talk about that time in high school you could have totally made out with this one girl—but you didn’t. So in honor of the day, we bring you a tale of the weirdest pair of drinking buddies in history: Lady Gaga recently got Anderson Cooper drunk on the job at a British pub.

The CNN newscaster was interviewing the pop legend for a segment which will air on 60 Minutes later this week. ”We actually ended up that day in a pub in London drinking Jameson, which I don’t really drink,” Anderson told The Insider. “So, she got me to drink like two of them, and by the end I was ready to have the interview be over because I really sort of couldn’t ask anymore questions.” Really Anderson? Just two? We bet even Andy Rooney can beat that! But there is nothing we wouldn’t give to go out drinking with Anderson Cooper. What kind of stories would come out? The terrors of being embedded in Iraq? The horrors of a post-Katrina New Orleans? The nightmare of having two last names and no first name?

Vince Vaughn Defends Gay Electric Car Joke; Gay Electric Cars Up In Arms

vincevaughngayjoke
Despite getting called out by Anderson Cooper on Ellen AND having Universal remove it from the film’s trailer, still Vince Vaughn defends the gay joke in his new film The Dilemma. Says Vaughn, “Let me add my voice of support to the people outraged by the bullying and persecution of people for their differences, whatever those differences may be. Comedy and joking about our differences breaks tension and brings us together. Drawing dividing lines over what we can and cannot joke about does exactly that; it divides us. Most importantly, where does it stop.” Why, if Vince Vaughn can’t make egregiously unfunny jokes at the expense of homosexuals in his terrible-looking movies, then by god, we might as well just move to CANADA already!

The joke, in case you haven’t heard it by now is that, “Electric cars are gay.” Get it? Because….um, you know, how they…drive around? Look, we understand people have different opinions about gay cars: whether they should be allowed to marry other gay cars, if it’s legal to discriminate against them based on their rainbow-colored paint jobs, whether they should be allowed to adopt go-carts. Further more, The Dilemma is a comedic romp where in which Vaughn finding out Kevin James’ wife cheating is cheating on him. So a joke about electric cars being super gay is necessary, nay, vital to the plot! It’s a pretty sticky situation, but if it makes gay activists feel any better, no one on the planet wants to see this movie. And yeah, we mean BEFORE they heard about the gay joke .[Photo: Getty Images]

robert-pattinson-hope-for-haiti

When news broke that George Clooney‘s Hope for Haiti Now telethon would airing Friday at 8PM EST on VH1, MTV and just about every channel on your television set, scant details were available as to which celebs would be involved in the show. But that didn’t stop us from starting our Official Hope For Haiti Now Telethon Lineup guessing game. We’re happy to report that our initial list is shaping up to be remarkably accurate (Anderson Cooper‘s involvement doesn’t count because he’s a newsman who sometimes acts like a celebrity, not an actual celebrity).

Performing at the Hope for Haiti Now telethon: Bono, Jay-Z, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Sting, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, Shakira and many others who have yet to be announced. There will also be no shortage of A-listers either speaking or manning the phones to take donations, according to E! Online. So if you’ve ever wanted to ring Jennifer Aniston or Jon Hamm late one lonely Friday night, this may be your one and only shot. Also participating are Jake Gyllenhaal, Brad Pitt, Colin Farrell, Zac Efron, Bradley Cooper, Renee Zellweger, Anna Kendrick, Sandra Bullock, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Gabby Sidibe, Chris Pine and Emily Blunt.
