Amy Adams Is Your New Lois Lane

Henry Cavill‘s Superman now has his Lois Lane. Amy Adam‘s has been cast as the Man of Steel’s love interest. Director Zack Snyder — fresh off the release of Sucker Punch — apparently called the actress from Paris to tell her the news. He told The LA Times, “There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.” Is she? We’re not quite convinced, but we do think she’ll make a better Lois than Kate Bosworth, who just didn’t fit the part at all. Amy physically fits the Lois Lane type, though. We’ve always thought Lois should look a little retro, and Amy could totally work that look. Plus she has major acting chops too. This is a casting choice we’re probably going to warm up to soon. But will you?

Snyder wants the new movie and it’s actors to have a contemporary, realistic edge saying, “…What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].” The new film still doesn’t have a title, but it has quite the cast shaping up. Kevin Costner has reportedly signed on as the superhero’s father Jonathan Kent, and Diane Lane has been cast as Superman’s mother, Martha Kent.

10 Best Dressed Stars At The 2011 BAFTA Awards

Let’s give the British Academy of Film And Television Arts awards show its due, people. Yes, we know the Grammy‘s were on yesterday, but the BAFTA’s are a pretty big deal too! And can we just say how pleased we are that Colin Firth won best actor for The King’s Speech! We kinda love him here at the FABLife, so much so that we have a full gallery dedicated to Firth’s open-shirted sexiness (photos).

You can check out the full list of BAFTA winners here, but let’s get down to the really important stuff: who rocked the red carpet? Can we just say right in the beginning that J.K Rowling, taking a page out of the House of Slytherin, and wearing a python-print Lanvin halter-necked gown totally surprised us! Ssss-izzling! Lucky Julianne Moore wore a midnight blue Tom Ford velvet gown with a gorgeous bow detail at the back. Ford was also Julianne’s date for the night! Other best dressed stars included Jessica Alba in a flowing Atelier Versace, and the always lovely Emma Watson in Valentino. Want to know who else made the list? You’ll just have to check out the gallery below. [Photos: WENN]

10 Best Dressed Women At The 2011 SAG Awards

It was SAG time last night. The Screen Actors Guild Awards had some bigger winners, both fashion and otherwise. Natalie Portman belonged to both lists, looking fabulous in a white Azzaro column gown, and winning Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a leading role for Black Swan. Colin Firth won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a leading role for The Kings Speech. Look at a full list of the SAG Awards winners and nominees here.

In terms of fashion, no one surprised as more than Tina Fey who knocked it out of the park in a red lace Oscar de la Renta confection. And though we love Modern Family, young Sarah Hyland has never been on our radar until now. She looked stunning in a tangerine Max Mara Elegante gown. Mila Kunis was reminiscent of Michelle Obama in crimson and black Alexander McQueen beauty. We’d also like to add that Susan Sarandon makes us go green with envy. Seriously… that woman is not turning 65 this year.

Amy Adams Baby’s Day Out

Amy Adams does rock a couture gown (photos), but she looks equally good chilling out in a pair of jeans and sneakers. Cue Amy with family at Coldwater Canyon Park in Beverly Hills. We melted when we saw her adorable daughter Aviana Olea Le Gallo. The little cutie was having a ball with her Mom and Dad (fiance, Darren Le Gallo) crawling about on the grass and grabbing a ride on the swings. Wheee!

The 10 Best Dressed Losers At The Golden Globes

It must be hard to be nominated for a Golden Globe and go home empty-handed, but looking dazzling while losing is always a great consolation prize. Scandalist was absolutely in awe of the gorgeous gowns that floated down the red carpet last night at the Golden Globes. The ladies of Tinseltown did not disappoint – even if they left disappointed.

We’ve selected our Top 10 Best Dressed Losers from last night’s awards show for your viewing pleasure below. Anne Hathaway may have crumbled (so we imagine) after losing Best Actress to double-winner Kate Winslet, but at least she still looked stunning in her Armani Privé gown while weeping in a bathroom stall.
