Eric Northman, Bella Swan, Count Chocula Top Celebs’ 2011 Vampire Picks

Since we listed our 25 favorite vampires of 2011 last week and asked you to vote for your own, the polls have been HOT. Edward and Damon are neck and neck, but Bones is coming up from behind, as book fans seem to have caught onto the race. It’s exciting to watch on our end (Vampire Academy fans from Russia are a force to be reckoned with!), so we decided to leave polls open until 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. In the meantime, let’s look back at who this unusual collection of celebrities would name Vampire of the Year for 2011.

“Anyone from True Blood. They’re all brilliant and fabulous,” Heather Matarazzo told us. And her sentiments were echoed by True Blood werewolf Joe Manganiello: “It would probably be a tie between Stephen Moyer and Alex Skarsgard. I really can’t pick one or the other.”

Alexander Skarsgard’s dad obviously is a big Eric Northman fan as well. “It’s my vampire genes!” Stellan Skarsgard told us.

“Bella Swan!” Elizabeth Reaser said, choosing her on-screen daughter-in-law over her own adoptive “children.”

David Cook went old school, ignoring the “of 2011″ part of the title and choosing Brad Pitt’s Louis de Ponte du Lac from Interview With a Vampire.

Then there were the even less-obvious choices. Questlove nominated Count Chocula. “Hands down, he’s been vampire of the year for me for the last couple of decades.”

Our 25 Favorite Vampires Of 2011

We’re not shy about our vampire obsession around here. And even as angels and werewolves and dystopian battlefields take over the screens and bookshelves, it doesn’t look like sexy bloodsuckers are going anywhere. Sure, they experience a bit of boom and bust, but a look back at the last 100 years in pop culture proves their undying staying power. In 2011, our blood was stirred by a nice crop of undead seducers, from Eric and Bill on True Blood to Damon and Stefan on The Vampire Diaries to the entire morally upstanding Cullen family. There were others who leapt from the pages of books whose racy covers we sometimes had to keep hidden — Bloodlines, the spinoff of YA series Vampire Academy, made its debut; Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series is still going strong, and in City of Fallen Angels, the latest from Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series, vampire Simon went from best friend to hot commodity. There were even a couple of “nonfiction” vamps who made it onto our 2011 list.

Before you check out our 25 faves, watch who such celebrity vampire experts as True Blood’s Joe Manganiello and Twilight’s Elizabeth Reaser, and non-experts like Andrew W.K., Robin Thicke and Questlove would nominate for Vampire of the Year. Because we just declared that a thing.

Battleship Trailer Stars Rihanna, Other People Who Aren’t Rihanna

Who ever made the second and most recent Battleship trailer was smart enough to know why most of the human race will be seeing it*: a fantastic lady by the name of Rihanna. Not that the huge action movie doesn’t look good in it’s own right; it’s also got Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson and some kind of centuries-old hidden alien army lying in wait on the ocean floor**. Most importantly, though, it has Rihanna’s acting debut***. It seems pretty solid! When RiRi yells, “What the hell is that?” you really feel like she wanted to know what the hell that was. As much as we love extraterrestrial fireballs with chainsaw tails ripping apart helicopters and smashing buildings, let us take a moment to pay homage to the best part of this and any movie: the precious seconds Rihanna is on screen.

*Editor’s note: There are some of us who have had this movie’s opening marked in our calendars as “dinner with Taylor Kitsch AND Alexander Skarsgard” since last year.
**And also Eric Northman getting his face warped and Tim Riggins getting all militaried up.

Will Channing Tatum Replace George Clooney In The Man From U.N.C.L.E.?

Steven Soderbergh’s big screen adaptation of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is missing its star now that George Clooney has bowed out due to health concerns. Fresh out of surgery, George isn’t sure he’s up for all the fancy footwork the film will entail, so now a whole host have young hunky actors are being considered for the lead role in the film of the television classic. Perhaps the most serious contender is Channing Tatum, who acted in Soderbergh’s latest film, Magic Mike. Although no formal offer has been made, Steven is very interested and could pull the trigger any day, according to a report in Deadline. Other actors up for consideration include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling, Joel Edgerton and Alexander Skarsgard. Who do you think should star? Let us know in the poll below!

Damon Salvatore Is Here To Introduce Your New Blog Editor

Dear FABlife Devotees and People Who Came Here by Searching for Ian Somerhalder Photos,

I’ve been lurking around these parts for a few days, but I think it’s time we meet for real now. I’m the new senior editor here at TheFABlife, here to help you navigate through the treacherous waters of celebrity breakup rumors, frightening outfits and adorable babies. I was a professional cat-wrangler for MTV News before, so the adorable babies part will be all new to me. I’ll also be indulging in my own personal obsessions (a few of which you may already share): vampires (and the occasional werewolf, witch, fallen angel and zombie, provided they’re from a YA novel), teen dystopias, badass heroines, celebs who tweet too much, puppies and did I mention vampires? Seriously, I have Klout in vampires. But hopefully, along this meaningful journey we call blogging, you’ll also tell me what you want to see/read more of. And if it’s more photos of Ryan Gosling’s and Alexander Skarsgård’s abs, I will oblige. If not, I’ll make the other writers do it (just kidding, new co-workers, love ya!). Happy Birthday, Stephen Moyer! (Today In Vampire News)

Bill Compton is 176 years old. That should make Stephen Moyer feel downright young a spritely as the “True Blood” star turns 42 today.

We feel we owe a bit of an apology to Stephen for sometimes neglecting his seductive vampire powers in favor of some of his other yummy co-stars – or maybe, the “True Blood” makeup artists do, since they’re the ones who insist on giving Bill a haggard look and pallor Alexander Skarsgård’s Eric never has. (OK, yeah, it makes sense for his morally conflicted character, we know.) But we don’t feel too sorry for the guy. He is married to Anna Paquin, after all. And he’s in three theatrical releases this year: this summer’s Priest and The Caller, and the upcoming CIA thriller Double. He’s got two other flicks in the works, too. Also, he’s married to Anna Paquin. We mentioned that already? Sorry. Let’s shut up and admire Stephen’s incredible fangs…

Alexander Skarsgard’s 20 Sexiest Looks

We have a lot of feelings about Alexander Skarsgard (who turns 35 today), the most important of which is that he is the most beautiful specimen to walk the face of the earth. We would pay double for HBO if they could find a way to incorporate his naked butt into every True Blood scene. Or how about just find a way to have him walk around naked on every series on the network? A naked Alex and the Entourage dudes? Palling around in his birthday suit with Larry David? We would watch! Oh, how we would watch.

But ASkars still delivers the sexy goods when fully dressed. Look at him in a suit! Look at him in a rumpled denim shirt! Alexander Skarsgard Pals Around With Tiny Co-Star

What is with the men of Hollywood these days? Are they trying to kill us with their adorable child-handling? If so, it.is.working. First Ryan Gosling held a baby on the set of The Place Beyond The Pines this week, and now we have Alexander Skarsgard palling around with his tiny co-star on the set of What Maisie Knew in NYC. Even cuter — it appears that their goofing off took place between shots, which means the Scandinavian giant is, ya know, the kind of dude who goofs off with kids. HEART IS MELTING!

The Best Photobomb In The World Went Down At The True Blood After Party

We’re not sure how we missed the most magical photo in the world, taken at the season 4 True Blood premiere after party on Tuesday night. Yes, that is Amanda Seyfriend OMG-ing in Alexander Skarsgard‘s face. Yes, that is a stone-faced woman in a black sequin dress staring blankly into the camera. Yes, it is the best thing we’ve ever seen. Yes, we speak in superlatives. But seriously, look at this!

Alexander Skarsgard Signs Up For The Big Screen

Alexander Skarsgard makes us want to throw whatever morality we have out of the window. In our defense, butts like that come along only once in a while, ‘kay? It’s no wonder then that this little nugget of information makes us exceedingly happy. Because more A.Skars equals more drool.

Our boyfriend (leave us alone, Kate Bosworth) is going to be on the big screen (squeal!). Apart from True Blood, Skarsgard has signed up for Battleship. You know, the super action-packed video game? He revealed, “It’s quite different from the board game, obviously. Pete is a great guy — the director, Peter Berg — and I’m just excited to start it, I really am.” Not more excited than we are, trust us. They’re going to start shooting in Hawaii next week. Ah, shirtless Skarsgard, we welcome you. Sadly, you’ll have to wait until May, 2012 for his goodness to grace the big screen.

By the way, this movie seriously packs in the sexy. Because he co-stars with Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker and Taylor Kitsch. Can you feel the hotness? Maybe it’s a good thing it’s releasing in 2012…it gives us time to prepare ourselves for the sizzle!
