As the music world continued to mourn the loss of Whitney Houston, many of the stars on the Grammy red carpet decided that the way to honor the late diva was not to tone down their dazzling gowns, but to let them shine. Taylor Swift, Jessie J., David Guetta and Carrie Underwood were all aglitter. Amber Rose went in an entirely different direction, lighting up the evening in a bright yellow Versace. And then there were a few ladies and gents whose simple black was not the stuff of mourning, but of total sex appeal: We’re looking at you, Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson. Les Miserables Movie Breaks Up With Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift, we don’t mean to reduce every disappointment in your life into more album fodder, but girl. Girl. The first single on your next album could easily be about getting allegedly passed over for the role of Eponine in Les Miserables. Producer Cameron Mackintosh reportedly announced this evening that the role would instead be given to Samantha Barks, a musical-theater veteran who performed Eponine’s big number “On My Own” at the musical’s 25th anniversary concert. And that’s got to feel sort of like a breakup, right? In as much as it feels awful and makes you want to barf? We are not helping, are we?

If it will make Taylor feel any better (and it won’t) Samantha is also a Jonas ex, having dating Nick Jonas while the musical brother co-starred with her in, you guessed it, Les Miz in London. The horrible part about all this is that you just know the anguish at losing this role is the very thing that would have made Taylor capable of imbuing “On My Own” with the perfect level of emotional devastation. That is some bitter, bitter irony. It’s so bitter we just want to … pick up this guitar, maybe write down a few chord progressions … OK, OK, we’re sorry, but you were going to do it eventually anyway!

Taylor Swift And Zac Efron Spotted At Dinner; The Song Basically Writes Itself

Stretch your calves for a moonlight stroll and dry clean your luxurious bear skin rug: Taylor Swift and Zac Efron are allegedly “going apple picking,” if you get our drift (Ew, what? We’re sorry). Us Weekly reports that the “Mine” singer and the New Year’s Eve actor were spotted “deep in conversation and very giggly” at L.A. restaurant Pace on January 6. Though, haha, if we were dating everyone we had deep, giggly conversation with, we would be dating you, dear readers. Unless…wait, are we dating you?

While Efron has been more or less single since his split with Vanessa Hudgens in December 2010, Taylor has allegedly been getting her tiny porcelain heart smashed to bits in 20122 by the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, among others. Personally we can totally see this couple working: Efron and Swift are both gorgeous, they both have great hair, they both…um….probably have many other fine qualities in common. Either way, Zac can pretty much count on mid-tempo ballad with his name on it. No, literally. It’ll be called “Dear Zac.” We’re calling it now.

Taylor Swift Talks To Vogue About Middle School Rival; Rival Talks Back

Taylor Swift discussed more than just her thousands of break-ups in this month’s Vogue; she also name-checked her real-life middle school rival Sarah Jaxheimer. “That seventh-grade girl who looks like she’s 25,” Taylor calls her in the interview, wondering, “How do you do it, Sarah Jaxheimer?…Why is your hair always so shiny?” Unfortunately Jaxheimer didn’t exactly know she was someone’s archrival, which kind of takes the fun out of things. “Maybe she just really liked my hair? I can’t think of any reasons,” Sarah told PopDust after the site hunted her down. “I’m just gunna take it as she remembers me and she liked my hair…I also think Taylor’s hair is beautiful, and she’s blessed to have the curls she has. ” Ugh, actually this girl is too nice. We can see where Taylor’s coming from.

Luckily Sarah gave up some real dirt that might explain her status as Swift’s nemesis. “Well, I think it might have something to do with the fact that I was dating the boy she liked,” Jaxheimer explained. “But at the same time it was junior high and nothing was serious, just crushes. Taylor never yelled at me or anything. I don’t think any of her songs are specifically about me.” Yeah, or maybe you gave Taylor Swift her first material ever! Taylor should really be thanking Sarah; the only songs we could write about middle school would be about JNCOs and puka shell necklaces. How did we think that looked cool?

Taylor Swift Reveals “Crash-And-Burn Heartbreak” In Vogue

Taylor Swift’s musical oeuvre would look a lot different if she just found some nice boy to settle down with. Luckily she hasn’t, and it’s the rest of us who are reaping all the benefits! “There’s just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak,” the “Mine” singer admits in the latest issue of Vogue, “and that will turn out to be what the next album is about. The only way that I can feel better about myself — pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone — is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity.” Awwwww. Here, let these millions of dollars and thousands of screaming fans soothe your troubled soul, Taylor.

Back in 2010, there were plenty of rumors swirling about the male inspiration for Swift’s Speak Now album. While “Dear John” was allegedly about her relationship with John Mayer, “Back to December” was rumored to be about her ex Taylor Lautner. Seeing as how Swift allegedly canoodled with Jake Gyllenhaal, Garrett Hedlund and Chord Overstreet in the past year, which devastatingly handsome man do you think broke Taylor Swift’s heart this time … only to have her turn it into artistic greatness?

Taylor Swift, Amanda Seyfried Offered Les Miz Tragic Waif Roles

Does any young woman scream “forlorn street urchin” louder than one Ms. Taylor Swift? We didn’t think so. To the disappointment of all you Lea Michele and Evan Rachel Wood fans out there, rumor has it that Taylor Swift has been offered the role of Eponine in the upcoming Les Miserables movie. Instead of mourning her unrequited love of John Mayer, she’ll be mourning her unrequited love of the as-yet-uncast Marius. Plus she gets to be in drag! And go to war! Ugh, so deliciously full of despair.

Amanda Seyfried has also allegedly been offered the role of heartbreaking foundling Cosette, making Swift her direct romantic rival. And you know how well Taylor does with a rival! We’re calling it now: they will add a new Taylor Swift song to the soundtrack, which will be nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars in 2013, and we will listen to it and pretend we aren’t crying into our scarf on the subway.

Taylor Swift is an expert at writing melancholy pop; for example, “Dear John” made us want to rise up as a nation against John Mayer. This time, however, Swift has set her song-writing sights on government-sponsored blood sport with “Safe and Sound,” her new song for the Hunger Games soundtrack. “Something I’ve been VERY excited about for a VERY long time is going to be happening VERY soon,” Swift tweeted last night, before posting the jam she recorded with The Civil Wars. Personally we think it captures the exact combination of hope and despair you’d feel as you sprinted through the woods trying to escape almost certain death and you knew a boy liked you. Nicki And Taylor Are Both Banging At Billboard’s Women In Music Event

What is it about blunt-cut bangs that make a woman want to give the paparazzi some serious face? Both Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj rocked a solid fringe at Billboard‘s sixth annual Women in Music event today in New York, and it’s pretty obvious they know how good that hair looks. While Taylor Swift debuted her new look earlier today on Twitter, Nicki Minaj swapped her usual black (or hot pink) for blond and added mermaid waves to her Zooey D bangs. Actually, at this rate Taylor and Nicki will eventually swap hairstyles completely, ushering in a new and totally uncharted era of hotness.
