Shakira really knows how to pull out all the stops. She attended the FIFA Ballon D’Or Gala yesterday along with boyfriend, footballer Gerard Pique. You couldn’t miss her, with that sequined strapless, fishtail red gown. It’s a tad OTT, but Shaki pulls it off. Possibly because her makeup was so discreet, and her new bob was coiffed so well. We’re totally digging the soft waves. You can’t beat the slihouette on her, either. Besides, the man attached to her arm, ain’t too shabby at all. All together, her entire ensemble and styling is so vintage. Do you like Shakira’s retro-vixen look?
Some celebrities have no qualms going all out when they want to shake things up. Shakira just joined their ranks, with this new haircut. And it’s not a timid an-inch-off-the-bottom, either. The singer now has a choppy bob, which we think looks fantastic on her. Shakira tweeted this picture yesterday with a bilingual message that read, “Hace 4 horas estoy estrenando corte de pelo!! 4 hours ago I got my hair cut!” That’s a lot of haircut, if you catch our drift. The 2011 Latin Grammys were held at the Mandalay Bar Resort and Casino in Las Vegas last night. And it seems that sequins and metallics were the order of the night. Zoe Saldana wore an emerald green column by Elie Saab (à la Gwyneth Paltrow at the Bambi awards, but minus the cleavage). Shakira— who was honored as the Person of the Year — looked ethereal in a gold embroidered gown with a jewel-encrusted bodice, while Sofia Vergara wore a silver strapless gown by Reem Acra. Paulina Rubio wore two outfits and both were heavy on the hardware. She wore a metallic silver gown on the green carpet, and put on a violet (with gold highlights) short, skintight romper to perform in.
The only one who didn’t get the memo was Demi Lovato, but she outshone everyone regardless in a plum gown that plunged down to her navel. It nearly popped our eyeballs. Muy caliente! Great news for Shakira fans. The singer has become the first Colombian to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And she looked quite comfortable with her spot, lounging beside it for photographs. She thanked the crowd for their support saying, “This is incredible. I would like to thank all of you.” She also added that her mother once said, “Shaki, one day you’ll have your own star here,” while visiting Hollywood Boulevard when Shakira was just 7. Mama’s always right. Here’s an interesting factoid — Shakira’s is the 2,454th star on the Walk of Fame. But that doesn’t make it any less cool. Felicidades!
What the hell? Safe to say this person is not a “fan”. Shakira was robbed mid-concert while she was performing in Monterrey, Mexico. She was working the crowds and walking amongst the throngs of people when all of sudden, someone ripped a ring off one of her fingers—you can see it very clearly in the video above. A hand comes out of nowhere and snatches the piece of jewelry right off. You can’t even tell if it was a man or a woman (or even a kid for that matter).
Got to hand it to Shakira, though. She looks a bit confused about how quickly it all went down, glances at her hand, and carries on singing. With that many people, it would be impossible to pinpoint who did it, anyway. She doesn’t even pause, which we’re kinda in awe of, because we’d be screaming bloody murder. UPDATE: As it turns out, Shakira’s ring wasn’t stolen, despite all the stories that said it was. The singer’s publicist, Joseph Carozza, has stated, “There is no truth to this report. A fan grabbed her hand and she looked down. Her ring is still visible on her hand as she continued to walk through the crowd.” That’s a relief!
Good luck denying the rumors now, guys. A picture speaks a thousand words, so don’t even try denying it now! It’s not like it’s a crime or anything? Just two ridiculously hot people getting together.
The celebrity relationship curse has struck again, and this time its victims are Shakira and fiance Antonio de la Rua. The news in it itself is sad, but what makes it worse is that they were together for a little more than a decade. Shakira herself got onto her blog to explain the situation, writing, “During our almost 11 years together we have loved each other deeply, taken care of each other and stood by one another…However, since August 2010, we made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship. Throughout this time we have continued to work together hand in hand, have remained close and have kept the details absolutely private until now.”
The privacy is what’s got us thinking (and confused). In 2009, Shakira spoke to Rolling Stoneand told them, “My body feels like it is asking to reproduce, to have a huge belly and carry babies.” That seemed like a positive omen in the relationship, but we guess a lot can change in a year-and-a-half. Luckily, there’s a bit of a silver lining here. Shakira has also written that the split is quite possibly “temporary”, stating, “We view this period of separation as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we continue to be partners in our business and professional lives.” We don’t know whether that’s been added as a panacea to her fans, or whether they really mean they might get back together. All we know is that an open door is always a good thing!

Oh, how we hate to have to ask this. But does anyone else think that Shakira is lookin’ a weeeeee bit too skinny in the video for her new single “Loca?” We immediately cringed during the first hip shaking montage. Shakira’s always been slender and trim, but she seems a little waifish and we’re sad to see that her curves have morphed into right angles.
