We thought Leona Lewis‘ black beret and vintage-looking ensemble was striking when she wore it to the ELLE Style awards this weekend, which is why we thought for a quick minute that Tyra Banks was trying to rip off her look.

Ty-Ty went a little old-school glam as well when she showed up on the red carpet for the CW “It’s A Reality” television event in New York last night, and for a second we thought she opted for a beret, too…until we realized it was just her hair. Elizabeth Hurley reaffirmed her lack of modesty at last night’s Love Ball, wearing a sheer sari that only hid one of her nipples from the countless cameras. The outrageous affair, part of London’s Fashion Week, hit an absurd peak when a fire alarm forced the attendees—including Kate Moss and Leona Lewis—to stand outside for an hour and a half. Though the dry ice machines were blamed for the scare, we can’t help but wonder if someone just wanted to make Liz stand out in the cold. Enjoy the festivities through the gallery below.

Tacking the word “awkward” to any sentence about Kristen Stewart almost feels redundant by now, but the Twilight star looked less than confident in her art deco mini-dress at last night’s Elle Style Awards in London. Maybe she knew (seemingly)  confessed boyfriend Robert Pattinson was bawling and boozing at home, wishing that the fear of a Twi-Hard uprising didn’t keep him from shouting his love from the rooftops and guarding her on the carpet, not unlike how Edward protects Bella in the Pacific Northwest. Hey, it’s a possibility.

Today our great country was kind enough to ship two of our nuttiest celebrities - Lady Gaga and Courtney Love - across the pond to join the bizarre fashion parade led by Lily Allen and Leona Lewis at the Brit Awards. Wearing what we hope is a wig, Allen looked matronly donning a dickey made of fabric that’d be better suited for a sofa. Lewis was out-of-her-league edgy in a slick silver number with an artsy, oversized shoulder. A vacant-eyed Courtney Love roamed the red carpet in what would have been a pretty dress, had she not paired it with part of a dress shirt embroidered with nude women, and crafty floral necklace. Sigh.

Not to be outdone, Gaga honored deceased designer and friend Alexander McQueen in a triple-tiered white gown, complete with a Marie Antoinette-inspired updo. In the last couple days, Gaga reportedly revamped her entire Brit Awards performance to pay tribute to McQueen with more somber, slow versions of her songs.  [Photos: Getty Images]

No good deed goes unpunished. Susan Boyle was returning home last night when she reportedly encountered a young man inside her council house in Blackburn, Scotland.  “The owner was very distressed to find someone had been within her home,” said local police. “And we are keen to speak to anyone who can assist with our investigations.” A 16-year-old was detained in connection with the trespassing, but released without charge. “I’m fine. It’s in the hands of the police now,” she told fans outside her home this morning.

Ironically, Boyle had just flown back from London, where she recorded her vocal for Simon Cowell’s charity single for Haitian relief, a cover of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” (a peculiar choice, considering the song’s subject is teenage depression—is Simon worried Haiti will kill itself?). Among the other stars joining Boyle on the track are Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams, Mika, Leona Lewis, Take That and Rod Stewart—whose presence reportedly made Boyle “shy“  at the recording. D’ya still think he’s sexy, Susan?

Zoe Saldana, attending the premiere of Avatar in Hollywood, did her best to make up for the lack of actual skin we see from her in the big-budget CGI epic. Co-stars Sam Worthington, Michelle Rodriguez, Sigourney Weaver and Giovanni Ribisi also hit the red (or rather, blue) carpet, along with closing credits siren Leona Lewis and countless well-wishers like Audrina Patridge, Bill Paxton and Virginia Madsen. While it’s too soon to tell if direct James Cameron’s post-Titanic gamble will pay off, the film’s good buzz—including nine Critics’ Choice Movie Award nominations—more than suggests it might.

For a second year in a row little Mrs. Russell Brand (AKA Katy Perry)hosted the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards. Mega stars like Beyonce, the Jonas Brothers, and Shakira attended the show but first rocked the red carpet in style.

Pete Wentz strutted down the carpet with one smokey eye (we’re sure there is a good reason for this…right?!) and David Hasselhoff seemed to have just staggered his way into the event (sporting sequins no less).

Peter Kowalcyzk, the man who punched Leona Lewis in the face at a London book signing event Wednesday, once tried out for The X Factor, according to The Sun. Lewis won the singing competition in 2006. “He wants to be a singer,” said Kowalcyzk’s father. “He went along and queued at X Factor. How far he got with it? Nowhere.” Kowalcyzk, who expressed outrage with multiple successful X Factor contestants to his family, is awaiting trial at a mental health clinic.

Lewis has posted a message on website, thanking and apologizing to her fans. “Thank you so much for your support it is truly overwhelming. Yesterday was a horrible shock and left me extremely hurt and upset. I’m very sorry to those I wasn’t able to meet at the signing.” According to a family source, the mental trauma may be greater for Lewis than the physical. “She is petrified it could happen again. They could have a knife or acid next time. She never really had personal security because she never dreamed anything like this would happen. Now she wants a 24-hour security team with plain-clothed guards hidden in the crowd when she goes shopping or out with friends.”

A book signing for Leona Lewis‘ autobiography at a London bookstore ended abruptly after the singer was punched in the face by a male fan without warning this afternoon. “Leona was utterly shocked and appalled as it came out of nowhere,” a source told The Sun. “The man queued up patiently, then as soon as she signed his book he smashed her in the face. He didn’t say anything to her…She was doing a three-hour signing and planned to sign hundreds of books.” Her alleged attacker was arrested at the scene.

“She was running out with her hand over her eye and I just saw a man on the floor,” an eyewitness told the BBC. “Suddenly the security all jumped on him and they were trying to pull him out and he was just laughing, he thought it was funny.” Lewis’ representative confirmed the attack (”the police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought”) and has announced that she will not be performing on the BBC’s The One Show tonight as previously scheduled.

Leona Lewis totally blew us away last week at “VH1 Divas,” and she also revealed a new tattoo she’s had done on her wrist. The down-to-earth Brit got some letters inked in tribute to her long-term boyfriend Lou, much like Victoria Beckham did for David a few years back. But Leona’s not spilling as to what her new words mean, saying, “It’s incredibly private and something that we both had done. It’s Hebrew letters and I’m thrilled with it. I can’t reveal what it is. Some things need to remain private for me.”
