Keri Hilson’s Military Head Gear: Hit Or Miss?

True story: we once spotted the lovely Keri Hilson here at VH1 doing her own make up in our bathroom lobby, which confirmed our adoration for the singer. A lady with bold, adventurous style who isn’t afraid to touch up her own blush is a winner in our book. Not to mention she pens kickass dance tunes! “Pretty Girl Rock” is our ‘gettin’ dressed to go out’ jam.

Keri was in Las Vegas this weekend where she performed at The Gallery nightclub. We love her militaristic mini with the hint of neon peepin’ out at the top, and the mary-janes are an easy pairing with just about any look. But the hat! Oh the hat. We like the nod to the troops and the 1940s throwback, but we think the look would have worked better with some pin-up style victory rolls and dramatic red lips. What do you think about her head-cessory?

2011 BET Awards Green Carpet: Who, What, Wear

Before we can say anything else, how about Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose getting frisky on the green carpet, huh? The 2011 BET Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A last night and the duo looked quite happy wrapped around each other! We’re also loving the Dolce & Gabbana blazer and pants combination Alicia Keys wore to the event and Kerry Washington has our vote with that acidic Michael Kors gown. We also totally expected Nicki Minaj to bring on some full-on cray-cray but it was a half-hearted commitment. We think she actually looked quite pretty in the textured pink dress-tight-boots outfit she was working.

If you want the list of winners, click here, but hint hint: Chris Brown and Busta Rhymes are in there. Also spotted were folks like Nelly, Ne-Yo, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott (love her) and the Smith kids — Jaden and Willow. Of course, Willow’s pal Justin Bieber was there too. Was there any ground breaking fashion? No, but everyone looked really comfortable which is quite a change! Having said that, we would like to forget all about Amber Rose’s shredded catsuit forever. In case you were wondering why Keri Hilson, Ashely Tisdale, Bridget Moynahan and Kaley Cuoco stripped down for these Allure nude celebrity photos, the answer is: to demonstrate the Blur tool in Adobe Photoshop C4. We mean, to show how comfortable they are in their skin! In all seriousness, Hilson’s head looks like it belongs on the alien at the beginning of Katy Perry‘s E.T. video; there is not a person alive who’s chin looks like that when they’re lying down. What’s worse, apparently Kaley Cuoco borrowed Lady Gaga‘s skinny monster torso from the Bad Romance video. Don’t forget to pick up your skeletal ribcage for summer!

We already know these ladies are fine as the day is long; did we really need to have every skin imperfection and stray hair completely erased from their bodies? If we want to see plastic hotties, we’ll buy a Bratz Doll. “I’ve always wanted to be sure my parents approve of what I do,” Tisdale said, explaining why her mother accompanied her to the shoot. Considering Ashley looks like she has the starring role in Mannequin 2: One The Move alongside Meshach Taylor, we’re sure her mom is all kinds of proud.

VH1 Divas Salute The Troops was chock-full of stellar performances, spectacular visuals (hello, synced fireworks!) and lots and lots of sex appeal. Keri Hilson‘s gyrating hips, Katy Perry‘s relentless curves and Grace Potter‘s soon-to-be legendary legs were responsible for bib-necessary droolage. Exclusive Look At VH1 Divas’ Opener With Katy Perry, Keri Hilson And Nicki Minaj

Update: Nicki Minaj will not be in the opening act, but will be performing a duet with Katy Perry and performing “Right Thru Me.”

We were able to snag some raw footage from VH1 Divas Salute the Troops while watching rehearsals last night at a military base in San Diego, and we’re happy to be able to give you this spoiler: The show will open with a hot rendition of the WWII-era megahit “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” The number features Katy Perry, Keri Hilson, Nicki Minaj (although she’s not in this clip), and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland.

This isn’t the first time that the iconic song has been revamped — En Vogue did a short R&B version in 1990 and Christina Aguilera‘s “Candyman” is a tribute to the Andrew Sisters, who first released the song in 1941. But after watching the VH1 Divas performers rehearsing, we’re convinced it’ll be the most mind-warping take on it yet!

We can’t give away too many details, but suffice it to say the opener will take viewers from an ultra close copy (think very sexy retro!) of the original to a beat-heavy version that makes Nicki Minaj’s rap style feel right at home. We can also say we’re 100 percent confident that the troops will eat this act up. These four Divalicious women, who’ll be shakin’ it in white and gold mesh corset dresses that barely reach their thighs, kill the song and look amazing while doing it.
