Well, on the bright side, Girlicious finally got their name in headlines. Natalie Mejia, one of four women to win a spot in the girl-group via the 2007 reality TV show Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious, was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine for sale. A car containing Mejia was pulled over for speeding in Glendale, CA Tuesday night, with police finding more than a dozen bags of cocaine in her purse. We’d make a punny reference to one of their songs, but we can’t remember any.
Despite the public disinterest that met their 2008 debut—and the departure of member Tiffanie Anderson last year—the remaining trio were in the process of recording an album for Universal Records Canada (where apparently their last album went platinum!) at the time of Mejia’s arrest. The singer reportedly told police she was unaware of the drugs, and preliminary investigation suggest they may have been placed by the car’s driver, Peter Asencio, who was also arrested for driving with a suspended license. Neither the group nor Mejia, released on bail, has commented on the charges.
