Karl Lagerfeld Says Adele “Fat” Comment Was Taken Out Of Context

We stand corrected: Karl Lagerfeld does care if we think he’s a mean old man. After the general outcry over his statement that Adele is “a little bit fat” in Monday’s Metro, he spoke to the global newspaper again on Wednesday to apologize clarify. “I’d like to say to Adele that I am your biggest admirer. Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought,” he said. Interestingly, he was serving as “global guest editor” of Metro at the time. We guess he didn’t take that role too literally, and you know, actually look at stories before they went to press.

Adele Shares The Gory Details Of Her Vocal Cord Surgery

Adele has been out of commission since undergoing throat surgery back in November, but she’s back and better than ever and excited to share all the icky medical details. “It felt like someone put a curtain over my throat,” the “Set Fire to the Rain” singer tells Anderson Cooper in her upcoming 60 Minutes interview this Sunday. “It felt like something popped in my throat.” Hoo boy. After doctors discovered a hemorrhaging polyp in Adele’s pipes, we passed out. No, sorry, we mean she had lasers applied to her neck. “I had laser surgery,” Adele explains. “[They] put lasers down your throat, cut off the polyp, and kind of laser your hemorrhage back together and fix it.” Slowly…losing…consciousness… Can’t…handle…the…word…hemorrhage…

Adele is debuting her newly healed pipes at the Grammys Sunday alongside fellow performers Rihanna, Coldplay and Chris Brown but sadly her days of belting out songs for months at a time across six continents might be behind her. “If I decide to go on a 200-date world tour, it would happen again,” she admits. A bummer for all Adele fans, but good news for anyone who never wants to see the word “polyp” ever again. Because, damn.

Karl Lagerfeld Isn’t “That Human” And Other Krazy Metro Kuotes

As offensive as Karl Lagerfeld’s much-booed quote in yesterday’s Metro about Adele being “a little too fat” may be, we also find his off-kilter, blunt philosophies totally entertaining. Maybe even refreshing. Does he care what we think of him? Of course. Every inch of his image and persona are so carefully crafted that we listen even more closely for some momentary slip, something that would give us a peek at the real man underneath the shades and leather gloves. And all we seem to see so far in the interviews surrounding his guest-editor stint at Metro is yet another carefully crafted layer: Sometimes it’s mean, sometimes insightful, sometimes really wrong, often like my late grandmother or the Dowager Countess of Grantham. Here, for your edification, are our 10 favorite (and usually offensive) Karl Kuotes:

  • “I look the part. But I’m not that human, hm?”
  • “I’m not very much interested in [sex]. But it’s not a question of time, people can make quickies, you know.”
  • Lana del Rey is not bad at all. She looks very much like a modern-time singer. In her photos she is beautiful. Is she a construct with all her implants? She’s not alone with implants.”
  • “People in magazines are 50% bimbo and 50% pregnant women.” (more…)

Is Adele Back To Work Already?

With a years worth of cancelled U.S tours, we thought that Adele was going to drop off the radar for a while and recuperate from throat surgery. She also told Billboard that she wasn’t putting a third record out any time soon, revealing, “I’m really looking forward to some time to do nothing. I imagine I’ll be 25 or 26 by the time my next record comes out, as I haven’t even thought about my third record yet. I’m just gonna lay some concrete, set up home and just “be” for a bit. I’ll disappear and come back with a record when it’s good enough. There will be no new music until it’s good enough and until I’m ready.”

So we took her word for it, think we wouldn’t hear from her for some time. Imagine our surprise when we saw Adele tweet a gorgeous photograph of herself in signature make up and beehive hairdo, writing, “Back on the grind. Hair and make up did. Merry Christmas! Axx.” What’s the deal, missy? We’d like to be in the loop. What are you working on?

Adele Surfaces To Tweet With Beyonce

Well, OK, not with Beyonce, but that’s Adele mimicking Queen B. The singer had promised on Sunday that if 10,000 people followed the charity Drop 4 Drop, then she’d take over her own Twitter account. Fans quickly complied, so yesterday she tweeted this message that read, “F— me that was quick!ThankU! I’m in bed, watchin Gladiator, eatin an apple. Heres a pic of me&Queen B last wk in NYC!X.” It’s good to see that Adele hasn’t lost her sense of humor with all the throat trouble she’s been having. Looks like even a years worth of canceled tours and surgery can’t get her down. And she looks pretty cute in that hat, too.

Grammy Nominations Concert Winners: Nicki Minaj’s Shoes, Melle Mel’s Arms, Zombies

While Kanye West, Adele, the Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars are surely celebrating the many nods they received at last night’s Grammy nominations special, the winners of the evening were definitely zombies, who got a big nod from Lady Gaga during her performance. Other groups who will benefit from the evening: podiatrists (because we want Nicki Minaj’s and Taraji P. Henson’s shoes now) and gyms (because between Melle Mel’s arms and Grace Potter‘s legs, we are all feeling a little inadequate this morning). Losers: the color pink, because Katy Perry’s abuse of this monochromatic thing is making us weary of it; jeans — well, just Jason Aldean’s sad, holey, unhemmed pair; and the cows who gave their lives to Reid Perry’s pants. Keith Urban Follows Unfortunate Throat Surgery Trend

Keith Urban is headed for throat surgery later this month, to remove a polyp on his vocal chords. Unfortunately, he’s had to cancel performances including January’s All For The Hall benefit show in Nashville. It’s not a serious procedure, says his spokesperson, explaining, “The surgery, an out-patient procedure, while minor, will require complete voice rest followed by an undetermined period of recuperation.”

Even though he’ll be resting his vocal chords, Urban will go ahead with performances that require him to sing just one song, so there’s no strain.

Urban’s condition comes on the heels of similar injuries suffered by Adele, canceled her performances for the remainder of the year due to a throat hemorrhage, and John Mayer, who also had to cancel shows and postpone his album due to a throat lesion. And earlier this summer, R. Kelly had to have emergency throat surgery due to an abcessed tonsil. We really hope that we haven’t been asking too much of our favorite vocalists!

Adele Shoots Down Throat Cancer Rumors

Don’t #prayforadele just yet. Twitter rumors that Adele is suffering from throat cancer are, as it turns out, highly exaggerated. “We would like to reiterate that Adele is to undergo surgery for a hemorrhaged vocal chord,” the singer’s rep told Us Weekly this morning. “All reports regarding any other condition are 100 percent false.” Wait a minute… are we to believe that Twitter isn’t an infallible source of factual information?!? Does that mean there might not be some things that #kimkmarriagewasshorter than?

It isn’t exactly clear how the internet rumor about the “Rolling in the Deep” performer originated, other than the fact she has frequently be spotted smoking in public. That being said, as she announced last Friday, Adele’s throat surgery will have her out of commission for the rest of the year. If you still feel the inclination, feel free to #prayforadele’snextalbum. We all burned through her last one in a matter of weeks.

Adele Cancels Concerts For The Year Due To Throat Surgery

You know what they say: sometimes it lasts in love, sometimes it hurts instead. We’re talking about getting a throat hemorrhage; what were you thinking about? It seems all of Adele’s concerts have been canceled for the remainder of the year in order for the singer to go in for a much needed medical procedure. “She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected,” Adele’s official site read today. “As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.” Don’t worry though. If you feel the need to cry in the middle of a huge mob of people, just bring your iPod to any sporting event!

Adele had already canceled the U.S. leg of her tour earlier this month due to voice problems, writing at the time, “I was sent to LA to rest and get another opinion. this time i was diagnosed with a hemorrhage. which is like a black eye on the vocal chord, it was incredibly tender and dangerous if i was to continue to sing through it.” Man, if Adele hates this vocal hemorrhage as much as she hates her ex, she has her next album in the bag. To be fair, though, we can’t imagine her hating anything as much as that guy.

Adele Cancels US Tour Because Of Vocal Issues

This is such a huge bummer! If you’re like us and have been bawling every time you hear Someone Like You then it’s going to hit you especially hard, be warned. Adele has cancelled her entire US tour — it was supposed to begin on October 7 in Atlantic City — due to vocal illness. She expressed her sadness on her official site saying, “Guys, im heartbroken and worried to tell you that yet again im experiencing problems with my voice. its ridiculous i know! i cant believe it myself. i follow all the advice im given and stick to regimes, rules and practices to the best of my ability but it seems to simply not be enough.”

It’s a long blog entry which you can read here. She apologises throughout writing, “i have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously i take it and how truly devastated and annoyed i am by this. wanting to do something so bad and not being able to is the most frustrating thing as im sure you know!” It’s sad for sure, but hang in there, Adele! We want you to get better!
