Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol Dominates Red Carpets Across The Globe

When we found out that Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol was heading to Rio (where they’re streaming the red carpet live), we realized that they’ve literally taken the movie across the globe. And by they, we mean actors Tom Cruise, Paula Patton (who is gorgeous, BTW) and Simon Pegg. Don’t worry, we already screamed, “Where’s Jeremy Renner” at the screen a bunch of times. Looks like he was busy doing the television interviews while they hopped on flights. The premieres started in Japan, moved to Seoul, covered Mumbai and Dubai, headed to Moscow, jumped to Madrid, Munich and Paris and made a pitstop in London. Gillian Anderson randomly turned up at the last one, FYI. So as you can see, that’s quite a journey they’ve been on. We figured it would be a good idea to put photographs from all the red carpets in one post so you can get your fill. But hurry up and look at the gallery, because this message will self destruct in five seconds.

Tom Cruise Defies Time, Space At Mission: Impossible Rio Premiere – Watch Live!

Whoa, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is taking world domination to a whole new level. We’ve seen pictures of Tom Cruise and company gracing red carpets in Korea, India, Dubai and Germany since last week, and frankly, we’re getting a little jealous here in the States. Just because it’s serious blahdeeblah awards season here doesn’t mean we don’t need our fix of building-scaling, old-man-impersonating, secret-file-excavating Tom as urgently as the rest of the world!

But while we wait for the movie to make its way to our shores, we can get a much better look at today’s premiere in Rio de Janeiro. With the help of Coke Zero, Paramount is live-streaming the red carpet event today at 4 p.m. ET. We can all watch along as Cruise, co-star Paula Patton, director Brad Bird and some other special guests answer questions about all that building-scaling — and better yet, you can also log in and ask your own questions on the Livestream site. Or you can just sit back and watch it here. Electronic dance music legend Tiesto will be working his musical magic at the event too, so you might want to get your cubicle dance shoes on, pronto. Wait, how do you say “pronto” in Portuguese?

8 Signs Rock Of Ages Is Going To Be Incredibly Cheesy…In A Good Way

Jefferson Starship might have built this city on rock’n'roll but it looks like director Adam Shankman built this Rock of Ages trailer out of pure, delicious cheddar cheese. Set to drop next Wednesday, Tom Cruise‘s official site released the film’s trailer today instead. We had already seen Tom Cruise‘s sweaty rock star Stacee Jaxx. We’d already caught a glimpse of Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand in all their hairsprayed finest, but this trailer seems to strike the exact tone necessary to successfully pull off a rock musical set in the late 1980s. It also contains a monkey. Don’t believe us? Let us identify the exact8 moments that give us hope Rock Of Ages will be carved entirely from a block of sharp cheddar…in a good way.

Cute Overload: Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes And Suri Take Dance Classes Together

When it was announced that Tom Cruise would take on the role of ’80s rock star Stacee Jaxx in the upcoming Rock of Ages, some felt it a little out of left field. “You’re just as surprised as I am,” Tom Cruise told MTV News earlier this week.

Well, it’s surprising if you think of Cruise as this guy. But long before he was an action hero, scaling the tallest building in the world, he was the kid dancing in his underwear in Risky Business, and the cocky pilot serenading Kelly McGillis in a bar in Top Gun. Just a few different job choices and he could have been a modern day Gene Kelly, right? Well, OK, not quite. Even though that one wedding dance-off was impressive.

Tom Cruise Hints At Top Gun Sequel, Which Begs The Question: Why?

Kenny Loggins better take the bus back from the Danger Zone, because if Tom Cruise has anything to say about it, Top Gun 2 will soon require a rocking, badass soundtrack. While promoting Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol, Cruise told MTV News that Top Gun director and producer Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer were already in talks about a second chapter to the Maverick story. “I said to Tony, I want to make another movie with him,” Cruise revealed. “Tony and I and Jerry, we never thought that we would do it again. Then they started to come to us with these ideas of where it is now. I thought, ‘Wow, that would be… what we could do now.’”

We’d still get all the jumpsuits we wanted right? Right?

But does America, nay the world, really need another Top Gun, especially one sans Goose? “If we can find a story that suits what we all want to do,” Tom said, “we all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot Top Gun.” What do you think? Would you slip on your aviators, gas up your minivan and head to the nearest theater for Top Gun 2?

Top 10 Most Tom Cruise Moments In The Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol Trailer

The new Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol trailer was released today and we can’t believe we forgot how crazy Tom Cruise is. Crazy good at being an action star, that is. Whether he’s sprinting down the side of a skyscraper or getting his undershirts terrifically soiled in the name of truth and honor, Cruise is back on the top of his game. We felt inspired to highlight out the top 10 most Tom Cruise moments of the new movie, due out December 21, based on what we’ve seen so far. Because let’s be honest: if anyone could outrun an explosion, jump in the air and not immediately explode into flames, it would definitely be ol’ Tommy boy.

Tom Cruise Is A Solid Dance Battle Competitor

While attending the wedding of Sandy Modic and David Ellison, son of billionaire Larry Ellison, Tom Cruise was challenged to a dance off. Perhaps the challengers had seen Risky Business or Tropic Thunder and knew to expect some sweet moves, but who could have guessed he’d whip out the worm-to-splits one-two punch?! Our vote goes to Cruise for this battle. [TMZ]

Katie Holmes Is A Slutty Pumpkin

Put down the lawsuit, Tom Cruise, we’re not insulting your lovely wife Katie Holmes. We’re just talking about her latest acting role! Katie is celebrating Halloween this year with a guest spot on How I Met Your Mother, where she will play the mysterious “Slutty Pumpkin.” The woman clad in a scandalous jack-o-lantern outfit stole Ted’s heart at a Halloween party years ago, and he’s been trying to track her down ever since. But lucky for him, it looks like this is the year that he gets reunited with his beloved Slutty Pumpkin. It’s a Halloween miracle! “Katie is a lovely and talented actress,” show creator Craig Thomas told NY Magazine, “which is why we’ve saved for her perhaps the most classily named character in our show’s history.” We can’t wait til the episode airs when Halloween gets nearer.

And speaking of scary things, Katie’s daughter Suri Cruise reported to her first day of programming school last week. The five-year-old will be attending the New Village Leadership Academy, a Scientology-based school which uses L. Ron Hubbard’s “study technology” educational model. It’s apparently a free form kind of place, where students work at their own pace to complete tasks and teachers give individual attention to each child. Doesn’t sound bad, right? But god forbid if the kid yawns. Apparently ol’ L. Ron believed that yawning was a sign that a child misunderstood the concept. So load up on expresso, kids! And attending students are also encouraged to sculpt the concepts they’ve learned about in clay. According to L. Ron, children need access to “mass” or else they start to feel “sort of spinny” and “squashed.” If it were us, we’d sculpt ourselves a shiv and get the hell out of there. No, put that lawsuit back DOWN Tom Cruise! We’re just kidding!

Who Will Be Tom Cruise’s Leading Lady In Alien Invasion Flick Horizon?

We can all agree that nothing goes better together than Tom Cruise, up-and-coming actresses and aliens, and this time the trifecta is headed from the Cruise mansion to the big screen with Tom Cruise’s Horizon. Formerly titled Oblivion, the film is apparently having a casting call of nearly every B-list actress in the land to play either Tom’s fiance Julia or Victoria, Cruise’s “post-apocalypse right-hand woman, who watches Jack’s back as he goes on missions in a war-torn Earth to repair drones that keep humanity alive.” Um, isn’t that what they’ve been training Suri for since birth? It was the role she was literally born to play!

Brit Marling, Olivia Wilde, Jessica Chastain, Noomi Rapace and Olga Kurylenko are just some of the names being tossed around for the two female leads. Wilde has already worked with the film’s director Joseph Kosisnki on Tron: Legacy, so they know she has the outfit at home. Personally, we’re rooting for Girl With The Dragon Tatttoo’s Rapace. Did you see how badass she looked in that movie, with her asymmetrical haircut, i.e. what we’re all going to look like after the alien Armageddon? Plus she’s a great actress, and clearly that can’t hurt.
