Will We See Lady Gaga, Other Star Cameos In The Muppets DVD Extras?

After years of rumors and vague responses about Lady Gaga‘s appearance in The Muppets, the cameo sadly wound up on the cutting room floor due to time constraints. Moviehole.net reports that it involved Gaga and her entourage — Ed Helms, John Krasinski and possibly Eric Stonestreet — in a showdown with Miss Piggy. And they may or may not have done a version of Madonna‘s “Vogue.” We fail to see how ANY OTHER plot point could have been more important than this. But we are still crossing our fingers that this makes it to the DVD extras.

Moviehole has a whole list of cameos cut from the original script. Elmo, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Rachael Ray, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Christian Bale, Kathy Griffin, Anne Hathaway, Katy Perry and George Clooney were all on the wish list. Of course, many of those stars happen to be very busy and couldn’t squeeze a Muppet shoot into their schedules (Elmo). But a couple of other big names shot scenes that we’re hoping to see one day: Jason Segel‘s Forgetting Sarah Marshall co-star Mila Kunis and Ben Stiller.

Given the movie’s strong performance at the box office over the holiday weekend (natch, it couldn’t beat Breaking Dawn Part 1, but it was a respectable second place), maybe some of those clever cameos will make it into another Muppets movie?

Josh Groban Gets A Guest Spot On The Office

The producers of The Office are really pulling out all the stops to try and fill the vacuum left by Steve Carell. Guest stars are like CPR for elderly sitcoms, and the end of last season was loaded to the brim with big names, including Will Ferrell, Kathy Bates, Ricky Gervais, Will Arnet, Ray Romano, and more. Plus James Spader has been tapped for a recurring role on the show, but as Dunder Mifflin’s new CEO and not Carrel’s replacement, as previously assumed. And it looks like the parade of guest stars is about to continue with Josh Groban.

The pop-opera crossover heartthrob (and mom favorite) will appear as the brother of Ed Helm‘s character, Andy Bernard. Andy is a passionate a capella singer, so we have our fingers crossed for a hilarious in-office duet! Groban has been flexing his comedy muscles lately, playing a small but memorable role as Emma Stone’s douchey boyfriend in this summer’s Crazy Stupid Love. The flick starred none other than Steve Carell, so who knows..maybe that’s how Josh got the Office job in the first place. We’re excited by all of these famous faces showing up around Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, but we just hope the show go the Love Boat route and drive the guest stars into the ground.

Crazy, Stupid Love Premieres In New York

That’s twice in one week for Emma Stone and the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York. She was just there for the premiere for Friends With Benefits (photos) looking fab in a contrasting Giambattista Valli dress, and she’s knocked it out of the ball park again at the Crazy, Stupid Love event. We love that Tom Ford dress on her and it toally helps that she’s wearing Christian Louboutin pumps and that Ferragamo clutch. She strutted alongside Ryan Gosling who looked spry in a suit that made us even bigger fans of the Baby Goose.

The movie has a pretty stellar cast with Marisa Tomei, Julianne Moore, Steve Carell and Kevin Bacon acting alongside Gosling and Stone. And also Analeigh Tipton who’s turned out to be the luckiest America’s Next Top Model ex-contestant of them all! Also spotted — a super skinny Jonah Hill and the Baldwin brother who isn’t Alec or William! Where was the Bacon during the premiere, though? Oh well, our gallery’s pretty cool regardless of him being in it or not.

Summer Movie Guide: Boob Tube Stars On The Silver Screen

As temperatures rise and blockbusters flood the movie theaters, prepare to swim in celebs who became household names via the boob tube. While some have since established themselves as movie stars, we grew to love them on a weekly basis from our couches.

A brunette version of Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively will play leading lady opposite Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern. Mad Men‘s January Jones will trade her 60s housewife getup for a shimmery push-up bra for her role as Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class. Ever the uptight but lovable nerd, The Office‘s Ed Helms will reprise his role in The Wolfpack in The Hangover: Part II. This summer’s token fluffy comedy Monte Carlo features plenty of TV’s hottest stars such as Glee‘s Cory Monteith, GG‘s Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy, and Wizards of Waverly Place‘s Selena Gomez.

Before the heat and humidity makes us all flee to the movie theaters for relief, check out what TV stars to keep an eye out for in this summer’s biggest flicks.

Steve Carell Says Goodbye To His Office Fans

Alright, we’ll level with ya: we teared up at this wayyyy more than we did as the Royal Vows were exchanged. Steve Carell’s final episode on The Office aired last night, forcing us to say farewell to our favorite boss (to our actual bosses who are reading this, we mean “second favorite boss.”) As a tribute to Dunder Mifflin Regional Manager Michael Scott’s last ride, NBC released a short interview conducted by Carell’s co-star Angela Kinsey on the last day of filming. In it, he shares some of his favorite memories of the last seven seasons, and signs off with an honest, emotional and touching farewell to all of his fans. Safe travels, Michael. We’ll always have syndication.

Jim Carrey Heads To The Office

Steve Carell’s departure from NBC’s The Office may be a week away, but the producers are keeping the halls of Dunder Mifflin well stocked with big-name comedians. Will Ferrell has been seen in the last few episodes as temporary manager DeAngelo Vickers, and now the show is getting another shot of concentrated wacky by welcoming Jim Carrey into the fold. Carrey has officially signed on to appear in the season finale, and there’s even a rumor that it may be a recurring role.

The 50-minute special, set to air on May 19th, will include numerous other celebrities competing for manager of Dunder Mifflin, including Ray Romano, Will Arnet, James Spader, Catherine Tate and series creator Ricky Gervais. It’s still undecided which of them will be taking over for Carell, with even other cast members being left in the dark.

“We don’t know who will replace Steve yet,” Office star John Krasinski told HitFix.com. ”It might not even be a replacement of Steve, it might be more of a shift. Everybody was talking about there being a spin-off of the show years ago and I feel like this is our spin-off.”

Steve Carell Wants To Make A Serious Drama About A Talking Dog

Steve Carell is a pretty underrated actor, and we can’t blame the guy for wanting to take on a dramatic role. But Carell attaching himself to Dogs Of Babel, an upcoming adaptation of Carolyn Parkhurt‘s 2003 novel, is 57 flavors of wrong sauce. The plot: a professor comes home to find his wife dead after falling from their apple tree. Unwilling to accept that her fate was an accident, he tries to teach the only witness—their dog Lorelei—to talk. We won’t say if he pulls it off because, you know, spoilers.

The book was a cult hit, and it’d be nice to see Carell take a more serious role again a la Little Miss Sunshine, but this seems like a heavier load than he should be lifting. If you’re best known for playing self-deluding sadsacks in both TV and movie comedies, you might not want to play one in a drama about mourning. That said, if Carell can get us to watch him attempt to converse with a dog for two hours and n0t have us laughing our ass off, it’ll be even more impressive than if he had played The Joker in The Dark Knight like he wanted to. Good luck, Steve! You’re gonna need it.

Leonardo DiCaprio Named The Highest-Grossing Actor Of 2010

Leonardo Di Caprio

Leonardo DiCaprio has never married, but people sure love to watch the guy get sweaty while hallucinating about his dead wife. The actor tops Forbes’ Top-Grossing Actors of 2010 list after the widowerific Shutter Island and Inception took in a whopping $1.1 billion globally. Leo’s decision to play J. Edgar Hoover in an upcoming biopic may seem a little risky in this context—that guy so wasn’t in the “missing his wife” biz—but considering Leo will take home more than $50 million for Critics’ Choice Best Film nominee (and Award Season Tweet Tracker favorite) Inception alone, it’s not like he can’t afford to take the risk.

It’s worth noting that the grosses of animated movies weren’t included on this list, meaning Steve Carell doesn’t get to throw Despicable Me‘s $500 million in the pot with his decent but relatively paltry Date Night and Dinner For Schmucks grosses. Instead, Alice In Wonderland‘s Mia Wasikowska and Johnny Depp take 2nd and 3rd respectively (Mia’s The Kids Are All Right has made more over its run than Depp’s far more recent The Tourist). Robert Downey Jr. comes in fourth for Iron Man 2 and Due Date, while Daniel Radcliffe comes in fifth for…well, just guess.

FABLife’s DVD Pick Of The Week

Date Night

Steve Carell and Tina Fey are the prom king and queen of primetime funny. Both The Office and 30 Rock are like comic tonic in the TV desert. But do they have what it take to be movie stars? On the basis of Date Night, the answer is “Yes, kinda.” It serves up two great performances in search of an adequate vehicle. Carell and Fey play a couple whose marriage has lost its sizzle. So they organize a “date night” at a swanky Manhattan restaurant. A case of mistaken identity leads them into a mélange of drug dealers, strip clubs and all the things movie studio execs think are exciting. As descents into a nocturnal wonderland go, this is no After Hours or even Adventures in Babysitting, but it’s redeemed by the leads’ smart chemistry. There are also appearances from Kristen Wiig, Mark Ruffalo and the reliable Ray Liotta. Look out for a shirtless Mark Wahlberg, whose nipples almost walk off with the movie.

Extras: A gag reel, dating PSAs featuring the stars, and two featurettes with director Steve Levy (Night at the Museum).

Steve Carell To Leave The Office

60904957

It’s safe to say that Steve Carell has anchored Thursday night television for the past five years as Michael Scott on The Office. He’s this decade’s Jerry Seinfeld or Bill Cosby, the leader of an ensemble cast on a major network show, a show that’s been consistently funny for as long as we’ve been watching. Sadly, Carell confirmed that he will be leaving The Office after this upcoming season.

At the premiere for his latest film, Despicable Me, Carell told E! News that ”I just think it’s time. I want to fulfill my contract. When I first signed on I had a contract for seven seasons, and this coming year is my seventh. I just thought it was time for my character to go.” Carell said that his departure won’t kill the show, we’ll still have Jim and Pam, Dwight and the Nard-dog to keep us company. “It doesn’t certainly mean the end of the show,” he assures viewers. “I think it’s just a dynamic change to the show, which could be a good thing, actually. Add some new life and some new energy…I see it as a positive in general for the show.”

And with that, the World’s Greatest Boss closes his office blinds one last time to make a prank phone call to the local headquarters of Serenity by Jan.
