The Dictator Trailer Has Something For Everyone (To Be Offended By)

Hoo boy! We’ll happily admit that we’ll be first in line to see Sacha Baron Cohen‘s The Dictator on opening night, but seriously…hoo boy. Unlike his previous adventures in hilarity Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and Brüno, both of which featured one oddball character against the world, The Dictator trailer seems to determined to depict pretty much everyone as a total moron, not least of all the leader himself. Cohen’s happy tyrant seems to be a little bit Saddam, a little bit Gaddafi, and a whole lot of upper man thigh. After watching the trailer, here is just a preliminary list of the groups that will likely be offended by Cohen’s latest:

  • Americans!
  • Middle Easterners!
  • Arabic speakers!
  • People intimidated by too much flair!
  • New Yorkers!
  • Fans of nattily trimmed facial hair!
  • AIDS/HIV advocates!
  • Haters who thought Megan Fox had no sense of humor about herself!
  • Megan Fox!
  • The Kardashians!
  • Gun safety advocates!
  • Olympic athletes!
  • Those who thought there was no way Cohen could do anything more outlandish than Brüno‘s Straight Dave’s Ultimate Fighting scene! You know the one!
  • People who hate to laugh!

Although some have moved on while others are still going strong, these stars seem to know how to make it work when it comes to a vertical challenge. Here is a list of 25 celebrity couples, ranked in order of their height differential, that leave us scratching our heads, thinking “How do they do that?”

Enter The Culottes: Sacha Baron Cohen Almost Loses His Lunch For The Dictator

Like Bruno and Borat before him, Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator has already offered up some fabulous looks. Now, in addition to The Dictator‘s official first photo, we get to feast our eyes on the most comfortable pair of light denim culottes we’ve seen this side of 1995. Really, the Crocs are just the icing on the Mom Casual cake. Shooting in New York yesterday, Cohen made a mad dash down the sidewalk meal in hand, a scene that apparently required a shockingly accurate stunt double. Maybe the Dictator is running back to the store to buy more culottes? No, that’s just silly. That store will be there when he’s done eating.

Sacha Baron Cohen Looks Saddam-azing In First Official Photo Of The Dictator

The first photo of Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator was released today, and let’s just say we’re going to go ahead and start slowly assembling our “incredibly hirsute tyrant” costume for Halloween 2012. Due out on next May, The Dictator plot features the Bruno star as, the official press release explains, “a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. It is inspired by the best selling novel, Zabibah and The King, by Saddam Hussein.” Or in our unofficial press release, “Borat 2.0, but with more sashes.”

Joining their fearless leader in the film is Jason Mantzoukas, Ben Kingsley and Anna Faris as Cohen’s love interest. Earlier this week a clean-shaven Sacha was also spotted in New York filming scenes for The Dictator in a patriotic track suit, which is a great alternative outfit to wear in October 2012, depending on how much you’re really willing to shell out at Michael’s to look like a ruthless totalitarian.

Bruno Gets Sacha Baron Cohen Into Trouble

Mike Skiff, an LA based cameraman, is suing Sacha Baron Cohen, best known as Bruno, Borat and Ali G. The charges against new Dad Cohen and his production company are pretty serious, and include assault and battery, violation of civil rights, and inciting a riot. Skiff is asking them to cough up $25,000 for all the alleged misdemeanors.

Apparently Skiff was out shooting a Prop 8 rally in LA, when Cohen’s filming at the same event supposedly led Skiff to become, “injured in his health, strength, and activity, sustaining injury to his body and shock and injury to his nervous system and person, all of which injuries causes and continue to cause Plaintiff great physical, mental, and emotion pain and suffering.”

The confusing legal doc explains the mishap, stating, “In order to create dramatic content for it’s production, Bruno Productions’ intent was to promote violent discord between the assembled yes and no factions. In start contrast with the ‘ultra gay’ Bruno character, members of the crew of Bruno Productions carried ‘Yes On Proposition 8′ signs contrived for the sole purpose of inciting and sparking unrest to enhance the dramatic effect of what they may capture on film…”

Skiff also says that he’s gay and was in the process of trying to document an important moment in the community’s history when the Bruno team totally messed things up, and he believes that, “…Plaintiff sexual orientation was the very purpose of Bruno Productions perpetration of the violence and intimidation against Plaintiff: all for its own commercial benefit. Bruno Productions conduct was, inescapably, an egregious affront to the homosexual community, and a despicable example of discrimination, manifested by violence, intimidation and threats, perpetrated on Plaintiff.”

Ergo, pay up. Not the first time that Baron Cohen has been sued, so he should be used to it by now.

Sacha Baron Cohen And Isla Fisher Secretly Had Another Baby

SPL164909_004

Okay, maybe it wasn’t a super secret, seeing as Isla Fisher was visibly pregnant earlier this year, but she and husband Sacha Baron Cohen welcomed their second child with zero fanfare, to the extent that we only know the baby exists because Fisher is no longer showing a pregnant belly. They haven’t even revealed the child’s name or sex or when s/he was even born. These two are a lesson in how to lead private lives (maybe it helps that Cohen’s job requires disguises?) which is impressive since they still live in L.A. The pair also has an older daughter, Olive.

Certainly quite a change from, say, Mario Lopez, whose childbirth experience was the definition of Too Much (Gory, Awful) Information. Congrats to the family on their new addition and their amazing secret-keeping skills.

Sacha Baron Cohen And Isla Fisher Are Married

Sacha Baron Cohen & Isla Fisher

Better late than never! Six years after Sacha Baron Cohen proposed to actress Isla Fisher—and more than two years after the birth of daughter Olive—the comedy couple were married in a small, private ceremony in Paris. “We did it – we’re married!” Isla e-mailed friends, according to Women’s Daily. “It was the absolute best day of my life and in so many beautiful moments I missed you all so much. I thought of you as everything was happening, but Sacha and I wanted no fuss – just us!”

Cohen—best known to the world as Borat—met the Confessions Of A Shopaholic star in Fisher’s home country of Australia, though the pair now live with their daughter in England. See photos of the newlyweds in the gallery below.

Jim Cameron Not Scared Of Sacha’s Scrapped Avatar Parody

James Cameron & Sacha Baron Cohen

James Cameron may be a touchy guy, but don’t assume he’s a poor sport. The kajillionaire says the Academy shouldn’t have scrapped their planned Avatar parody starring Ben Stiller and Sacha Baron Cohen—at least not on his account. “I don’t know anything about that,” he told E! Online. “I don’t produce the Oscars. If they want to poke fun at Avatar Sunday, that’s OK by me.” According to New York, Cohen was going dress up as a female Na’vi and accuse Cameron of impregnating her. Worried the perfectionist director might bolt out of embarrassment, producers reportedly canceled plans and Cohen decided not to bother attending at all.

Considering how tame this sounds compared to having Bruno’s asscheeks in your face, Cameron seems disappointed he won’t get his ribbing. “The Oscars are a celebration of movies…even the gaffes and out-of-bounds stuff are all part of the fun.” Besides, with Cameron saying he hopes ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow wins Best Director for The Hurt Locker, he’ll be in a fine mood as long as they grab him while Avatar‘s snabbing all the techie trophies…and before Best Picture.

Charlize And Stuart PDA-dorable At Lakers Game

Not since Jay-Z and Beyonce has a couple looked so in love at a sporting event. Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend have always kept their romance private (some speculate they’ve secretly wed) but at last night’s Lakers game, they became frontrunners for Hollywood’s cutest couple. The pair cuddled and laughed courtside, alongside fellow celebs Nicky Hilton, Sacha Baron Cohen, Adam Levine, the Kardashian sisters, David Beckham, Heather Locklear, and Lakers mainstay Jack Nicholson. Bruno Threatened By Terrorists

bruno

Sacha Baron Cohen‘s outlandish alter-ego Bruno has landed the star in some seriously hot water. Militant organization Palestianian al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade have reacted angrily to footage of their alleged member Ayman Abu Aita in the film, and have threatened to “respond in the way we find suitable against this man.”

In the hit movie, Bruno asks Ayman, “I want to be famous … I want the best guys in the business to kidnap me. Al Qaeda is so 2001.” He then refers to their “king Osama looks like a kind of dirty wizard or homeless Santa.”

The terror group now claim Ayman is now a member of their group, and claim the film is part of a “conspiracy” against them. Baron Cohen has now stepped up security around his family and is taking the threat seriously. [Photo: WireImage]
