Considering how often Michelle Rodriguez is spotted wearing black pants and a leather jacket, we were pretty surprised to see her wearing a long, lopsided gown at the premiere of Battle: Los Angeles in Westwood, CA last night. Not that she’s giving up her usual ensemble—she wore it at a Miami screening Monday and changed into her civvies before DJing the premiere’s afterparty last night. Judging from her mugging on the carpet, she was well aware of how rarely she goes from something so grand. Do you think she pulled it off?

The soiree was a predictably star-studded affair, with Jennifer Lopez, Marion Cotillard, Elizabeth Banks, Grace Jones, Michelle Rodriguez, Mischa Barton, Kristen Dunst, Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton, Rachel Bilson and countless others (including Gerard Butler and Russell Crowe, somehow not disrupting the time-space continuum) enjoying performances by Mary J. One such playground was last night’s World Music Awards, where the professional partygoers (Hayden Panettiere, Michelle Rodriguez, Paris Hilton) seemed to outnumber the popular musicians (Akon, ok, but The Scorpions?). In exchange for a Legend for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts trophy, J. Lo pranced took the stage in a series of slinky, curve-enhancing dresses. Despite the attendance of stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Clive Owen, Hugh Grant and Michelle Rodriguez—who had her trademark leather jacket on over her gown, you go Michelle—Abu Dhabi’s Laureus Awards celebrated the accomplishments of our world’s greatest athletes, including Tony Hawk, Monica Seles and Julius Irving. Who knew Kevin Spacey and Kyle MacLachlan had such love for the game? Or, for that matter, the United Arab Emirates?

Considering the weak economy and Janet Jackson‘s slumping record sales, it’s no surprise to see members of her Rhythm Nation wandering the streets of Los Angeles in the tattered remains of their uniforms, regretfully pining for twenty years ago, when it was time to give a damn and work together. What’s surprising is when you look closer and release the new jack vagrant is Lost‘s Michelle Rodriguez.

Though we’ve seen Michelle wearing leather jackets, black hats and black ripped jeans timeless times before, this is the first time we’ve noticed her rocking all three at the same time. Gawk at the gallery and join us in a chant of “Ignorance…No! Bigotry…No! Illiteracy…No!”

Zoe Saldana Goes Without CGI At Avatar Premiere

Zoe Saldana, attending the premiere of Avatar in Hollywood, did her best to make up for the lack of actual skin we see from her in the big-budget CGI epic. Co-stars Sam Worthington, Michelle Rodriguez, Sigourney Weaver and Giovanni Ribisi also hit the red (or rather, blue) carpet, along with closing credits siren Leona Lewis and countless well-wishers like Audrina Patridge, Bill Paxton and Virginia Madsen. While it’s too soon to tell if direct James Cameron’s post-Titanic gamble will pay off, the film’s good buzz—including nine Critics’ Choice Movie Award nominations—more than suggests it might.
