Matthew McConaughey Does His Patriotic Duty In Official Magic Mike Photo

Matthew McConaughey, we salute you. While real firefighters, cops and infantry men might be too busy actually doing their jobs to strip down to their bronzer-stained thongs, Matt and co-stars Alex Pettyfer, Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello prepare to bare it all for our benefit in the first official photo from Steven Soderbergh‘s upcoming Magic Mike. A film where McConaughey gets to combine his hatred of shirts with our love of themed semi-nudity? Let. Freedom. Ring.

If the Lincoln Lawyer star wasn’t already pleased with the service he’s doing for his country (i.e. whatever you call those indents under a guy’s abs), McConaughey is also currently riding a camouflage pontoon boat of love down the surging river of holiday engagements. “Just asked camila to marry me, #MerryChristmas,” Matthew tweeted this weekend, along with a photo of a kiss shared with girlfriend and mother of his two children Camila Alves. Congratulations to Camila and Matthew on their festive news! And congratulations to us, for a 2012 filled with greased-up abs…and liberty!

How Does Ryan Gosling’s Teen Sitcom Compare To Other Embarrassing Celeb Roles?

There’s a lot of potentially humiliating stuff going on in Ryan Gosling‘s Breaker High, the Canadian sitcom that helped launch the Drive actor’s career in 1997, back when he was just a hunky teen. Between Ryan’s faux-Brooklyn accent, the insanely flamboyant hockey coach, and the fact that the show revolved around a high school located on a cruise ship, it’d be understandable if Ryan wanted to toss all copies of this show into the Atlantic and never look back. But really, is it any worse than any other early embarrassing celeb role? From Jack Black to Jennifer Aniston to Renee Zellweger, plenty of A-listers have had to take some Z-list roles when they were starting out. If you had to chose one from our humiliating list (and you do!), which cringe-worthy part do you think is the most regrettable?

Joe Manganiello: Hanging Out With Magic Mike Co-Stars Was “Like Spring Break”

Joe Manganiello has the hunk thing down (tall, dark, so very, very handsome), but he’s also really fun to chat with. We caught up with the True Blood actor right after winning Breakout Performance at the Scream Awards, and he filled us in on Magic Mike, his upcoming project with director Steven Soderbergh. Also known as That Stripper Movie Starring Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer and Channing Tatum. Rawr.

The actor raved about the film — ”It’s gonna blow minds” — and his co-stars. “It was like Spring Break,” he said of their time together. “They are the greatest group of guys.” When I asked if the Pec Posse (you like that?) visited any strip clubs while shooting in Tampa, Joe told us, “I didn’t, but a lot of them did.”

He wouldn’t name names, but we have some guesses. Who are yours? Watch the video below the jump.

Matthew McConaughey To Play Ex-Stripper In Magic Mike

Considering how many times the man has taken his shirt off for a gratuitous torso shoot during his career (does infinity count as a number?), few people should be surprised by Matthew McConaughey’s ex-stripper role in Magic Mike, the world’s first exotic dancing buddy drama (that we know of). McConaughey has signed on to play former strip artist Dallas who now owns the club where Channing Tatum and I Am Number Four‘s Alex Pettyfer work the pole. Meanwhile, we are already so angry that this film going to be ignored by the Academy.

The film is based on Channing Tatum’s stripper past and will be directed by Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh for some unknowable reason. The plot of Magic Mike revolves Tatum as he mentors new dancer Pettyfer, though we’re sure McConaughey could stop in to teach a few lessons: The Fine Art Of Ab Waxing, Oils And Lotions 101 and the Causes And Treatment Of Chronic Thong Burn.

Matthew McConaughey Turns Marlboro Man: Love It Or Hate It?

Howdy, partner! While last night’s Bernie premiere wasn’t the first time Matthew McConaughey has shown off his new ‘stache, his decision to top off his ensemble with a cowboy hat certainly brings out the Marlboro Man vibe—or the John Holmes vibe depending on your cultural reference point. Do you dig the look, or would you rather he bring back the smooth-faced Surfer, Dude aesthetic we’ve seen for years? Check out the gallery below for shots of mustachioed Mateo with wife Camila Alves and co-stars Jack Black and Shirley MacLaine. You have to assume movie is relatively serious if Jack isn’t pulling his Kung Fu Panda craziness on the carpet.

The Top 25 Fictional Stoners In Cinematic History

While the negative effects of smoking marijuana have been portrayed on film for over seventy years, the current age of stoner-friendly cinema can largely be credited to one Judd Apatow. As the unofficial ringleader of the Frat Pack, he wrote, directed and produced a veritable bumper crop of pro-Mary Jane films over the last half-dozen years or so. Films like Knocked Up, Pineapple Express and Superbad worked very hard to smash the stigma that the Reagan administration attached to the cannabis plant, and their tremendous success at the box office unquestionably played a role (albeit, likely, a minor one) in the “Legalize It” movement that is slowly gaining steam in both Red and Blue states.

Although Apatow had nothing to do with this weekend’s release of the latest entrant in the stoner-friendly canon, the medieval fantasy Your Highness (get it?), we here at TheFABLife figured now is as good a time as any to countdown our all-time, Top 25 fictional stoners in cinematic history. From the trailblazing likes of Cheech Marin to the nonsense-spewing Jay of Clerks fame, from the highly paranoid/confessional behavior of Nicole Kidman’s character in Eyes Wide Shut to the perpetually buzzed Wooderson in Dazed and Confused, we hope you enjoy this look at cinema’s most baked characters, maaaaaan!

Pregnant Pink Parties At The Lincoln Lawyer Premiere

Judi Dench, you rascal! That’s one lowwww-cut muumuu for a septuagenarian, damn! Woops, it turns out the gray-haired cleavage flasher at the Lincoln Lawyer premiere in LA last night was the quite pregnant Pink, who might want to consider a different hair color if she’s going go Golden Girls in her wardrobe as well. The stars of Matthew McConaughey‘s (hopeful) dramatic comeback film were there as well—including Ryan Phillippe, whose girlfriend Amanda Seyfried must have been busy hawking her own flick, Red Riding Hood. See photos of all the stars in the gallery below—and where can we get our hands on Mateo’s silver suit? Sharp!

Celebrities Party It Up At The Vanity Fair Oscar Party

How gorgeous did everyone look at the massive Vanity Fair Oscar party at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood! We had already seen the likes of winners Natalie Portman and Colin Firth at the show, but plenty of other celebrities, who we hadn’t necessarily focussed on, came out to play. And one couple who got adorably frisky together were Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, who held hands and were quite cozy through out. Can we also say Selena rocked it in a gorgeous red Dolce & Gabbana gown? Sure it’s grown up, but Ms Gomez pulled it off admirably especially with the Biebs accessorizing her arm! She also was cutesy with pal Taylor Swift who sparkled (as usual) in a strapless gold beaded Zuhair Murad mini dress.

Gwyneth Paltrow also changed out of her Oscar gown into the Michael Kors number she wore to perform onstage, and posed with buddy Cameron Diaz. The latter’s legs went on for miles in a flirty short-short Carolina Herrera. Other couples included Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel who wore sexy Versace, and Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin who looked great in a red Monique Lhuillier dress. Scarlett Johansson To Present With Matthew McConaughey At The Oscars

While these photos of Scarlett Johansson beating the rush before an Art Of Elysium event in LA yesterday are more than worthy of your attention on their own (if you’ve never fantasized about ScarJo flirting with you in an art gallery before—you will now), the actress also spilled the beans about who she’ll be standing with at this weekend’s Oscar ceremony. “I believe I’ll be presenting with Matthew McConaughey,” Scarlett told PopSugar. “So I have a dreamboat on my arm…or perhaps I’ll be his dreamboat this year.” No offense to the Sexiest Man Alive of 2005—who almost made the heist film Brilliance with Johansson in 2008—but we’re going to say Scarlett is the dreamboat this year. Here’s the real question, though: will the Sexiest Man Alive of 2010, ex-husband Ryan Reynolds, make an appearance, too?

Check out the photos of Scarlett making her bids at Siren Studios yesterday if you appreciate…art. Yeah, that’s it. Art.
