10 Best-Dressed Ladies At The National Board of Review Awards Gala

So many stars to choose from, such little time. The National Board of Review Awards Gala took place last night at Cipriani’s New York, and it turned out to be a very fashionable red carpet. We culled the top 10 for you, but it wasn’t easy. We were especially pleased with Chloe Moretz, who wore a lovely cherry-red Miu Miu belted coat dress, and Viola Davis who was equally bright and beautiful in a fuchsia Lauren by Ralph Lauren cowl dress. She paired her outfit with House of Lavande jewels and Jimmy Choo sandals. Stacy Keibler picked a flowing black Marchesa silk crepe gown with a bejeweled neckline, but her best accessory was boyfriend, George Clooney, of course.

Cocktail frocks were all the rage at the event too. Keira Knightley wore a black, lace-panelled Nina Ricci dress, while Emma Stone picked a cream J. Mendel number. Rooney Mara looked very chic in a minimal austere Miu Miu dress with YSL pumps, whereas Jessica Chastain went the opposite direction in a balloon-skirted, chinoiserie embroidered Zac Posen. Felicity Jones picked a very sexy, sheer Dolce & Gabbana corseted outfit and Naomi Watts wore a slinky black dress with gold chainmail detailing. James Franco’s ex, Ahna O’Reilly, rounds up the list in a fun, striped, ’40s-inspired silhouette. Have a look at all our picks in the gallery below.

Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Robsten Top Another List, Because Why Not?

The folks at Forbes certainly know what they’re doing. Usually, we turn to them for the big lists, like the Celebrity 100, the World’s Most Powerful Women or the Hip-Hop Cash Kings. But those take a lot of work, and sometimes, they just need something fast and easy (we’re just assuming here, ’cause you know, we’d never be so gratuitous about our lists). So, they do things like this week’s Hollywood’s Top-Earning On-Screen Couples, which is topped by Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, followed by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

We’re very happy to see the Harry Potter and Twilight stars at the top of the list, natch. But it does feel a bit like the editors sat down and said, “What kind of list can we do that will feature the stars of Harry Potter and Twilight, and maybe also Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers?” They admit themselves that the whole thing is based on numbers from Box Office Mojo (the total earnings from movies with the stars as a couple from the last five years).

Still, here we are, looking at the list. So they’ve hooked us again! We’ll give you the full list below, but also we want to come up with some kind of challenge for the Forbes editors, just to make sure they stay on top of their game. Maybe the next feature should be something like America’s Highest-Grossing Puppet Shows or Top-Earning Subway Mariachi Groups. That‘ll take a little shoe leather.

Dakota Fanning’s Marc Jacobs Spot Joins The Long History Of Controversial Ads

Dakota Fanning’s banned Marc Jacobs ad was deemed too saucy for the good people of Britain early today, though so far the spot is considered safe for American eyes. Despite what you might think about the advert itself, Dakota (and Jacobs) certainly aren’t the first people to come up with a controversial campaign that had people gasping…or cringing…or just rolling their eyes. From the extremely sexual to the merely gross to the extremely sexual and gross, and starring celebs like Pamela Anderson, Keira Knightley and Jessica Alba, controversial ads are as common as, well, controversial ads getting banned. Check out some of the most memorable controversial advertising below!

Is Jessica Chastain The Right Pick To Play Princess Di?

For anyone captivated by the fairytale wedding, public life and tragic death of Princess Diana, a Hollywood biopic seemed like only a matter of time. The matter of who should play the People’s Princess, however, seems like a matter of personal opinion. According to IndieWire, The Help‘s Jessica Chastain will be portraying the late Princess of Wales in the upcoming movie Caught in Flight. The film reportedly focuses on Diana’s alleged affair with Dr. Harsnat Khan, which director Oliver Hirschbiegel describes as “a love story between a princess locked in a tower and an ordinary man.” While the Tree of Life star is the latest casting pick, Keira Knightley was also up for the part. Hmmm, two talented ladies, one role that has “Oscar bait” written all over it. The movie doesn’t start filming until March 2012, which means we have plenty of time to ask ourselves the question…

Does Keira Knightley Pull Off This Difficult Dress?

Keira Knightely wore this very Jekyll-and-Hyde dress to the premiere for A Dangerous Method in London yesterday. The black and creme dress shares the same principle as the one Olivia Wilde wore to the the 2011 Glamour Reel Moments event — contrast. Perhaps the actress chose the Roksanda Ilincic gown to honor the film’s psychological theme? Dual personalities? That may be a far stretch, but we have to say that Keira totally pulled this off. It’s something not many people could wear, especially with that difficult ankle length. You’d also have to possess the teeniest bottom to even attempt to put this on. Oh wait, Keira’s British — we should be saying “arse.”

Keira Knightley Talks A Dangerous Method Spanking Scenes, Taking Shots

When the shoot date for Keira Knightley’s spanking scenes in her upcoming film A Dangerous Method arrived, the Atonement star did what any reasonable person would have done: she started pounding back shots. While talking with The Hollywood Reporter at the Toronto International Film Festival, Knightley admits, “[I did] a couple of shots of vodka — definitely — beforehand, and then a couple of glasses of champagne as a celebration of never having to do that again!” Well, at least until she films the sequel A Dangerous Method 2: Freudian Boogaloo.

Keira originally planned to turned down the role of patient Sabine Spielrein after reading the script, leery of the scenes turning up on YouTube (which they definitely will). After talking with director David Cronenberg, however, Keira eventually came around. “There was a box which he hit, so he was nowhere near me, thank God!,” Keira laughs, explaining how she shot the scenes with costar Michael Fassbender. “I did actually say to Michael before one of the scenes — I was like, ‘I’ve got a security guard outside. You touch me and he’s gonna break your legs!’ And he was like, ‘Keira, you’re tied to a bed. You’re not really in a position to say that.’ I said, ‘I guess you’re right.’” Oh wow, we’re going to need some shots after reading that. Good thing we always have some poured and ready next to our laptops!

Keira Knightley In Nude And Gold At The Venice Film Festival

Much like Sarah Jessica Parker‘s technicolor dream dress from earlier this week, Keira Knightley’s red carpet fashion at the premiere of A Dangerous Method at the Venice Film Festival today has us at a loss for snap judgments. The gold tulle triggers the fabulousness center of our brains, but the long sleeves and high neck read Little Women. We imagine this is what Gaga would wear if she was some how electromagnetically sucked back through a worm hole and had to live as a pioneer bride. What do you think of Keira’s look? Are we talking the hotness or a hot mess?

Keira Knightley, Michael Fassbender Get Freudian In A Dangerous Method

If you thought your Intro To Psych was profoundly boring, clearly your instructor didn’t focus nearly enough on the soaking wet nightgowns, spankings and general sexual intrigue of the field. It turns out, the beginnings of psychotherapy weren’t all about smoking jackets and faulty scientific method; they were basically an erotic thriller written by David Cronenberg, as we can clearly see demonstrated by Keira Knightley and X-Men: First Class star Michael Fassbender in the upcoming A Dangerous Method. Fassbender stars as a super hot Dr. Carl Jung, student of Viggo Mortensen‘s historically inaccurate megababe Sigmund Freud, as the good doctor attempts to cure sexy mental patient Sabina Spielrein, played by Knightley, thus giving birth to modern, smoking hot psychoanalysis. The unsound, potentially harmful treatment of psychological illness has never looked so steamy!

Keira Knightley Wears Off-The-Runway Valentino For The Daily Show

Keira Knightley‘s sartorial choices have been a little off for us lately. For such a gorgeous woman, she tends to look a little frumpy. Not anymore, though. She’s redeemed herself completely with this lovely frock worn yesterday in New York for an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Keira was in the city to promote her latest film, Last Night, which also stars Sam Worthington, Guillaume Canet and Eva Mendes.

The Valentino embellished sheer dress with rosettes (and no we didn’t feel like we were on Ambien, Cathy Horyn) is cool, textured and vintage all at once, and that light grey color really looks beautiful on her. And lucky Keira, for getting couture before it’s available to the rest of us mere mortals! Let’s hope this starts a winning streak for her.

Keira Knightley’s Sexy New Short Film For Chanel

We’ve fallen head over heels in love with Keira Knightley‘s new short film for Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle perfume. It’s been directed by Keira’s director of our favorite Pride and Prejudice, Joe Wright. We’re also very grateful because this film has introduced us to a certain actor-Greek God hybrid called Alberto Ammann. Joss Stone‘s totally surprised us as well. She’s not in the film, but she sang the ‘soundtrack’—a cover of James Brown’s It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World—and she nailed it. Watch Keira zipping around Paris, giving us breathtaking shots of sights like Place Vendome and the Place de la Concorde. She’s wearing a beige motorcycle jumpsuit designed by Karl Lagerfeld, which she takes off later to seduce Alberto. Hot! Hot! Hot!
