Octavia Spencer Complains About Her Louboutins And 10 Other Great Golden Globes Press Room Moments

There’s a party going on right here at the Beverly Hilton. The Golden Globes truly are a celebration to last through out the year. (Check out our favorite moments from the show!) Dare we say that it might even be the most fun night in Hollywood… EVER. Everyone — press, crew, celebs — is in good spirits, the booze is plentiful, and the emphasis is on having a good time. And everything is so pretty! The Beverly Hilton is a beautiful and iconic spot any day of the week, but there’s something extra magical about tonight’s event. The red carpet actually felt like a living, breathing thing and it. Is. FIERCE.

But the best part of the night was, of course, hearing from the winners, in all their sweet, excited glory. We were stationed in the press room and had the privilege of listening to all their best moments — from the absolutely ridiculous to the downright cry-worthy. We count ‘em down for you below.

  • Octavia Spencer kicking her shoes off in the middle of answering questions, and then delivering this important message: “Christian Louboutin, I love you, but when you have this much weigh you gotta give us a little platform.”
  • George Clooney answering the “Where is Ryan Gosling?” question: “He’s [working] in Thailand. And you know what they do in Thailand.
  • Matt LeBlanc having a “Joey” moment onstage, answering a reporter’s question with “How you doin’?”

2012 Golden Globe Nominees’ Least Award-Worthy Moments: Mickey Mouse Club To She-Devil

As soon as the 69th annual Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning, industry folks like Variety began noting how many movie stars (as opposed to fancy ahctorrrs, we guess) are nominated: George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling aren’t exactly slouches in the acting department, but they don’t turn their noses down at a good romantic comedy heist film either. On the other hand, the more we think about it, the more we think maybe they should have turned down a few gigs. Well, no regrets, Meryl and Glenn and Leo. You turned out OK. Just forgive us for laughing with you at some of the skeletons in your closet/IMDb page!

TheFABlife’s 15 Best Dressed At The 2011 Emmy Awards

The red carpet at tonight’s Emmy Awards contained very few duds and a whole lot of “dayum!” Underdog and relative red carpet rookie Aubrey Plaza took our crown for Best Dressed in her Juan Carlos Obando white gown and retro fabulous hair. The Vampire DiariesNina Dobrev was a close runner-up in a dramatic, hourglass supreme Donna Karan. Best Actress in a Comedy Series winner Julie Bowen dazzled in an uber deep v-neck Oscar De La Renta and we loved Amy Poehler‘s unique Peter Som navy frock.
Star of tomorrow and Best Dressed honorable mention Kiernan Shipka confirmed she will essentially be a teenager by the time Mad Men returns in an adorable metallic dress and glittery heels. Check out our 15 Best Dressed at the 2011 Emmys below! [Photos: Getty Images]

Small Screen, Big Style: Red Carpet Looks Of The 2011 Emmys

TV fans the world over are tuning in to the Emmys: the small screen’s biggest night! Although always full of famous faces, tonight is an especially star studded affair with some of the brightest movie stars crashing the red carpet at LA’s Nokia Theatre. Zooey Deschanel, Ashton Kutcher, and Oscar-winners Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet…Who let these guys in!? We can forgive em (we guess) considering Ashton and Zooey are staring in the most anticipated shows this fall (The New Girl and a Sheen-less Two and a Half Men), and Gwyneth and Kate are both nominated for the award. But it doesn’t matter if you’re actually a winner, as long as you’re dressed like one! Our favorites so far have got to be Vampire Diaries vamp Nina Dobrev in a redder-than-red-carpet gown, and Aubrey Plaza looking Old Hollywood hot in a white Marilyn-like number. And of course, bombshell Christina Hendricks destroyed the competition like we knew she would in a curve-hugging, high-slitted, low-necked silver dress. Check out the best (and the rest) in the gallery below!

Kate Winslet Has A Graphic Complaint About Sex Scenes

Let’s be clear: Kate Winslet hates sex scenes, despite the fact that she is very, very good at them (The hand on the window in Titantic? Flawless).”I hate it! Listen make no mistake, I just get on it,” the God of Carnage star told V Magazine. “I just go in and say ‘Oh f–k’ let’s do it.’ and boom. If you complain about it or procrastinate it’s not going to go away. Its a profoundly bizarre thing to do.” Is Kate sure she means bizarre? Wouldn’t a better word for it be…awesome?

Considering the little Kate Winslet vomiting anecdote she told at the Venice Film Festival this week, we shouldn’t be surprised at how up front she is about her feelings. Her use of the phrase “left nut sack,” however? Still surprising. “As actors you talk about it all the time,” Winslet explained. “You can literally be tangled in sheets, and you turn to the other actor and say ‘What the f–k are we doing?’ ‘Dear Mum, at work today I had so-and-so’s left nut sack pressed against my cheek.’ It’s sort of unethical if you think about it in those terms.” Wow, we are definitely going to have to see The God of Carnage. And really hope we don’t somehow sit next to Kate Winslet’s mom.

Who Wore It Better: Kate Winslet Or La La Vasquez?

This is not an optical illusion: Kate Winslet and La La Vasquez rocked the same Stella McCartney panel dress this week. You know what is an optional illusion, however? The top of that dress. While at the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of her upcoming film Mildred Pierce, Winslet paired hers with an undo and peep-toe pumps, while La La let her hair down and piled on silver bangles while visiting Live! with Regis and Kelly alongside husband Carmelo Anthony.

Both ladies look epically put-together, though the dress’s unusual color-blocking sort of makes us want to stare at their outfits until we can see both the old lady and the young woman. Or maybe it’s a vase, or two people kissing? And, more importantly, who wore it better? Note: feel free to factor in La La’s umbrella butler, as he is also bringing his sartorial A-game.

Kate Winslet’s Kids Love It When She Projectile Vomits

Roman Polanski’s new film Carnage hasn’t hit theaters yet, but star Kate Winslet’s kids already have their favorite moment picked out. It’s the scene when their Oscar-winning mother projectile vomits cobbler all over antique art books. What’s not to love!? And luckily enough, they were even on set to witness the glorious moment in person! “My kids came to work for the vomit day,” she told a press conference yesterday at the Venice Film Festival, where the film had its world premiere. “And I am so thrilled that they were there because they literally have not stopped talking about it since. It was hysterical.”

The film is based on the satirical play by Yasmina Reza, The God of Carnage, and packs an all-star cast of Winslet, Christoph Waltz, Jodie Foster and John C. Reilly. But most importantly, it features Winslet projectile vomiting with enough ferocity to put that scene in The Exorcist to shame. Thank god she didn’t perform method-style, but instead used a device strapped to her body. At least she does her own stunts. And she had an A-list cleanup crew. “While Kate was the one who threw up, Jodie and I had to clean up the vomit,” says costar Reilly. “So we had the more disgusting involvement with the vomit.”

Kate Winslet Rescues Richard Branson’s Mother From Fire!

Geez, do we love this woman or what? Sir Richard Branson‘s amazing Caribbean villa on his private island (worth 60 million pounds) caught fire yesterday, after being struck by lightening. It’s been completely razed to the ground, but what was even more terrifying was that at least 20 people were in the house when it went up in flames. Amongst his guests was Kate Winslet, who carried Branson’s mum out to safety!

The tycoon’s mother, Eve, is 90 years old and according to Branson, “It was she [Winlset] who carried my mother out of the house. She said it was like being on a film set where you’re waiting for the words “cut” but they just don’t come. So it was quite surreal for her to be in a real-life situation.” Of her bravery, he added, “She carried my Mum out of the house. My Mum is 90 and can walk but it was more just to speed the process up than anything else but anyway, she was great. She swept her up into her arms and got them out of the house as fast as possible.” Amazing, right?

Fortunately, everyone got out okay, including Winslet’s two children and Branson’s daughter Holly. The fire started raging around 4 am, and Branson’s son, Sam (who was staying in another villa with his father and mother, Joan), ran into the flames to help everyone get out. Branson explained, “We had a really bad tropical storm with winds up to 90mph. A big lightning storm came around 4am and hit the house. It took hold incredibly quickly, with flames 100ft high. It ripped through the house very quickly. Sam heard explosions in the main house and raised the alarm. He and my nephew Jack rushed to the house and helped get everyone out.” We’re so glad that everyone got out safely and is uninjured.

Kate Winslet, Other Gorgeous Women Form Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League

Whenever A-list actresses rail against plastic surgery, our first instinct is to immediately point out that they are already the most genetically-gifted human beings on the planet, with skin that looks like it could actually be made out of flower petals. That being said, we’re all about Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz and Emma Thompson forming the “British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League.” Winslet told British paper The Telegraph the ladies made an anti-scalpel pact, vowing “I will never give in. It [cosmetic surgery] goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up and what I consider to be natural beauty … I am an actress, I don’t want to freeze the expressions of my face.” At least Winslet is in good company, seeing as how the League could also be called, “The 99% of the world’s population that couldn’t afford a face-life if they wanted one.”

Men In Black III actress Thompson agreed with the Contagion star’s passion, adding, “I’m not fiddling about with myself. We’re in this awful youth-driven thing now where everybody needs to look 30 at 60.” That’s not even counting the handful of 30-year-olds that are starting to look like 3,000-year-old space goblins.
