He’s giving Piper Perabo a run for her money in the comedy department and dare we say it, he won. That isn’t just any three-piece that he’s wearing, either. Gerard Butler Cheats Death After Surfing Scare

Action hero Gerard Butler was nearly taken down for out for good this weekend when things went awry while surfing. The actor was filming a scene for his upcoming Of Men and Mavericks in California’s Half Moon Bay when a dangerous surf break knocked him off his board and pinned him underwater. The Beach Boys never warned us about this! Gerard was dragged across the rocky sea floor before a jet-ski riding patrol-man was able to rescue him.

It could have been a scary case of art imitating life, as Of Men and Mavericks chronicles the story of sufer Jay Moriarty, who died at sea in 2001. But luckily Gerard escaped the same fate, and was released from the hospital with no serious injuries. Gerard’s surf coach Zach Wormhoudt says that the waves were a lot to handle, and not just for the rookie! ”It was intense for myself, and I’ve been through a lot out there,” he admitted to the Associated Press. Don’t back down from that wave, Gerard!

OMG! Did Ashley Greene And Gerard Butler Hook Up?

This totally makes sense. She’s Hollywood’s biggest female flirt, and he’s Hollywood’s biggest male player. Together, it’s a match made in hook-up heaven! Ashley Greene and Gerard Butler have finally made their way into each other’s arms, even if it was only for a night. Who are we kidding? It’s Ashley and Gerard — one night is all anyone was going to get! We don’t know how the news of them getting together has stayed under wraps for the last 10 days, but it’s only surfaced just now, and we’re loving it!

The story is that Gashley (sorry, Jasper) connected at the Boom Boom Room at a CFDA Fashion Awards after party and a source says, “He had a hand on her shoulder and leaned in to her. He really turned on the charm.” Gerard apparently ordered a drink for her and kept cracking her up with his rendition of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin‘. ‘Cause clearly, that’s a way to a girl’s heart. It worked because eyewitnesses report he had his hand on her very covetable butt. And the rest if history. We’re quite in awe of their celeboning track records separately (together it’s insurmountable). Gerard has reportedly hooked up with everyone from Rosario Dawson to Lindsay Lohan and most recently, Jessica Biel. Ashley has folks like Joe Jonas, Ian Somerhalder and Jared Followill notched up. This was probably destined to happen!

The Full 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards Red Carpet Report

The 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards took place last night at Lincoln Center in New York City. The show saw some serious fashionista traffic, but we have to admit we expected it to be a tad more A-List. Still, can’t complain with the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio in a red-hot Prabal Gurung dress and Liv Tyler in an unusual Proenza Schouler silk printed sheath. Both ladies showed a fair amount of back! We also loved Kerry Washington‘s simple white A-Line Calvin Klein dress and Lucy Liu‘s dramatic black Monique Lhuillier gown. Miranda Kerr looked heart-stoppingly sexy in her black Michael Kors skirt and cut-out body suit. But the big winner of the night was Lady Gaga who scooped up the Fashion Icon Award, bringing her sister Natali Germanotta as her date.

Unfortunately, there were a couple of fashion fails as well. Chloe Sevigny looked like she had forgotten to do up the top of her leather ruffle eyelet blouse from her own collection. Marcia Cross wore an inexplicable Pamella Roland blue sequined halter jumpsuit and Naomi Watts looked generically pretty but very blah in her Calvin Klein gold dress. We also love us some Ashley Greene but she just wasn’t working her two-tone Michael Kors dress, like a pregnant Jessica Alba worked the same trend in DVF. Perhaps it’s because Ashley’s clunky shoes were all wrong. One look at Gerard Butler in his snug, extremely well-cut suit, and all was well again. Is Jessica Biel Rebounding With Gerard Butler?

Considering how often Gerard Butler pawed Jennifer Aniston while they were promoting The Bounty Hunter, it’s no surprise to hear his Playing The Field co-star Jennifer Biel may be receiving similar attention now that long-time boyfriend Justin Timberlake has broken up with her. Biel and Butler were photographed zooming around on his motorcycle on the Pacific Coast Highway this weekend, and source are telling People that the pair were awfully friendly on set in Louisana…maybe even friendly with benefits!

“He knows he looks good,” said their source, who claims the pair sat together at a cast & crew dinner before filming (scandalous!). “If I were her, I’d hook up with him. She looks good, too, and she knew she looked good, swinging her hips around. They looked like a couple. They were having a good time.” It sounds like People spoke to someone crabby grand-aunt (“swinging her hips around”?), but we’re definitely pro-”Bieltler.” They’ll definitely take better pictures than Timberlake and Ashley Olsen, at least.
