Daniel Radcliffe Admits To Being Drunk During Harry Potter Filming

What’s scarier than that decrepit clown jack-in-the-box from The Woman In Black trailer? Well, nothing, but Daniel Radcliffe’s former drinking problem runs a close second. In an interview with British magazine Heat (the same one in which Radcliffe discusses his body hair preferences at, um, length), the Harry Potter star claims he can pinpoint the exact scenes in his famous films during which he was under the influence. “I went into work still drunk,” he confesses. “I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes. I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem.” Dead behind the eyes! Oh, he means inebriated. Wait, that’s still pretty bad!

Daniel doesn’t specify exactly which scenes he’s referring to, but has discussed in the past how his drinking ramped up during the filming of 2009′s Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. “I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff. There were a few years there when I was just so enamoured with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me,” Radcliffe told The Telegraph this past summer. Radcliffe says he stopped drinking in 2010, maintaining, “I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work.” Man, can you imagine filming Dumbledore’s death scene three sheets to the wind? We could barely stop crying as it is, and we were stone cold sober. And in a crowded movie theater!

Daniel Radcliffe Talks Manscaping, Insert Harry Potter Pun Here

That face Daniel Radcliffe is making above mirrors exactly the one we had when we read his latest interview with U.K. magazine Heat, via The Sun. Not that it’s all that gross, mind you, just … well, it’s a little hard to think about coming from Harry Potter, even if he is 22. Talking about nudity in his upcoming movie Kill Your Darlings, he told the magazine, “It might have a bit of nudity and [the director] said: ‘Just to let you know, if you’re getting naked, no landscaping of any kind. This is the 1940s and you’re playing a Jew.’ I was like, ‘Pretty much there anyway, mate! Not a huge amount of maintenance going on.’ I mean, there’s a little bit, obviously, for courtesy.”

Um. And now that you’ve processed what amount of “courtesy” he gives to girlfriend Rosie Coker, we can move on to even more TMI, by DanRad’s own admission. (more…)

Daniel Radcliffe Defends Lana Del Rey’s SNL….Performance

At least Daniel Radcliffe isn’t bad-mouthing you on Twitter…or Tumblr…or Facebook, Lana Del Rey. One down, millions upon millions to go! We’re sure the “Video Games” singer appreciates having someone in her corner, though, after critics tore into her Saturday Night Live debut. “It was unfortunate that people seemed to turn on her so quickly,” the Woman in Black actor said in Del Rey’s defense at the BAFTA nominations. “I also think people are making it about things other than the performance. If you read what people are saying about her online, it’s all about her past and her family and stuff that’s nobody else’s business.” Haters, if you’re going to hate, at least stay on topic!

Added Radcliffe, “I don’t think it warranted anywhere near that reaction.” Personally, we thought Lana’s performance was weird, slow and vocally all over the place…a.k.a. everything we like about a Lana Del Ray song. And her hair! It looked like a wig such as Aphrodite herself would wear! Or RuPaul! So what did you think? Was Daniel right to leap to Lana’s defense? Or was Lana Del Rey’s SNL performance enough to override both her celebrity supporters and that shimmering honey-colored mane?

Darren Criss Describes “Poetic” Meeting With Daniel Radcliffe

By Rae Votta

Since the moment it was announced that Darren Criss would be taking over Daniel Radcliffe’s role in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway, fans have been eagerly waiting for the two stars to cross paths. Well, it finally happened, and while Radcliffe told MTV’s Hollywood Crush his version of the encounter last week, we can definitely say that Criss’ take on the event was a bit more awestruck.

“It was actually a very poetic moment,” Criss told us when he stopped by the VH1 office this week. “I was on stage by myself at a break. There’s nothing as majestic as an empty theater, and I was kind of onstage going through some steps, and emerging from the shadows comes Dan. We had a nice exchange, and it was good to finally meet each other.”

The Glee star is on his second round of filling Radcliffe’s shoes: Long before he was one half of McKinley High supercouple Klaine, he broke into Internet fame as part of Team StarKid, playing Harry Potter in University of Michigan musicals that went viral on YouTube.

Daniel Radcliffe, Horrible Dolls Star In The Woman In Black Trailer

Maybe it says something about The Modern Times We Live In that we’re more terrified by creepy toys than by your standard serial killer, but when they cut to that decrepit antique baby doll in the first second of The Women In Black trailer, fuhgeddaboudit. We could have been driving that carriage away faster than you could say,”Oh god, there’s a crusty-eyed clown doll too!”

In the grand tradition of horror films, however, Daniel Radcliffe’s dashing protagonist instead chooses to hang out in a haunted marsh house waiting for the titular lady in black, despite the fact that she clearly is controlling those monkey toys from beyond the grave. “I also do like playing slightly disenfranchised characters like Arthur is in The Woman in Black,” the Harry Potter star told MTV last month. “He’s someone who’s grieving and whose grief has put him to the edge of madness and also has sort of made him ostracize himself from society. I guess I like the dark stuff. I find it more interesting.” The movie is slated to come out February 3, 2012, meaning our last full-night of sleep will be on the night of February 2. Before the dolls descend. Forever.

Darren Criss To Replace Daniel Radcliffe On Broadway?

Is Glee star Darren Criss destined for Broadway? Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the actor is set to replace Daniel Radcliffe in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying for a three week stint in 2012. Radcliffe finishes up in January and is planning on getting back into movies (Oh, how we can’t wait for his first post-Potter film), and Criss apparently has permission from Glee creator Ryan Murphy to dabble in other projects. He also be in line to join Kristen Wiig and Annette Benning in the new movie Imogene. How we love seeing talented (and cute) people make it big!

Hilariously, Criss first gained notoriety playing Harry Potter in the viral video “A Very Potter Musical,” which he created with his University of Michican theater company StarKid. Watch below. And because we couldn’t resist, check out a gallery of ol’ DRad dancing it up on Broadway.

The Men Of Harry Potter Continue To Be Cute And Nerdy Around The World

Internet, look! Your boyfriend Matthew Lewis is still being sheepish and cute while promoting Harry Potter in Australia today. We’ll sit on the snarky comments we want to make about his shirt because we’re sure the rest of the world finds it precious, and just say this: “Awwwww.”

Tom Felton, who’s hotness is growing on us every time we gaze into his piercing blue eyes, was spotted yesterday at LAX looking all sorts of RPattz wearing a hoodie and carrying a guitar. Across the country, Daniel Radcliffe showed up at The Daily Show with a book and iPod in hand. He then proceeded to be absolutely nerd-dorable while chatting with Jon Stewart about his love for Spongebob Squarepants and the time he fangirled to Amy Poehler‘s face. Watch below.

The Evolution of Daniel Radcliffe: From Silly Kid To Superstar

Daniel Radcliffe has a lot to celebrate these days. The final installment of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, opened today with midnight showings packed around the globe. Early reports are predicting the film will break box office records. In just the US alone the movie has already made $45 million in pre-sales — before it opened Thursday night. Daniel, like his Potter cohorts, has remained amazingly humble and down to earth through the past decade of Potter-mania. Currently performing on Broadway here in NYC, Daniel can often be spotted eating lunch by himself in the West Village, book in hand.

The actor will celebrate his 21st birthday on July 23rd. To honor the kid who made our favorite franchise the magical monster it is today, we’re taking a look back at the evolution of Daniel — from awkward tween to handsome, humble movie star.

Harry Potter Premiere Hits New York

The Deathly Hallows premiered in New York last night and we couldn’t help but sniff a little looking at all the pictures. Each premiere means we’re inching gradually towards the end. A lot of the tertiary characters didn’t show up for the event but our main squeezes did. After wearing a dreamy Oscar de la Renta to the London premiere, Emma Watson chose a Bottega Veneta gown, Giuseppe Zanotti platform peep toe heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry for the NYC leg. We’re not totally feeling the look and the harsh make-up, but more on that in our next post. Not much smiling from Emma at this one. She looks like she’s taking this quite emotionally, and we don’t blame her.

Props to Daniel Radcliffe for turning up in Prada as well! Completely the trio was Rupert Grint who cleaned up quite nicely in his suit as well. He also looked like he had taken a brush to his hair and what a difference that made! Alan Rickman — possibly one of our favorite actors and the only one who could pull off Severus Snape — looked as cool as cool could be. Pulling up the handsome quotient were Tom Felton and Matt Lewis aka Draco Malfoy and Neville Longbottom. Growing up has agreed with these two. A couple of celebrities also turned up for the premiere. Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker brought their son, James Wilkie. (Note to SJP: Stop putting your son in twee hats.) America Ferrera brought new husband Ryan Piers Williams. Sarah Hyland showed up looking lovely in an LBD, and our happy WTF of the day was Jay Manuel! All-in-all, a pretty successful premiere.
