VH1 Divas Style Seen: Jessie J Turns Heads With 3 Skintastic Outfits

Watch VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul Monday, Dec. 19 at 9/8c.

When VH1 Diva performer Jessie J stopped by to chat with our red carpet host La La Anthony about her jaw-dropping outfit, she explained: “I sat with Falguni and Shane Peacock and I explained to them that I need a dress that’s skin tight that makes me feel like a diva.” Mission accomplished, thrice! Her red carpet number, a sheer black dress with gold embroidery and crucifix imagery, was one of the most talked-about outfits of the night, possibly because it made only a feeble attempt to cover her bra and panties — although she sure kept her feet modest with that black curtain.

Mary J. Blige And Jennifer Hudson: Which VH1 Diva Rocked Neutral More?

Two of the biggest stars to walk on the VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul carpet last night, ended up wearing outfits of the same shade only to very different ends. We’re talking about Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige, both of whom looked pretty nifty in a neutral. While Jennifer changed into four outfits through the night, it’s the short beige dress that she wore on the red carpet, and she looks gorgeous and tiny in it. Mary also wore creamy beige, but the hemline, as you can see on the right, was a lot longer. Her crystal embellished draped gown was by Michael Kors.

Yank on your Spanx and prepare your side eye: the ladies of VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul, which premieres Monday, Dec. 19 at 9PM EST, turned it out on the red carpet. Metallics were huge at the event: Mob Wives‘ Drita D’avanzo slipped into skin-tight gold, Estelle shined in Grecian-style bronze and Love And Hip-Hop 2‘s Emily Bustamante shimmered in off-the-shoulder gunmetal. Jessie J paired her gold with sheer cut-outs and an asymmetrical bob, while The Good Wife‘s Archie Panjabi dressed in slinky black. Jill Scott looked royal in blue, La La Anthony paired a fuchsia lip with herringbone and a slick updo (because she’s business, not casual), and a tiny Jennifer Hudson paired peach with a mint manicure. Looking heavenly, both Mary J. Blige and Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine upped the glamor with glittering white. We hope looking this hot doesn’t ruin anyone’s diva reputation. La La Vazquez Anthony asked the most important diva-related question of all time tonight on the VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul red carpet: which performer is destined to be the next Aretha Franklin? Keeping in mind that each performer is talented in his or her own way, plus there will never be another Aretha Franklin, the clearly crowd favorite seemed to be the one and only Mary J. Blige. AMAs Best Fashions: From Retro Jenny McCarthy To Futuristic Justin Bieber

Because of their convenient timing, the American Music Awards are the perfect opportunity for the country’s biggest music stars to plug their fall releases as awesome gifts for the holidays. And last night, some of those stars were wrapped up as perfect gifts for our eyes. The style theme of the evening swung back and forth from playfully retro — Katy Perry, Karmin‘s Amy Heidemann and Jenny McCarthy — to starship-ready futuristic — Nicki Minaj, Heidi Klum, Justin Bieber (though his leather number was kind of future-by-way-of-Michael-Jackson’s-Captain-Eo).

While we were dazzled by the choices of Nicki (she’s here twice!), Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Katherine Heigl, we also suffered a bit of whiplash from some looks: Jennifer Lopez‘s many costume changes landed her on our best, worst and questionable lists. Justin Bieber and Katy Perry also straddle the best and questionable lists. Stay tuned for more photos and opinions from last night’s show.

2011 BET Awards Green Carpet: Who, What, Wear

Before we can say anything else, how about Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose getting frisky on the green carpet, huh? The 2011 BET Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A last night and the duo looked quite happy wrapped around each other! We’re also loving the Dolce & Gabbana blazer and pants combination Alicia Keys wore to the event and Kerry Washington has our vote with that acidic Michael Kors gown. We also totally expected Nicki Minaj to bring on some full-on cray-cray but it was a half-hearted commitment. We think she actually looked quite pretty in the textured pink dress-tight-boots outfit she was working.

If you want the list of winners, click here, but hint hint: Chris Brown and Busta Rhymes are in there. Also spotted were folks like Nelly, Ne-Yo, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott (love her) and the Smith kids — Jaden and Willow. Of course, Willow’s pal Justin Bieber was there too. Was there any ground breaking fashion? No, but everyone looked really comfortable which is quite a change! Having said that, we would like to forget all about Amber Rose’s shredded catsuit forever. Halle Berry, Fergie And More Turn Up The Heat At The Fifi Awards

We know that the word “fifi” doesn’t really inspire sex appeal, but the Fifi Awards are a pretty big deal, whether or not they sound frou-frou—this annual show is one of the most prestigious events of the fragrance industry. Halle Berry took at up a notch at the 2011 awards, yesterday in NYC, wearing an incredibly sexy asymmetrical cut-out dress by Halston with Christian Louboutin heels! Halle won the Fragrance Celebrity of the Year award for her scent “Reveal”, as well. So she dressed in honor of its name? Because this is pretty “reveal-ing”, no?

Don’t mind if we sound jealous. We aren’t really. We’re actually in awe of that stomach! And the rest of that body, for that matter. Halle was in good company at the show with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Fergie, Kate Walsh and Padma Lakshmi around, and we have to say, everyone was spiffily dressed. Fergie especially, in a flowing canary yellow BCBG Max Azria Atelier gown with a turquoise clutch. She won New Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award for her perfume “Outspoken”. We don’t know why Paz de la Huerta decided to wear no make-up and scowl throughout, so we’re just going to focus on Mary’s awesome Gucci dress.
