The good news for Nas? He no longer has to pay the $13k mortgage on ex-wife Kelis‘ LA home. The bad news? He lost his bid to stop paying $50k a month in spousal and child support. The worse news? He also has to pay Kelis’ legal fees—another $50k. The worst? The Illmatic rapper apparently owes $700,000 to his manager and $2.5 million in back taxes. Nas’ lawyer is enthusiastic about that mortgage win but if Nas starts showing up on TV more often rapping about tacos and sneakers, we’ll understand.
Though Kelis may have that support (and her new contract with Interscope Records) to rely on, the court battle revealed she hasn’t filed a tax return in a long time. Too bad they couldn’t make their attempted reconicilation last September work—they’d probably be better off pooling their resources.

Divorcing couple Nas and Kelis welcomed a baby boy today and Nas announced his son’s debut in a video. “My son is born today! Shout out to my son Knight,” Nas declares of his newborn spawn. This baby is indeed born at quite a hectic time: Kelis was set to attend a child support hearing yesterday, but missed it when she went into labor, and the former couple have been feuding over finances since they announced their split.

The divorce proceedings between Nas and pregnant Kelis are getting nastier, with Nas calling Kelis a liar and claiming that he pays her more than she says and makes less than she claims.
Kelis claims Nas raked in $11 million for a record deal, but Nas responded saying, “I did not even receive half that amount.” Nas also claims his income is declining, and that he is ONLY making $147, 165 per month.

Kelis may be divorcing her rap star husband Nas, but she’s still having his baby—and she wants him to pay for it. According to TMZ, the “Milkshake” singer has filed legal papers requesting that her estranged husband pay spousal support, child support and all pre-natal expenses. “My survival is based on his will at this time,” she writes. “If he does not want to pay for an expense, it does not get paid.”
Along with being broke, Kelis says Nas introduced her to a glamorous lifestyle she should be allowed to keep, littering her court request with references to Cartier, Rolex and high class restaurants. Who knew buying your wife gifts meant you have to do it for life!
The info is unverified, but with everyone wondering why “Milkshake” singer Kelis would divorce husband Nas while seven months pregnant, this rumor sounds crazy enough to hold weight. A source from Nas’ camp reportedly told TheYBF.com that it was the rapper who pushed for the split, after he learned of a sex tape in her past.
The raunchy sexcapades were taped before Nas and Kelis got married, but apparently it didn’t matter. He physically removed himself from her presence, which is why we rarely saw them together these last few months.
Said source also tells us this pregnancy was Kelis’ last ditch attempt to save the marriage. And while Nas is happy with his son being on the way, he was still going to file for divorce. But apparently, Kelis wanted to beat him to the punch–likely out of spite–so she hurriedly filed first.
Nas celebrated his own raunchy past in a profane valentine to Kelis, “Remember The Times” (”I f—ed a few…but none of them can touch you”), so it seems odd he’d be so prudish about her past. Is he that much of a hypocrite—or is there more to the story?
