Blue Ivy Carter photos are finally here and the golden child looks like…well, like any other new-born baby. Sweet and darling and sort of like a grandma, is how we could best describe her. In what we would consider a social media master stroke, mama Beyonce and pop Jay-Z put up several snapshots of baby Blue on a new Tumblr entitled helloblueivycarter this evening. If you want to try and market that Blue Ivy energy drink, you better do it fast, because Beyonce and Jay-Z are taking steps to trademark their daughters name. According to the L.A. Times, the super-parents have already filled out an application at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to copyright their daughter’s distinctive moniker. The couple want to have the exclusive rights to the name, in hopes of launching a brand of baby products in the near future. Apparently the patent office has been flooded with “Blue Ivy”-themed applications since the baby’s birth on January 7th. Rolling Stone reports that a fashion designer tried to trademark “Blue Ivy Carter NYC”, and another wannabe entrepreneur attempted to snag “Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV” to use for a brand of perfume. Both of these requests have been denied, along with all others so far. But we have a funny feeling that Bey and Jay are likely going to be the exception!

After laying low since the birth of her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé is back and ready to play. She was out day before yesterday in a gorgeous orange Alice by Temperley dress and gold and sapphire jewelry by Ofira and Lorraine Schwartz. Bey went out for husband Jay-Z‘s concert at Carnegie Hall — way to support the hubby! We thought she’d vanish for some time after giving us a glimpse of her fabulousness, but hallelujah, that wasn’t meant to be. Beyonce made it out two nights in a row, stepping out in New York City a second time last night. She looked no less incredible in a sparkling, sequined, navy blue Monique Lhullier dress, Gucci shoes, Chanel purse and Lorraine Schwartz bling. Oh my!
As far as we can see, on both nights, the baby weight seems to be under control and Bey looks curvy, happy and glowing. We’re really hoping that she pops in to the Grammys on February 12. Who here thinks she just may? Positive thinking, people!

Oh, HEY! It’s Beyonce! This is the first time anyone has seen her publicly since the birth of her chart-topping daughter Blue Ivy Carter on January7, and we have to say, she looks pretty effin’ fabulous. Bey was out to support husband Jay-Z at his Carnegie Hall concert, and this photograph was taken after they went to his 40/40 Club to celebrate. She’s looking slightly more voluptuous than usual, but if we didn’t know any better, we’d say there’s not a pound of extra baby weight on her. She’s wearing an Alice by Temperley dress and the bits of gold and sapphire jewelry you can see is by Ofira and Lorraine Schwartz. Lookin’ good, mamma!
We’re seriously hoping she’ll appear at the Grammys this weekend. You know, purely so she can support Hov, not because we need to see more of her. Nope. Don’t mind us.

As if she wasn’t already the most hooked up kid on the planet, little Blue Ivy Carter is about to get some more serious star power. Apparently her super celeb mom and dad, Beyonce and Jay-Z, have asked Oprah to be her godmother! Although the reports haven’t been confirmed by the couple themselves, RadarOnline reports that the talk show legend has been tapped to be a godparent, along side Jay-Z’s pal Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith. If it’s true, Baby Blue can probably expect some seriously killer birthday parties. (“You get a pony! And you get a pony! Everybody gets a pony!”).
Oprah would definitely be an awesome and obvious choice for Blue Ivy’s fairy godmother. She’s already been doting on the newborn, in a distinctly Oprah-like way. Instead of sending the new baby a pimped-out stroller or badass crib (see what we did there?), the Big O sent over a “trunk” filled with her favorite children’s books. Awwww! Do we sense an Oprah’s Baby Book Club coming our way?

Actually, the headline lies. We are really having a hard time imagining what really went down at the party celebrating the reopening of Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club in New York City last night. It was Hov’s first public appearance since the birth of Blue Ivy Carter, and Beyonce understandably chose to stay home. The sheer variety of attendees would blow our mind if we weren’t already used to Jay’s wide scope of influence: Warren Buffet, Selita Ebanks, Spike Lee, Mob Wives star Renee Graziano and Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia were there along with his more musical pals like Ashanti, Wale, Questlove and Irv Gotti. The jaded reporters among us (OK, yours truly) didn’t really think those baby sounds in Jay-Z’s “Glory” really were Blue Ivy Carter, even though the proud papa labeled it “featuring B.I.C.” It just seemed like they would have better things to do than to head into the studio this week. But you know, through the wonders of the modern age, and being Jay-Z and Beyonce, it probably wasn’t that hard, so we’ll buy it. Baby girl is bound to be a prodigy. And today we have news that the track will be #74 on next week’s Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. Given she was less than 2 days old when the song dropped, she’s officially the youngest person ever to have a Billboard hit.
Billboard.com points out that Blue is not necessarily the youngest person ever to record a Billboard hit, mind you. Stevie Wonder recorded his newborn daughter Aisha being born for 1976′s “Isn’t She Lovely,” but the song didn’t chart until she was almost 2 years old.

» NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg didn’t exactly confirm rumors about the special treatment Bey got at Lenox Hill Hospital, but at a press conference on Tuesday, he defended the practice of letting rich people upgrade hospital services. “If [the hospital] got paid a lot of money and it let them provide services to other people who don’t have insurance or can’t afford it, I’m not so sure it’s a bad thing. … I don’t think you should keep people from seeing their babies, or whatever, but have different services for people who are full-paying patients.”
» The horrifying theory that Blue Ivy is some kind of reference to the devil was perpetuated by vandals who wrote, “Beyonce had her baby. Satan is on Earth” on the sign of a Beulah Hill Baptist Church in West End, North Carolina church, according to TMZ. Speculation that her name is an Illuminati reference still abounds, too. We just think it’s pretty!

Beyonce and Jay-Z‘s security inconvenienced other families in Lenox Hill Hospital. Blue Ivy Carter was actually born via scheduled C-section. Kanye stopped by Bey’s birthing suite, only to put a tiny mic into Blue’s hand and immediately snatch it away again. There are a lot of rumors and gossip surrounding the arrival of Hov’s first born, and Solange Knowles doesn’t like any of it one bit. Time for a Twitter rant! “We are supposed to be super human and watch people we love get slandered, lied on, and ridiculed. It is one of THE hardest things to accept,” the singer rages. The absolute hardest thing to accept? The fact that Solange can’t just hunt down all of your home addresses one by one. Because if she could…oh lord.
Tweets Knowles, “In any other workplace…if someone directly tells your mother or sister is a liar and a fake ect…you would naturally express yourself.” Luckily for the haters, Solange is taking solace in the purifying joy of chubby baby goodness. “However, the pure happiness and joy I’ve witnessed and experienced helps me to keep my mouth shut,” she writes. Also helpful are the texts Beyonce‘s been sending all afternoon that just say, “KNOCK IT OFF.”

30 Rock stars Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski stopped by The Today Show this morning to discuss their show’s long-awaited sixth season, set to air (finally!) this Thursday. But the two funny ladies took a break from business for a moment to talk about their an even bigger news story: Beyonce’s birth to daughter Blue Ivy! Tina and Jane have something of a personal connection to Bey’s big news, having both given birth in the same New York City hospital as the diva. However, neither got spoiled by the docs quite like Beyonce apparently did.
“We had very similar experiences to Beyonce and Jay-Z,” said Jane sarcastically, alluding to Lenox Hill Hospital staff allegedly rolling out the red carpet for the famous couple. “My celebrity treatment at Lenox Hill involved taking a group breastfeeding class in a closet,” Fey added. “It’s clearly supposed to be a storage closet, with a bunch of other mothers, and a nurse grabs one of your breasts and another lady’s and is shoving them in a baby’s mouth.” But despite this, Fey has nothing but love for the Lenox Hill medical staff.
