Tupac Movie Director Bails For Eminem Boxing Film

We’ve been waiting 15 years for the upcoming Tupac Shakur movie to get made; how much longer will it be now that the Tupac director bailed for Eminem’s film? Last month we heard rumors that Training Day director Antoine Fuqua was signed on for the Tupac film, based on the rapper’s biopic; he even went so far as to convince Shakur’s mother Afeni to get involved with the film’s creation, and the last thing you want to is pull the rug out from under a celebrity mom.

Apparently Fuqua has since left to helm Eminem’s new film Southpaw. The rapper’s new film features Eminem as a scrappy welterweight who has to rise above the obstacle’s in his life to succeed at the sport, and is based in part on Marshall Mathers’ life. So, just imagine Eight Mile combined with The Fighter, but with more broken noses. The Tupac movie is currently scheduled to start filming later this year. Seeing as how Southpaw allegedly has a similar shooting schedule, it looks like Fuqua is out for good. Because who wasn’t clamoring to see another movie starring Eminem as an angry young man who has to learn how to deal with life’s struggles? We know we weren’t.

Eminem Calls Lady Gaga A “Male Lady” On New Track

Sorry, Lady Gaga: Eminem will not have sex with you. The 38-year-old rapper takes a surprising potshot at his Interscope Records labelmate on “A Kiss,” a track from his upcoming Hell: The Sequel EP, a collaboration with Royce Da 5’9″ as Bad Meets Evil. “Tell Lady Gaga she can quit her job at the post office/ She’s still a mail lady/ Wouldn’t f— her with her d—/ You heard it/ The verdict’s in.” In case you missed the pun “mail lady” sounds like “male lady,” undoubtedly a reference to the “Gaga is a hermaphrodite” rumors of 2009—back when he awkwardly handed Gaga her Best New Artist trophy at the MTV Music Awards (remember, he’s a 38-year-old dad, most of them still quote pop culture gossip from 2009).

So far Gaga has not responded to the track, on which Eminem also announces that “Shady” is on Katy Perry‘s “tail, he’s tailgating.” Since “A Kiss” is not the EP’s single, it seems unlikely we’ll get a video a la “We Made You” where Eminem can explore his complicated/asinine feelings about these female celebs further, but if the hype around this dis spreads—and if Interscope execs decide the drama is good for business—who knows? Maybe “Weird” Al won’t be the only guy planning a Gaga impersonation on TV.

Dr. Dre To Perform Live At The Grammys With Eminem

Dr. Dre has been a background player in the music business for the better part of the last decade, choosing to act as producer rather than performer during that time. But Dre has announced that he’ll be performing live with Eminem at the Grammy Awards this Sunday, his first television appearance in over ten years and his first Grammy performance ever. Maroon 5‘s Adam Levine is also reportedly joining the pair during their performance. Dre’s appearance is just one of many in the pretty amazing Grammy night lineup—dare we say that the scheduled performances are actually a pretty good representation of “cool” music this year, with acts like Mumford & Sons, Florence And The Machine, Cee-Lo, Lady Gaga and Arcade Fire taking the stage.

The Grammy Awards air this Sunday, February 13 on CBS at 8 p.m. EST.

Before Twilight, RPattz Wanted To Be A Rapper Named Big Tub

SPL216254_014

Robert Pattinson (photos) probably wishes he could take back the interview he did with Top of the Pops magazine where he confessed that his childhood dream was to rap like Eminem. The interview is actually quite adorable but feature a few key points that, while thoroughly entertaining, might make life difficult for him. Allow us to break it down for you by quote:

1. First off, Pattinson says “I’ve got a whole collection of tapes of me rapping from when I was 13! I wanted to be a rapper so there are hundreds and hundreds of tapes. They’re very amusing!” Adorable anecdote, but we now fear that Robert’s garbage will be the subject of some rooting around. Hundreds of tapes of a 13-year-old Pattinson rapping? Who wouldn’t want to get their hands on those, make thousands of copies and then put them on eBay? Certainly not crazed Twilight fans, no siree.

2011 Grammy Nominations Out, Eminem Leads The Pack

60910252

It’s that time of the year already! The 53rd annual Grammy nominations (for 2011) were announced last night and it’s safe to say that Eminem made a clean sweep popping up in 10 categories. Love the Way you Lie is up for Song and Record of the Tear while Recovery has received nominations for Album and Rap Album of the Year. Just for a quick memory jog, remember who was a big winner at last year’s Grammys? Beyonce!

Other big nominees this year include Bruno Mars with seven nominations, and Jay-Z, Lady Gaga and Lady Antebellum with six each. John Legend and B.o.B follow closely with five. Katy Perry, who’s performing for VH1 Divas Salute the Troops (Sunday, Dec. 5, at 9/8c), scored four nominations, including one for Album of the Year for Teenage Dream.

What’s your take on the nominees this year? Did anyone get left out? How many categories will Eminem win? Will Cee Lo get Song of the Year for the genius F— You? Will Gaga’s Fame Monster kick out the other monster albums? Will Justin Bieber get Best New Artist (we love Biebs, but our vote goes to Florence and the Machine).

Megan Fox Is Eminem’s Video Vixen

Eminem and Megan Fox

Megan Fox may have a promising career ahead of her…as a video vixen. Take that Michael Bay! According to E! Online, Eminem recruited Megan for his “Love The Way You Lie” music video. The single from his Recovery album is currently number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and features Rihanna’s vocals in an all-too-real song about the horror of an abusive relationship. Besides Em and RiRi, Megan is apparently set to join Lost’s Dominic Monaghan today and tomorrow to shoot scenes for the video.

In typical Megan Fox fashion, the scenes with Dominic are supposedly going to get extra steamy. E! Online’s source says, “Things start off with a sex scene between Megan and Dominic. Then they fight, but end up having sex again.” Ooh la la! If this doesn’t make you feel overheated, prepare yourself for the literal flames that will be erupting during the video when a house complete with the white picket fence catches fire all the while Eminem and Rihanna are performing.

Talk about symbolism.

5 Reasons We’ll Miss Lil’ Wayne While He’s In Prison

59480459

Lil’ Wayne will be heading to prison tomorrow to serve a one-year sentence for felony gun possession, and even though we think no crime should go unpunished, we’re sad for the void he’ll leave in our lives for twelve months. Wayne has been busy recording The Carter IV and only just released his rock album Rebirth last week, so there won’t likely be a shortage of his music in 2010, but what of the antics we’ve grown to love? We’ve come up with a few ghosts of Lil’ Wayne’s past that we plan to revisit whenever we need of healthy dose of Dwayne Carter Jr.

Lady Gaga To Open Grammys, May Duet With Elton John

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga will open this Sunday’s Grammy Awards show, according to the freaky fashionplate‘s pal Perez Hilton. The honor is only one part of the ceremony’s confirmation of her pop princess moment: Elton John is reportedly set to perform a duet with Gaga on the show. “Elton and Lady Gaga on the same stage is sure to create fireworks,” a source told Hollyscoop. “It could be one of the most memorable Grammy performances of all time.” The show’s producers should certainly hope so—ratings for the ceremony—not unlike record sales—have been on a general decline over the last decade. But even if we watch, can Gaga hope to top Fever Ray‘s face-melting acceptance speech in Sweden?

Other stars set to perform this weekend include Mary J. Blige, Bon Jovi, Drake, Eminem, Green Day, Lady Antebellum, Lil’ Wayne, Maxwell, Pink, Zac Brown Band and Gaga’s fellow Best Album nominees Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Dave Matthews Band and Taylor Swift. Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Carrie Underwood and Usher will also take part in a 3-D tribute To Michael Jackson. Get your glasses ready!

Eminem Talks Addiction, Feels For Michael Jackson

eminem

Eminem has targeted a lot of celebrities in his songs and videos, including a swing at Michael Jackson in his 2004 video “Just Lose It.” But, after a rough five years in which the rapper kicked his own addiction and delved into a bit o’ personal discovery, Em is now ready to empathize with Jackson, and says that the drug problems both he and Jackson suffered from are “one of the pitfalls of fame.”

The rapper spoke to Complex and says that he blames Jackson’s fame for his death. Eminem reveals that he also dealt with an addiction to Vicodin and explained, “I definitely can relate, and it’s a shame if he didn’t have anybody there to just say, ‘Michael, you’re an addict, you need help.’” Em is sporting a new look these days, which is another result of his sobriety. He went back to his brown roots, saying “I’m like 35 years old, am I going to keep dying my hair f*cking blond?’ Also it was just about letting go. The hair reminded me of my addiction, and I hated myself when I was in my addiction. I hated myself worse than anyone could ever hate me.”

In addition to the new hair, Eminem also promises fewer jokes in his music, saying he wrote “songs instead of one-liners.” With all this change, it’s like we don’t even know the real Slim Shady anymore. [Photo: GettyImages]

Beyonce And Lady Gaga Head Up VMA Nominations

beyonce-lady-gaga

The MTV Video Music Award nominations are in and pop starlets Beyonce and Lady Gaga lead the way with nine nominations each. “I’m excited and honored to be tied for most nominated for the VMAs,” Beyoncé said. “I’ve been blessed this year to have ‘Single Ladies’ become a video people really connected with and responded to. I’ve spent so much time watching all the great versions people created all around the world. It’s beautiful to feel you touch people and bring a song to life with a video.”

Lady Gaga attributed her success to “years of hustle in New York City” and stated, “We believe in the immensity and the promise of ‘showbiz’ and will continue to give it mouth-to-mouth, till its vomiting return. All you need is a camcorder, a flashlight and one truly great idea. Thank you, MTV, for being our video flagship, and for supporting this bunch of inspired kids, who love to get wasted and make art together.”

Britney Spears followed right behind Beyonce and Lady Gaga with seven nominations for her “Womanizer” and “Circus’ videos. Other nominations include:

Video of the Year: Beyoncé (“Single Ladies [Put a Ring on It]“), Lady Gaga (“Poker Face”) and Britney Spears (“Womanizer”) will compete with Eminem (“We Made You”) and Kanye West (“Love Lockdown”).

Best New Artist: Drake (“Best I Ever Had”), 3OH!3 (“Don’t Trust Me”), Kid Cudi (“Day ‘N’ Nite”) and Asher Roth (“I Love College”).

Best Male Video: Eminem (“We Made You”) against Ne-Yo (“Miss Independent”), Kanye West (“Love Lockdown”), T.I. and Rihanna (“Live Your Life”), and Jay-Z (“D.O.A. [Death of Auto-Tune]“).

Best Female Video: Lady Gaga (“Poker Face”), Beyoncé (“Single Ladies [Put a Ring on It]“), Katy Perry (“Hot N Cold”), Kelly Clarkson (“My Life Would Suck Without You”), Taylor Swift (“You Belong With Me”) and Pink (“So What”).
