Is there anything hotter than a diva? How about about a man who loves divas? How about a man who loves divas, and is himself a diva? We know; it’s almost too beautiful to consider. Whether they were performing at the taping of VH1′s Divas Celebrates Soul tonight or simply respecting the shine of the women and men who did, gentlemen like Common, Questlove and 50 Cent brought that red carpet elegance. Boyz II Men also shared cooleyhighharmony in every sense of the word, while Travie McCoy and Nas went casual in caps. Hey, we don’t blame them; it’s freezing in New York! And we don’t want anyone going into full diva mode, would we? VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul premieres Monday, Dec., 19 at 9PM EST.

Grammy Nominations Concert Winners: Nicki Minaj’s Shoes, Melle Mel’s Arms, Zombies

While Kanye West, Adele, the Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars are surely celebrating the many nods they received at last night’s Grammy nominations special, the winners of the evening were definitely zombies, who got a big nod from Lady Gaga during her performance. Other groups who will benefit from the evening: podiatrists (because we want Nicki Minaj’s and Taraji P. Henson’s shoes now) and gyms (because between Melle Mel’s arms and Grace Potter‘s legs, we are all feeling a little inadequate this morning). Losers: the color pink, because Katy Perry’s abuse of this monochromatic thing is making us weary of it; jeans — well, just Jason Aldean’s sad, holey, unhemmed pair; and the cows who gave their lives to Reid Perry’s pants. Common Wonders Who Will Make The Hell On Wheels Clothing Line

Even if you missed the premiere of AMC’s Hell on Wheels last night, you’ve probably seen the photos of Common looking considerably less smooth than usual. As freed slave Elam, he’s got a seriously scraggly beard and some of the dirtiest clothing this side of The Walking Dead‘s zombie wardrobe. VH1′s Melissa Smith sat down with the rapper/actor/controversial White House guest last week and asked if he and his castmates are just a wee bit jealous of the cast of that other AMC period drama, Mad Men.

“They get to be all fresh and get the Banana Republic endorsements — I wonder what type of endorsements we gonna get!” Common laughed, though he admitted that growing his beard out was kind of liberating. “At a certain point, I wasn’t even thinking about how I looked. It was like, you’re in Hell on Wheels; this is not pretty. This is dirty, this is rugged. I was walking around bearded, dirt, bugs be around, horses taking dumps. You just get immersed in the world of Hell on Wheels.”

Steve Jobs Dead: World Reacts To Loss Of A Visionary

It would be hard to overstate how much Apple co-founder Steve Jobs transformed our lives, from getting a mouse into our hands to introducing the touch screen, from how we listen to music to how we talk face-to-face on our mobile phones. In the end, Jobs definitely delivered on his “Think Different” advertising slogan. So it’s not surprising that celebs from every walk of life took to Twitter and Facebook like the rest of us to share their condolences upon hearing that he lost his battle to cancer at the age of 56. R.I.P. Steve.

Sarah Palin Says She’s Not “Anti-Rap,” Just Disapproves Of “Violent” Common

Sarah Palin would hate for you to think she was playing the race card or anything when she criticized Barack Obama for letting rapper/actor Common speak at White House poetry celebration last night. You see, Common is one of those cop-killing, violence-inciting thug rappers you’ve heard about. “This rapper—we thought that we were to be united under the leader of the free world, Barack Obama, in tamping down racism and inciting violence and cop killing, certainly, and killing a former president,” Palin said on Fox News last night. “All those things that this rapper has glorified and really is known for, it just certainly reflects a lack of judgment on the White House’s part.”

In case you really knew Common for acting in films like Just Wright, recording albums with ?uestlove and sweetly proposing to a suburban deaf girl in the “Come Close” video, Palin is referring to a song recorded about Black Panther Assata Shakur and another lyric about “burning Bushes.” But don’t think she’s not down with hip-hop for equating Common with Eazy-E. “I am obviously a proponent of free speech. I’m not anti-rap. In fact, like Bret Baier, I know the lyrics to ‘Rapper’s Delight,’” Sarah Palin said. “But I am saying just common decency in the White House—wouldn’t we like to see a reflection of all that is wonderful and great, a shining city on a hill that the White House is supposed to be, with events inside of that house that reflect the patriotism and the decency and the influence of America.” So people who dare to voice support for ’60s activist figures and make mean metaphors about unpopular politicians shouldn’t get to recite poetry there. Gotcha, Sarah. But do you really like that Sugarhill Gang lyric about “super sperm”?

Look who we just spotted enjoying President Barack Obama‘s (!!!) inauguration! It’s Diddy, Beyonce, and a dude in a giant fur hat. Oh wait, that’s Jay-Z, sporting the first fashion faux pas of the Inauguration. We almost gave that title to Aretha Franklin‘s bow hat, but she rocked it too hard to deserve a diss, even if that bow almost did eat her head.

Critics’ Choice: Slumdog Scoops Up 5 Awards

The 14th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards, often a harbinger for the Oscars, gave Danny Boyle‘s Slumdog Millionaire best picture, best director, best writer, best composer and best young actor. Sean Penn (Milk) won best actor and best actress was divided between Meryl Streep (Doubt) and Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married).

While Hathaway’s acceptance speech was poignant, the most wringing moment of the night (as evidenced by Angelina Jolie‘s teary eyes) came when Heath Ledger won a posthumous best supporting actor award for his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight.
