Black Gowns Galore On The 2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet

Classic black never goes out of style. There may have been a fair amount of neutrals and grays and bold colors on the 2012 Sag Awards red carpet last night, but black actually outnumbered them all. None of the gowns veered towards goth territory, either, as all the styles went the romantic or slightly edgy route.

We saw drapes on the likes of Melissa McCarthy’s Badgley Mischka, Archie Panjabi’s one-shouldered Carolina Herrera and Angelina Jolie’s Jenny Packham halter-necked gown. The latter was a little too safe for our liking. Wearing the same designer was Ashlee Simpson, whose dress was similar to the number Vanessa Hudgens wore to the People’s Choice Awards. No contest here: Ashlee wore the better version.

Amber Heard killed it in a Zac Posen cut-out dress and guess who wore the same designer? Glenn Close! She rocked that gown and her compatriot Jessica Lange did the same in a slinky sequined David Meister number. Both the ladies are still so sexy in their 60s! Joining the sequin brigade was Jayma Mays‘ beautiful Reem Acra gown with a dramatic demi-train. We saw a lot of lace overlay as well, whether it was in Amber Riley’s Badgley Mischka, Stacy Keibler’s Marchesa or Emma Stone’s custom Alexander McQueen. We’d also like to hand out top marks to our favourite 30 Rock ladies for bringing on the fabulous. Tina Fey looked very sexy in her vintage Versace gown as did Jane Krakowski in Antonio Berardi. Everyone did really good here, and black was anything but boring. The only celebrity we wish had upped the stakes was Glee’s Heather Morris. Her half-sheer Masai Payan dress just didn’t work.

The Sisters Simpson Turn Tweeny Fashion Co-Designers

Big sis is already some sort of a fashion mogul, so it’s natural that the younger sibling would jump on board. Jessica and Ashlee Simpson are co-designing a fashion line of tween clothing which will be part of the Jessica Simpson Collection. Run, young ‘uns, RUN AWAY! We kid. Kinda. Between Jessica’s really whack wardrobe and Ashlee’s hipper-than-thou style we’re imagining a group of 9-14 year olds walking around with bleach blond hair, raccoon eyes and clothes that jut out at really weird angles and are two sizes too small. But, we’re sure (read: hoping) that’s not going to happen. Right? Someone reassure us quickly, please?

Jess is pretty confident that that they’re going to create some groundbreaking tween couture, though. She said, “Creating a tween apparel collection was a natural extension for the brand. I’m excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today’s tweens.” The collection will launch this fall and Ashlee’s on a mission to rock the pre-teen world as well saying, “My goal as co-creative director will be to design clothes that will help inspire young girls to express their personalities and creativity through fashion.” Moms, you have been warned.

Ashlee Simpson, Pete Wentz And Little Bronx Still Look Like A Happy Family

These photos of Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz with their little son Bronx Mowgli made us really sad. They looked so happy out in the sunshine at a farmers market in California yesterday, that it just seems like such a waste that these two split up. Ashlee and Pete feel like this perfectly matched hipster couple! But as sad as their impending divorce may be, we think it’s really awesome that they’re still coming together peacefully to parent their son. Bronx looks ecstatic to be riding on a toy train with his mom! Keep all the drama away from the kid, is what we say.

Pete Wentz To Fight Ashlee Simpson For Custody Of Baby Bronx?

TMZ got their hands on Pete Wentz’s response ot Ashlee Simpson’s divorce petition, and it looks like their “irreconcilable differences” extend to the details of the split. Here are a few of their legal disagreements.

Ashlee wants spousal support, Pete would rather not give it (hey, her albums sold about as well as Fall Out Boy’s—and their royalties go four ways!).
Ashlee wants Pete to pay her legal fees, he’d rather not.
While willing to split legal custody of 2-year-old Bronx Mowgli, Ashlee wants primary physical custody. Pete wants to split that as well.

The pair also have yet to decide what they’re doing with the assets acquired during their brief marriage, but obviously the matter of Bronx—and future income—will be the bigger hurdle. Check out the gallery below to see photos of Pete taking Bronx out in LA yesterday.

Pete Wentz In Tears Over Ashlee Simpson, Trying To Save Marriage

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz‘s divorce statement remains the only thing either star has said about their split, but plenty of people are willing to talk for them. The general gossip consensus seems to be that, while Ashlee wants to move on with her life, Pete is still trying to patch things up. “Pete is in denial that the marriage is over,” a source told Radar. “He seems to think that if he turns on the charm he can sweet talk Ashlee into changing her mind and giving it another go.” The same source claims Ashlee was none too happy about Pete starting a new band, Black Cards, after Fall Out Boy went on hiatus. “That’s not the life Ashlee wants for her and Bronx—waiting at home for ‘daddy’ to come home. They’ve basically hit a stalemate and neither side is willing to budge.”

Whether or not he’s willing to budge, mulitple sites say Pete is certainly willing to cry. “Pete has been crying a lot to her about this,” says Radar‘s tattler, with TMZ claiming Pete was teary-eyed as recent as yesterday. “He is crushed, and does not want it to be over.” Maybe he’s confused that Radar says she’s “happier without him” but would possibly consider taking him back if he’d quit touring? Logic like that would make us cry, too.

Pete Wentz’s Friends Refute “Erratic” Behavior In Ashlee’s Divorce Claim

We were all pretty shocked when we heard about Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson‘s divorce yesterday. In our heads all they were a perfectly matched, quirky, eyelinered couple with their little son Bronx Mowgli completing the unit. So when Ashlee decided to bail claiming that Pete’s “erratic behavior” was somewhat to blame (“irreconcilable differences” has been checked as the official reason), we were a bit flummoxed.

Ashlee’s asking for primary physical custody (but joint legal custody) of little Bronx. That’s where we smell trouble, because sources reveal that Pete wants both joint legal and physical custody of their son. The same sources also claim that Ashlee stating Pete’s behavior is erratic is a load of crock. They explain, “After Bronx was born Ashlee made a conscious decision to get out of the business, but Pete’s heart was in music so he kept touring and that became a big issue in their relationship.” See what we mean. We predict a court battle coming straight up.

Ashlee and Pete’s joint statement reads, “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority…” We’re wondering how much longer they’ll remain friends if a custody war begins! Work it out you two, and don’t drag Bronx in.

You know what’s fun? Hiding behind our evil blogger computers in our sweat suits and giant nerd glasses with our greasy hair and cupcake-coated fingers, typing mean things about beautiful people. Which brings us to Cameron Diaz‘s crazy face, Ashlee Simpson‘s slutastic dance movies (attention, meet your whore) and the general WTF-ness that was last night’s US Open celebrity audience.

Look, we know white wine was involved (Ash, we see yer cup) but we expect better from millionaires attending a classy sporting event (though perhaps the US Open is all about fights and debauchery this year). With southern ladies like Dixie Carter sadly passing away, it’s good to see a new generation of stars picking up where gals like her left off on the red carpet of the Kentucky Derby. Ashlee Simpson Completes Debbie Gibson Transformation

You know what sucks? That those stupid, round hats teeny-boppers (New Kids on the Block, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Mayim Bialik and friends) wore in 1988 are now apparently back in style. We had such a hat in the late 80s, and to further accentuate our pubescent awkwardness we cut the top off so that our pony tail could sprout through, a wilted flower of hair spritzed to life with a bottle LA Looks hairspray that we kept in our Kaboodle. That hat was ugly then, and it’s even uglier now – so why then is Ashlee Simpson shoving one on top of her head?

Ashlee’s wannabe rocker chick style has never been our cup of tea, as it has always felt particularly inauthentic (especially when compared to that of her sister, who does the casual Texas lady look so well). But she’s pulled herself together lately in some cute Elvira-esque outfits, and we’ve made peace with her punk aesthetics. That is, until we saw her situated in the front row of her husband’s fashion show, doing her best goth Debbie Gibson impression. SO. NOT. OKAY.
