Blue Ivy Carter News: Baby’s First Billboard Hit

The jaded reporters among us (OK, yours truly) didn’t really think those baby sounds in Jay-Z’s “Glory” really were Blue Ivy Carter, even though the proud papa labeled it “featuring B.I.C.” It just seemed like they would have better things to do than to head into the studio this week. But you know, through the wonders of the modern age, and being Jay-Z and Beyonce, it probably wasn’t that hard, so we’ll buy it. Baby girl is bound to be a prodigy. And today we have news that the track will be #74 on next week’s Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. Given she was less than 2 days old when the song dropped, she’s officially the youngest person ever to have a Billboard hit.

Billboard.com points out that Blue is not necessarily the youngest person ever to record a Billboard hit, mind you. Stevie Wonder recorded his newborn daughter Aisha being born for 1976′s “Isn’t She Lovely,” but the song didn’t chart until she was almost 2 years old.

Blue Ivy Carter News Update!

If the rate of stories about Beyonce and Jay-Z’s blessed babe continues, we might have to start an entirely new blog devoted to Blue Ivy Carter. But in the meantime, here’s a little roundup of the latest B.I.C. headlines we love and loathe:

» NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg didn’t exactly confirm rumors about the special treatment Bey got at Lenox Hill Hospital, but at a press conference on Tuesday, he defended the practice of letting rich people upgrade hospital services. “If [the hospital] got paid a lot of money and it let them provide services to other people who don’t have insurance or can’t afford it, I’m not so sure it’s a bad thing. … I don’t think you should keep people from seeing their babies, or whatever, but have different services for people who are full-paying patients.”

» The horrifying theory that Blue Ivy is some kind of reference to the devil was perpetuated by vandals who wrote, “Beyonce had her baby. Satan is on Earth” on the sign of a Beulah Hill Baptist Church in West End, North Carolina church, according to TMZ. Speculation that her name is an Illuminati reference still abounds, too. We just think it’s pretty!

Tina Fey And Jane Krakowski Wish They Had Beyonce’s Star Power In The Hospital

30 Rock stars Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski stopped by The Today Show this morning to discuss their show’s long-awaited sixth season, set to air (finally!) this Thursday. But the two funny ladies took a break from business for a moment to talk about their an even bigger news story: Beyonce’s birth to daughter Blue Ivy! Tina and Jane have something of a personal connection to Bey’s big news, having both given birth in the same New York City hospital as the diva. However, neither got spoiled by the docs quite like Beyonce apparently did.

“We had very similar experiences to Beyonce and Jay-Z,” said Jane sarcastically, alluding to Lenox Hill Hospital staff allegedly rolling out the red carpet for the famous couple. “My celebrity treatment at Lenox Hill involved taking a group breastfeeding class in a closet,” Fey added. “It’s clearly supposed to be a storage closet, with a bunch of other mothers, and a nurse grabs one of your breasts and another lady’s and is shoving them in a baby’s mouth.” But despite this, Fey has nothing but love for the Lenox Hill medical staff. Check out what else they have to say on motherhood, and 30 Rock (!) in the video below.

Beyonce And Jay-Z Face Controversy Over Childbirth, Security For Blue Ivy

Blue Ivy Carter arrived in style this weekend, though how and with what level of security she made her grand entrance is currently up for debate. Even though we were already furiously working on these pink booties Sunday morning, Jay-Z and Beyonce waited until this afternoon to issue a statement. “We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful – we are in heaven,” said Bey and Hov, adding, “She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs.” Their use of the word “naturally” seemed to directly contradict rumors that Blue arrived via a scheduled C-section. We weren’t there, so we’ll take their word for it. Even if we had been there, we would have been covering our eyes and screaming.

Another point of contention is the affect Blue Ivy’s security had on her fellow baby friends. According to dad-to-be Neil Coulon, whose wife also delivered at Lenox Hill, Beyonce and Jay-Z‘s bouncers caused a big problem for other families on their floor. “Three times they stopped me from entering or exiting the NICU and it happened once on Friday just because they wanted to use the hallway,” Coulon told the New York Daily News. “They should have been more strategic about it. These are children with problems in intensive care and you’re just going to take over the hospital like you own it? All I want is an apology.” However, according to the hospital’s Executive Director Frank Danza, “No security plan that we or the Carters’ security team put in place would have prevented or delayed families from gaining access to the NICU, and to date, no families have complained to the hospital about being denied access to the NICU.” Hmmm, we’re sure some security was in place, though. We mean, would you have been able to stay in your stirrups if you knew Bey was giving birth next door? Wow, really? Maybe we really are her biggest fans. What do you think?

Jay-Z Drops “Glory” For Blue Ivy, Reveals Beyonce Had Miscarriage

Papa Jay-Z himself is celebrating the birth of daughter Blue Ivy Carter on Saturday with a new track he just posted on his Life and Times website. Warning to the sensitive: The song, called “Glory,” featuring B.I.C. (oh, as in Blue Ivy Carter, we get it), will make you cry. And in a couple of instances, Hov reveals that Beyonce had a miscarriage before she was pregnant with Blue.

“False alarms and false starts/ All made better by the sound of your heart/ All the of the pain of the last time/ I prayed so hard it was the last time,” Jay says toward the beginning of the song. Later, he refers to it even more clearly, “Last time the miscarriage was so tragic/ We was afraid you’d disappear, but nah, baby, you magic.”

He repeats a refrain you’ll often hear from new parents, “The most amazing feeling I feel/ Words can’t describe what I’m feeling, for real,” and then goes on to use her name: “Baby, I paint the sky Blue, my greatest creation was you. Glory.”

We also like how Jay is already speaking with wonder about her talent: “Did you wiggle your hands for her?” (Doing the “Single Ladies” dance?!) And though he admits she doesn’t yet know what swag is, she was “made in Paris” just before Beyonce shot an album package, so like the rest of us, he expects big things of his “Lil B” (not to be confused with the Based God, of course).

Question for you guys: Do you think the baby in the track is actually Blue? Or just a stock baby sound?

Will There Be Anything Cuter Than Blue Ivy Carter? An Important Poll

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has arrived, people. Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed Blue Ivy Carter into the world on Saturday night — because when else would a future diva princess debut? We are unreasonably excited about this news. And probably we should calm down about her, so she can have a chance to get adjusted to things like air and light and everything outside of babybumpdom. But then, Carter family, we will need to see some pics and hear some adorable stories. In the meantime, we will look back at the cuteness from which she came…

Jay-Z And Beyonce Have A Baby Girl!

Babyonce is here, y’all! E! reports that Beyonce had a baby girl last night in New York at Lenox Hill Hospital via C-section. Major congratulations to her and new papa Jay-Z. You’re all waiting to hear what their daughter’s name is, right? According to the site, Hova’s been telling his friends that she’s been christened Blue Ivy Carter. Suitably fly for a superstar child, we think. What say you? Celebrity felicitations have been pouring in for the newly minted parents. Russell Simmons tweeted, just a few hours ago, “Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z,” while Rihanna‘s tweet read, “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.” Even Gwyneth Paltrow‘s in on the action, writing, “Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.” Or shall we call her Aunty Goop from now on? Remember, Gwynnie is BFF with Jay, who happens to be Uncle Jay to her kids Apple and Moses Martin.

Will Beyonce and Jay-Z’s baby be the cutest thing ever? Vote!

Bey’s hometown paper, The Houston Chronicle, has also published a story, revealing, “Beyoncé has given birth to a girl early this evening in New York, says a close source. Baby and mom are doing fine.” We absolutely cannot wait to see pictures of Blue Ivy. This baby is going to be way cooler than we’re ever going to be in our entire lives. We bet she’s going to have a solid-gold crib or something! So happy for the new family.

Sienna Miller And Tom Sturridge Expecting A Baby

Sienna Miller, 30, is pregnant, a source confirmed for Us Weekly. She and baby daddy Tom Sturridge, 26, a.k.a. Robert Pattinson’s BFF, have been dating for about a year, but the source says they don’t have immediate plans for marriage. This all-knowing person also told the mag that the pair announced the news to friends in London before spending the holidays together in Paris. Also, everyone’s pretty happy to see Sienna have a baby with Tom rather than her on-again-off-again (and very fertile) ex Jude Law.

Neither actor’s rep would comment on the news. But we’ll congratulate them anyway!

Lily Allen’s Baby Girl’s Name Accidentally Revealed

Don’t you just hate it when that happens? Lily Allen seemed perfectly content with keeping her 2-month-old baby girl’s name under wraps, until her her mum blew it. Lily followed up her “Totes Amaze” tweet after giving birth late November with another message early December writing, “Thank you for all the flowers and lovely messages everybody. very touching indeed. nuff luv x x.” But tweets after that have given no indication of her daughter’s name. Until Lily’s mother, Alison Owen, slipped up on Facebook by messaging it to a friend. Ready for it? It’s properly old school and very charming. Lily’s baby girl’s name is … *drumroll*Ethel Mary. What do you think? In the age of completely left-field baby names, we think this is refreshing.

Fergie, LeAnn Rimes Respond Very Differently To Baby Questions

While we gossip bloggers of the world are still breathing a sigh of relief that Babyonce didn’t arrive during our holiday weekend, we can’t help but stir up new baby-bump watches for 2012. Well, one watch, another “avert your eyes.” First up, the watch is for Fergie and hubby Josh Duhamel, who have been married for three years and together for eight. Asked during the New Year’s Eve party at 1 OAK in Las Vegas whether she’d be starting a family this year, she told People, “Maybe, who knows? We’ll see.”

(For the record, this may also mean “No.” As a woman who’s been married and happily childless for a long time, I would like to say that “maybe” is an answer I often give when I want the questioner to back the F off but don’t want to be as rude as they are for asking.)

And speaking of which, LeAnn Rimes really doesn’t want you speculating on her reproductive abilities and desires. The country star has been married to Eddie Cibrian since April, and thus a stepmother to his two boys. But as for her own kids, after one Twitter fan asked when she’d get her own baby bump and another speculated that she couldn’t have one, she fired back, “I have never even tried so please stop discussing my ovaries LOL.”
