It’s official: Josh Hutcherson has been cast as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth will play Gale in The Hunger Games. First, let’s get this out of our system: AHHHHHH! We’ve been so anxious about when they’d announce this news that we just need to let it out a bit, ya know? Regardless of who you were rooting for to land these parts, it’s just exciting that the movie is moving forward and is one step closer to the big screen. We know lots of people had other stars picked out for Peeta and Gale, but we’d encourage fans not to fret. We recall a time a few years ago when a British unknown named Robert Pattinson was announced as the lead in Twilight and some fans of the books were horrified. But now could you imagine the franchise (er, and your life?) without Rob? We shudder at the thought!
We’re psyched to give Josh and Liam a chance and look forward to seeing what they bring to the table opposite the lovely Jennifer Lawrence. What do you think of the news? Shout it out, mockingjays! And then let’s cast Haymitch, Prim and Rue!

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! There is no way that ANYONE who has read these books are thrilled about this choice. Peeta has BLONDE hair and BLUE eyes, while josh has BLACK hair and BROWN eyes. And as for Gale, He is supposed to be DARK haired and DARK eyes! Liam has BLONDE hair and BLUE eyes!
While i dont know what they read when they auditioned, but that makes no difference, they dont resemble the slightest bit to the characters they are cast as, and they will not work. I was already upset about the jennifer lawerence thing, but i could have been okay with her if you had cast Hunter Parrish as Peeta, and someone else as Gale.
If you were dead set on using these two actors, you should have at least switched them, at least then they would have resembled who they were supposed to be.
My prediction? This movie will flop. ( which sucks because i was excited!)

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I was so excited when i heard they were making this series into movies. But, c’mon! i mean, it’s like they’re TRYING to piss off the fans! Josh fucking Hutcherson?!?! He’s NOT NOT NOT NOT PEETA!!! GROSS! And Liam Hemsworth as Gale?! Who the hell cast this movie, and please fire them immediately!! I’m not eve remotely excited anymore. the only thing i can hope for at this point is that the movie will be as horrible as the casting, and it will be a complete flop. i REALLY hope it does horribly bad at the box office. Then maybe MAYBE moviemakers will consider the fans when they cast books!
I don’t know a whole lot about the two actors that have been chosen but I do know that hair and make up can go along way to making things more believable. With contacts and hair dye both of these guys I think will look the part and I can’t imagine the director not casting someone who wasn’t amazing because lets face it these movies are going to be HUGE! With Twilight and Harry Potter finishing The Hunger Games Trilogy will take over. I was routing for Hunter but hey what can you do. I’m really really excited to see what these guys can bring to the characters I already have drawn out in my head from reading the books. Looking forward to it!!!!!

I’m responding to the 5 comments already posted (at least, the negative ones). First of all, ever heard of make up? They can easily dye Josh’s hair blonde (maybe even give him a wig of some kind since Peeta’s hair is wavy) and give him blue contact lenses. Same goes with Liam, who’ll obviously have to go dark. Both Jennifer and Liam will need a tan, also.
Second of all, of course the movie isn’t going to flop at the box office. Franchise movies almost never do! HG’s fanbase is too huge for that to happen. Just think of the Twilight movies. Those suck big, hairy lollipops but you still see people flocking to them.
Let’s think positive guys! Josh has a huge admiration for Peeta’s character so he’ll want to do him justice! All Gale needs to do for the first movie is look sexy and angry. And Jennifer (the star) has been Oscar nominated! That means she can ACT! (YAY!) Let’s give this movie a chance!

I agree with Hoksmok.I think a lot of people are judging way too fast. It’s obvious that the actors don’t fit the character’s description in the book, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make changes. And, the movie hasn’t even come out yet. Wait and watch the movie to see if the actors aren’t capable of playing the roles. Then you can at least have a reason as to why you’re critisizing them.
This is horrible! Though the woman looks like Katniss (she has soft features) she looks older than 16.

Liam looks like Gale only by his jaw line. That’s it. He’d make a better Finnick than anyone else. He’s perfect for Finnick actually.
Oh jeez. How many times will I see someone compare The Hunger Games to Twilight?! There is NO comparison! The books are good, movies are bad. Robert Pattinson is just blag and Kristen Stewart has no emotion. If The Hunger Games turns out like Twilight, we all need to make Hollywood stop making movies from books.

Oh, COME ON! Are they freaking kidding me? I’ve read these books a trillion times, hoped that they would make a movie, now they’re making one and they choose THEM? I mean really, if your gonna make a movie that has trillions of fans, you could at LEAST get the characters apperances right? I mean, a cast of no body’s that fit the roles would be better than a cast of people we all know that DON’T FIT THE ROLES AT ALL. I MEAN REALLY. Personally, if they have to keep the cast members, at LEAST switch Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth’s roles! Nothing against the actors, just the people who chose them. Now I’m less excited, and many fans I garuntee won’t see the movie cause were all so pissed. Again, nothing against the actors. Thank god for makeup and dyes.

OMFG! NOOOO!!! Honestly, Liam is better for Peeta and Josh is perfect for Gale. This is just gonna ruin the movie. The book will always be better than the movie. So screw who ever casted them!
This is retarded!They don not at all look the part… This really makes me mad, I don’t even know if I will see the movie anymore. They are picking all the wrong people for the main parts. I don’t even care who they pick for the other tributes but, they can’t mess up the casting for Katniss, Peeta, and Gale! The perfect person for Katniss’ role is Hailee Steinfeld, Peeta: William Moseley or Alex Pettyfer, and Gale HAS to be GASPARD ULLIEL!
Peeta is perfect for the role!! even though he’s supposed to have blue eyes, he is the exact same! He even dyes his hair blone for the movie!!! And Liam is a really good actor! Like most people say,the books arent always the same as the movies. So little things like these change but thats it! Dont stress about it!
