Robert Pattinson (photos) is currently driving through the Southern states – New Mexico and Texas so far – and fans are hypothesizing that he’s on his way to visit girlfriend Kristen Stewart (photos) in New Orleans, where she’s currently shooting On The Road. He’s been spotted with a full-on Santa beard sipping beers and ordering wine at restaurants with pal Tom Sturridge (and maybe Sam Bradley) in tow, and has graciously posed for photos with fans, even though he’s clearly attempting one of America’s timeless traditions incognito.
Said one woman who spotted Pattinson in Santa Fe, “He paid with a card in his name. He had the whole beard and hat thing to try to not stand out,” and “…he’s very polite, quiet, un-douchey and knows his wine…And I guess he’s on a road trip with some buddies.”
We die.
Look, you guys know we’re fans of Rob, Kristen and everything they do. (Especially each other! Ba dum dum.) But what kills us the most about these two is just how damn normal they strive to be, especially as their fame continues to spiral more and more out of control. While Ashley Greene is off in Paris trying to BFF it up with new co-star Miley Cyrus in the world’s ugliest outfit (Seriously, Ash, you do the jeans and ballet flats look so well, why are you messing with it?!), Rob is eating at a restaurant in Texas called Cricket’s Grill, and he may or may not participated in karaoke while on the road (wink). How can you not love this man?
So be free, roadtripping Rob. We hope you enjoy all the wondrous things America has to offer, especially your girlfriend. And also barbecue. You should definitely try barbecue. Oh, and there’s a great place in Dallas that has killer pork tacos. Have you ever line danced? You totes should… and Central Grocery in New Orleans – oh man! It’ll seem tourist-y but the muffalettas are unreal. You know what – how about we just come along for the ride? We’ll totally sit bitch.

Coolness! I hope he gets to enjoy the rest of his trip without too much attention. It sucks that he can’t seem to go anywhere without it being reported on. So love him!
Does anyone else think it’s weird that he’s with Tom Sturridge on this road trip? I thought Tom was supposed to be filming in Mexico for his role in OTR. Another site said that Sam Bradley is also with them & Sam has a few concerts in Texas over the next couple days according to his website. Perhaps Rob, Sam & Tom are on their way to Mexico for Tom’s shoot instead of New Orleans & Sam’s concerts. Tom’s in one of the pictures too, walking behind Rob and it looks like he was sitting at the same table with his back to the camera phone.

I wish he’s just on his own “on the road” trip so that he can write about it someday, too. Just having a fun, memorable, enjoying American kind of trip with his pals. I hope if he does end up in New Orleans to visit Kristen, he will continue from there, and he should bring her along, even though they’ll be chased by paps all the way. They just need to stop hiding and start really living and enjoying their youth and success. Hiding is for criminals–like those paps who should be paying celebs when they take their pictures. Any photog. and mag. that makes money off a celebrity’s pictures should pay them or else they’re stealing. It’s un-American.
It’s really awesome that Rob is able to relax and just bum himself out he really needs this kind of fun and relaxation and if it weren’t for that hat his beard has grown so much that it makes him almost unrecognizable. Who knows where he is really going, it could be to see Kristen, it could be for Sam’s concerts, it could be for Tom’s scenes he has to shoot in Mexico for OTR or it could be for all the above. I just hope he stays safe, doesn’t drive after drinking ( cause he drinks a lot) and enjoys being a normal human being for a while. I think he should pick up Kristen though when she’s done shooting her scenes in New Orleans that way they can drive back to CA and do whatever they want without papps being all over them and they would have a ball. If they happen to do that I think they should stop like every state and change cars so no one will be able to find out where they are. It’s so great to see him actually having fun & just relaxing being himself. It’s refreshing. Now, only if people will shut up and leave the whole suppose romance thing alone. It’s none of our f-ing business, they haven’t confirmed it themselves and there’s no hardcore proof that can’t be debunked or called into reasonable doubt question. Until then, I say shut up about it and not assume anything. Assuming is the pillar of stupidity and only a fool assumes. IF they are, then they are. If they aren’t, then they aren’t. Either way, more power to them and hope they find happiness.
